Um bom soldado de Cristo

1 Quanto a você Timóteo, meu filho, fortifique-se por meio da graçat que temos em Cristo Jesus.2 Pegue as palavras que você me ouviu dizer diante de muitas testemunhas e entregue-as a pessoas de confiança que sejam capazes de ensinar a outros.3 Participe dos meus sofrimentos, como um bom soldado de Cristo Jesus.4 Nenhum soldado se envolve com negócios da vida civil, pois o seu objetivo é agradar o seu comandante.5 Da mesma forma, nenhum atleta é coroado se não competir de acordo com as regras.6 O lavrador que trabalha duro deve ser o primeiro a comer dos frutos da colheita.

7 Pense bem no que estou dizendo, e o Senhor o ajudará a compreender todas estas coisas.
8 Lembre-se de Jesus Cristo, que ressuscitou da morte e é descendente de Davi. Estas são as Boas Novast que eu anuncio.9 É por causa de anunciar as Boas Novas que estou sofrendo até ao ponto de estar acorrentado como se fosse um criminoso. Mas a mensagem de Deus não está acorrentada.10 Por esta razão, suporto tudo por causa daqueles que foram escolhidos por Deus. E faço isso para que eles obtenham a salvação que está em Cristo Jesus e também glória eterna.11 O que eu digo é verdade:
Se morrermos com Ele, também com Ele viveremos;
12 se continuarmos firmes junto com Ele, também com Ele reinaremos;
se nós o negarmos, Ele também nos negará;
13 se não formos fiéis, Ele continuará sendo fiel,
pois de maneira nenhuma pode negar a si mesmo.

O trabalhador aprovado

14 Continue a recomendar estas coisas, e ordene a todos diante de Deus para que não discutam por causa de palavras. Essas discussões não têm valor nenhum e somente prejudicam aqueles que as ouvem.15 Faça o possível para se apresentar aprovado diante de Deus, como um trabalhador que não tem do que se envergonhar, ensinando corretamente a mensagem da verdade.16 Evite os falatórios inúteis a respeito de assuntos deste mundo, pois eles servem somente para afastar as pessoas de Deus.17 Além disso, o ensino das pessoas que incentivam esses falatórios corrói como câncer. Entre elas estão Himeneu e Fileto,18 os quais se desviaram da verdade. Eles afirmam que a ressurreição já se realizou e estão destruindo a fé que algumas pessoas têm.

19 Mas Deus estabeleceu uma base sólida que permanece firme. E sobre esta base estão escritas estas palavras: "O Senhor conhece aqueles que lhe pertencem"t e "Todos aqueles que dizem pertencer ao Senhor devem afastar-se do mal".
20 Numa casa grande não há somente utensílios feitos de ouro e de prata, mas também utensílios feitos de madeira e de barro. Alguns são para uso especial e outros para uso comum.

21 Assim, pois, todo aquele que se purificar será um utensílio para uso especial, consagrado e útil ao seu Mestre, e estará preparado para todo o tipo de boa obra.
22 Evite as paixões da mocidade. Procure viver uma vida reta, com fé, amor e paz, junto com todos os que de coração puro invocam ao Senhor.23 Afaste-se das discussões tolas e absurdas, pois você sabe que elas só servem para causar brigas.24 O servo do Senhor não deve brigar. Ele deve ser gentil com todas as pessoas, competente para ensinar, e paciente.25 Ele também deve instruir com mansidão os que estão contra ele. Talvez Deus mude o coração deles para que possam conhecer a verdade

26 e voltar a ser sensatos. Dessa forma poderão escapar da armadilha na qual o diabo os mantinha presos e os fazia obedecer a sua vontade.

2 Timothy 2

Be Strong

1 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.2 The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.3 Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.4 No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.5 Also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules.6 The hard-working farmer ought to be the first to receive his share of the crops.7 Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.

8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel,9 for which I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word of God is not imprisoned.10 For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.11 It is a trustworthy statement:
For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;

12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him;
If we deny Him, He also will deny us;

13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

An Unashamed Workman

14 Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers.15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.16 But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness,17 and their talk will spread like tgangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,18  men who have gone astray from the truth saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and they upset the faith of some.19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness."

20 Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor.21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.22 Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.23 But refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that they produce quarrels.24 The Lord's bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged,25 with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.
