ทหารที่ดีของพระเยซูคริสต์
1 เพราะฉะนั้นบุตรของข้าพเจ้าเอ๋ย จงเข้มแข็งขึ้นด้วยพระคุณซึ่งมีอยู่ในพระเยซูคริสต์ 2 จงมอบคำสอนเหล่านั้นซึ่งท่านได้ยินจากข้าพเจ้าต่อหน้าพยานหลายๆ คนไว้กับบรรดาคนซื่อสัตย์ที่สามารถสอนคนอื่นได้ด้วย 3 จงมีส่วนร่วมในความทุกข์ยากเหมือนทหารที่ดีของพระเยซูคริสต์ 4 ทหารประจำการย่อมไม่ไปพัวพันกับการงานฝ่ายพลเรือน เพราะเขามุ่งที่จะทำให้ผู้บังคับบัญชาพอใจ 5 และนักกีฬาย่อมไม่ได้รางวัลtถ้าเขาไม่แข่งขันตามกติกา 6 กสิกรที่ตรากตรำย่อมสมควรได้รับผลิตผลเป็นคนแรก 7 จงใคร่ครวญถึงสิ่งที่ข้าพเจ้าพูด เพราะองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจะประทานความเข้าใจแก่ท่านในทุกๆ สิ่ง 8 จงระลึกถึงพระเยซูคริสต์ ผู้ที่พระเจ้าทรงทำให้เป็นขึ้นจากตาย ทรงสืบเชื้อสายจากดาวิด ตามข่าวประเสริฐที่ข้าพเจ้าประกาศ 9 และเพราะข่าวประเสริฐนี้ ข้าพเจ้าจึงทนทุกข์กระทั่งถูกล่ามโซ่เหมือนกับผู้ร้าย แต่พระวจนะของพระเจ้านั้นไม่อาจถูกล่ามโซ่ไว้ได้ 10 เพราะเหตุนี้ข้าพเจ้าจึงยอมสู้ทนทุกอย่าง เพราะเห็นแก่พวกที่ทรงเลือกไว้นั้น เพื่อเขาทั้งหลายจะได้รับความรอดที่มีอยู่ในพระเยซูคริสต์พร้อมทั้งศักดิ์ศรีนิรันดร์ 11 คำกล่าวนี้สัตย์จริง คือถ้าเราตายกับพระองค์แล้ว เราก็จะมีชีวิตอยู่กับพระองค์
12 ถ้าเราสู้ทน เราก็จะได้ครองร่วมกับพระองค์ ถ้าเราไม่ยอมรับพระองค์ พระองค์ก็จะไม่ทรงยอมรับเราเช่นกันt
13 ถ้าเราไม่มีความสัตย์จริง พระองค์ก็ยังทรงไว้ซึ่งความสัตย์จริง
เพราะพระองค์จะไม่ทรงเป็นพระองค์เองไม่ได้t
คนงานที่พระเจ้าพอพระทัย
14 จงให้เขาทั้งหลายระลึกถึงข้อนี้ และกำชับเขาเฉพาะพระพักตร์พระเจ้าt ไม่ให้โต้แย้งกันเรื่องถ้อยคำซึ่งไม่เป็นประโยชน์เลย แต่กลับทำลายพวกคนฟัง 15 จงอุตส่าห์ถวายตัวท่านเองที่พระเจ้าทรงรับรองแล้วแด่พระองค์ เป็นคนงานที่ไม่อับอาย สอนพระวจนะแห่งความจริงอย่างถูกต้อง 16 จงหลีกเลี่ยงคำพูดที่ไร้คุณธรรมและโง่เขลา เพราะคำพูดอย่างนั้นจะนำคนไปสู่ความอธรรมมากยิ่งขึ้น 17 และคำพูดของพวกเขาจะแพร่ออกไปเหมือนแผลเนื้อร้าย คนพวกนั้นมีฮีเมเนอัสกับฟีเลทัสรวมอยู่ด้วย 18 ทั้งสองคนนั้นหลงไปจากความจริงโดยกล่าวว่าการเป็นขึ้นจากตายนั้นผ่านไปแล้ว เขากำลังทำให้ความเชื่อของบางคนไขว้เขวไป 19 แต่ว่ารากฐานอันแข็งแกร่งของพระเจ้าตั้งมั่นอยู่และปรากฏคำจารึกดังนี้ “องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงรู้จักบรรดาคนของพระองค์” และ “ให้ทุกคนที่ออกพระนามขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าละทิ้งความชั่ว” 20 ในบ้านหลังใหญ่ไม่ได้มีแต่ภาชนะทองและภาชนะเงินเท่านั้น แต่มีภาชนะไม้และภาชนะดินด้วย บางอย่างนั้นเป็นภาชนะพิเศษ บางอย่างก็เป็นภาชนะธรรมดา 21 ถ้าใครชำระตัวเองให้พ้นจากความชั่วเหล่านี้t เขาก็จะเป็นภาชนะพิเศษ ซึ่งชำระให้บริสุทธิ์แล้ว เหมาะที่เจ้าของจะใช้เป็นประโยชน์ และพร้อมสำหรับการดีทุกอย่าง 22 เพราะฉะนั้นท่านจงหลีกหนีจากตัณหาของคนหนุ่ม และจงมุ่งมั่นในความชอบธรรม ความเชื่อ ความรัก และสันติสุขร่วมกับพวกที่ออกพระนามขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าด้วยใจบริสุทธิ์ 23 อย่ายุ่งเกี่ยวกับการทุ่มเถียงที่โง่เขลาและไม่เป็นสาระ ท่านก็รู้ว่าสิ่งเหล่านั้นทำให้เกิดการทะเลาะกัน 24 ส่วนผู้รับใช้ขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจะต้องไม่เป็นคนที่ชอบทะเลาะ แต่ต้องมีใจเมตตาต่อทุกคน เป็นอาจารย์ที่เหมาะสมและมีความอดทน 25 แก้ไขความคิดเห็นของฝ่ายตรงข้ามด้วยความสุภาพอ่อนโยน เพราะพระเจ้าอาจโปรดให้พวกเขากลับใจ และมาถึงความรู้ในความจริง 26 และหลุดพ้นจากบ่วงของมาร ผู้ซึ่งดักจับพวกเขาไว้ให้ทำตามความประสงค์ของมันt
2 Timothy 2
1 Thou therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.2 And the things which thou hast heard from me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.3 Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.4 No soldier on service entangleth himself in the affairs of this life; that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.5 And if also a man contend in the games, he is not crowned, except he have contended lawfully.6 The husbandmen that laboreth must be the first to partake of the fruits.7 Consider what I say; for the Lord shall give thee understanding in all things.8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my gospel:9 wherein I suffer hardship unto bonds, as a malefactor; but the word of God is not bound.10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.11 Faithful is the saying: For if we died with him, we shall also live with him:12 if we endure, we shall also reign with him: if we shall deny him, he also will deny us:13 if we are faithless, he abideth faithful; for he cannot deny himself.14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them in the sight of the Lord, that they strive not about words, to no profit, to the subverting of them that hear.15 Give diligence to present thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, handling aright the word of truth.16 But shun profane babblings: for they will proceed further in ungodliness,17 and their word will eat as doth a gangrene: of whom is Hymenaeus an Philetus;18 men who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already, and overthrow the faith of some.19 Howbeit the firm foundation of God standeth, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his: and, Let every one that nameth the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness.20 Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some unto honor, and some unto dishonor.21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, meet for the master’s use, prepared unto every good work.22 after righteousness, faith, love, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.23 But foolish and ignorant questionings refuse, knowing that they gender strifes.24 And the Lord’s servant must not strive, but be gentle towards all, apt to teach, forbearing,25 in meekness correcting them that oppose themselves; if peradventure God may give them repentance unto the knowledge of the truth,26 and they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him unto his will.
