第3章
1 しかし、このことは知っておかねばならない。終りの時には、苦難の時代が来る。2 その時、人々は自分を愛する者、金を愛する者、大言壮語する者、高慢な者、神をそしる者、親に逆らう者、恩を知らぬ者、神聖を汚す者、3 無情な者、融和しない者、そしる者、無節制な者、粗暴な者、善を好まない者、4 裏切り者、乱暴者、高言をする者、神よりも快楽を愛する者、5 信心深い様子をしながらその実を捨てる者となるであろう。こうした人々を避けなさい。6 彼らの中には、人の家にもぐり込み、そして、さまざまの欲に心を奪われて、多くの罪を積み重ねている愚かな女どもを、とりこにしている者がある。7 彼女たちは、常に学んではいるが、いつになっても真理の知識に達することができない。8 ちょうど、ヤンネとヤンブレとがモーセに逆らったように、こうした人々も真理に逆らうのである。彼らは知性の腐った、信仰の失格者である。9 しかし、彼らはそのまま進んでいけるはずがない。彼らの愚かさは、あのふたりの場合と同じように、多くの人に知れて来るであろう。10 しかしあなたは、わたしの教、歩み、こころざし、信仰、寛容、愛、忍耐、11 それから、わたしがアンテオケ、イコニオム、ルステラで受けた数々の迫害、苦難に、よくも続いてきてくれた。そのひどい迫害にわたしは耐えてきたが、主はそれらいっさいのことから、救い出して下さったのである。12 いったい、キリスト・イエスにあって信心深く生きようとする者は、みな、迫害を受ける。13 悪人と詐欺師とは人を惑わし人に惑わされて、悪から悪へと落ちていく。14 しかし、あなたは、自分が学んで確信しているところに、いつもとどまっていなさい。あなたは、それをだれから学んだか知っており、15 また幼い時から、聖書に親しみ、それが、キリスト・イエスに対する信仰によって救に至る知恵を、あなたに与えうる書物であることを知っている。16 聖書は、すべて神の霊感を受けて書かれたものであって、人を教え、戒め、正しくし、義に導くのに有益である。17 それによって、神の人が、あらゆる良いわざに対して十分な準備ができて、完全にととのえられた者になるのである。
2 Timothy 3
1 But know this, that in the last days grievous times shall come.2 For men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, railers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,3 without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good,4 traitors, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God;5 holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power therefore. From these also turn away.6 For of these are they that creep into houses, and take captive silly women laden with sins, led away by divers lusts,7 ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.8 And even as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also withstand the truth. Men corrupted in mind, reprobate concerning the faith.9 But they shall proceed no further. For their folly shall be evident unto all men, as theirs also came to be.10 But thou didst follow my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience,11 persecutions, sufferings. What things befell me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me.12 Yea, and all that would live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.13 But evil men and impostors shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.14 But abide thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them.15 And that from a babe thou hast known the sacred writings which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.16 Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness.17 That the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work.
