Gedurende die laaste dae sal baie mense ontspoor
1 Jy moet ook dít weet, Timoteus, dat daar gedurende die laaste dae moeilike tye sal kom.2 Want mense sal net hulleself en hulle geld liefhê. Hulle sal grootpraterig en arrogant wees, met God spot, ongehoorsaam aan hulle ouers en ondankbaar wees. Hulle sal niks as heilig beskou nie.3 Hulle sal liefdeloos en onvergewensgesind wees; hulle sal ander mense belaster en geen selfbeheersing hê nie; hulle sal wreed wees en geen belangstelling hê in wat goed is nie.4 Hulle sal hulle vriende verraai, roekeloos wees, hooghartig, en hulle sal plesier liewer hê as vir God.
5 Hulle sal optree asof hulle godsdienstig is, maar dit ontken wat aan die Christelike godsdiens sy krag gee. Jy moet wegbly van sulke mense af.
6 Onder hulle is dié wat hulleself in mense se huise kan inwurm en die vertroue van kwesbare vroue wen wat belaai is met sondeskuld en beheer word deur baie begeertes.7 Sulke vroue is altyd besig om nuwe leringe na te volg, maar hulle kry dit nie reg om die waarheid te begryp nie.8 En hierdie leermeesters bestry die waarheid net soos Jannes en Jambres hulle teen Moses verset het. Hulle denke is korrup en hulle geloof is niks werd nie.
9 Maar hulle sal nie lank hiermee wegkom nie, want dit sal vir almal duidelik blyk watter dwase hulle is, net soos dit gebeur het met Jannes en Jambres.
Bly aan die Skrif getrou
10 Maar jy, Timoteus, het my onderrig getrou gevolg, hoe ek lewe en wat my doel in die lewe is. Jy ken my geloof en hoe lank ek al gely het. Jy ken my liefde en my geduld en verdraagsaamheid.11 Jy weet hoeveel vervolging en lyding ek verduur het. Jy weet alles van hoe ek vervolg is in Antiogië, Ikonium en Listra, maar die Here het my uit alles verlos.12 Ja, en almal wat 'n toegewyde lewe in verbondenheid aan Christus Jesus wil lei, sal vervolg word.
13 Maar bose mense en swendelaars sal voortgaan van kwaad tot erger. Hulle sal aanhou om mense te mislei, en hulle sal self mislei word.
14 Maar jý, bly getrou aan die dinge wat jy geleer het. Jy weet dit is waar, want jy weet jy kan dié vertrou wat jou geleer het.15 Jy ken die Heilige Skrif van kindsbeen af en dit het jou die wysheid gegee om die verlossing te ontvang wat deur geloof in Christus Jesus kom.16 Die hele Skrif is deur God geïnspireer en is nuttig om ons te onderrig, die verkeerde te weerlê, om ons tereg te wys en om die regte leefstyl by ons te kweek.
17 Dit is God se manier om sy mense voor te berei vir hulle taak, ten volle toegerus vir elke goeie ding wat Hy wil hê hulle moet doen.

What People Will Be Like //in the Last Days
1 You can be certain that in the last days there will be some very hard times. 2 People will love only themselves and money. They will be proud, stuck-up, rude, and disobedient to their parents. They will also be ungrateful, godless, 3 heartless, and hateful. Their words will be cruel, and they will have no self-control or pity. These people will hate everything good. 4 They will be sneaky, reckless, and puffed up with pride. Instead of loving God, they will love pleasure.
5 Even though they will make a show of being religious, their religion won't be real. Don't have anything to do with such people.
6 Some men fool whole families, just to get power over those women who are slaves of sin and are controlled by all sorts of desires. 7 These women always want to learn something new, but they never can discover the truth. 8 t Just as Jannes and Jambrest opposed Moses, these people are enemies of the truth. Their minds are sick, and their faith isn't real.
9 But they won't get very far with their foolishness. Soon everyone will know the truth about them, just as Jannes and Jambres were found out.Paul's Last Instructions //to Timothy
10 Timothy, you know what I teach and how I live. You know what I want to do and what I believe. You have seen how patient and loving I am, and how in the past I put up with 11 t trouble and suffering in the cities of Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. Yet the Lord rescued me from all those terrible troubles. 12 In fact, anyone who belongs to Christ Jesus and wants to live right will have trouble from others.
13 But evil people who pretend to be what they are not will become worse than ever, as they fool others and are fooled themselves.
14 Keep on being faithful to what you were taught and to what you believed. After all, you know who taught you these things. 15 Since childhood, you have known the Holy Scriptures that are able to make you wise enough to have faith in Christ Jesus and be saved. 16 Everything in the Scriptures is God's Word. All of it is useful for teaching and helping people and for correcting them and showing them how to live. 17 The Scriptures train God's servants to do all kinds of good deeds.
