۳-یُوحنّا 1
تمہید
1 مُجھ بزُرگ کی طرف سے
اُس پیارے گیُِس کے نام جِس سے مَیں سچّی مُحبّت رکھتا ہُوں۔
2 اَے پیارے! مَیں یہ دُعا کرتا ہُوں کہ جِس طرح تُو رُوحانی ترقّی کر رہا ہے اُسی طرح تُو سب باتوں میں ترقّی کرے اور تندرُست رہے۔ 3 کیونکہ جب بھائِیوں نے آکر تیری اُس سچّائی کی گواہی دی جِس پر تُو حقِیقت میںچلتا ہے تو مَیں نِہایت خُوش ہُؤا۔
4 میرے لِئے اِس سے بڑھ کر اور کوئی خُوشی نہیں کہ مَیں اپنے فرزندوں کو حق پر چلتے ہُوئے سُنوں۔گیُِس کی تعریف
5 اَے پیارے! جو کُچھ تُو اُن بھائِیوں کے ساتھ کرتا ہے جو پردیسی بھی ہیں وہ دِیانت سے کرتا ہے۔ 6 اُنہوں نے کلِیسیا کے سامنے تیری مُحبّت کی گواہی دی تھی ۔ اگر تُو اُنہیں اُس طرح روانہ کرے گا جِس طرح خُدا کے لوگوں کو مُناسِب ہے تو اچھّا کرے گا۔ 7 کیونکہ وہ اُس نام کی خاطِر نِکلے ہیں اور غَیر قَوموں سے کُچھ نہیں لیتے۔
8 پس اَیسوں کی خاطِرداری کرنا ہم پر فرض ہے تاکہ ہم بھی حق کی تائِید میں اُن کے ہم خِدمت ہوں۔دِیُتِر فِیس اور دِیمِیتِر یُس کی مذمّت
9 مَیں نے کلِیسیا کو کُچھ لِکھا تھا مگر دِیُترِفِیس جو اُن میں بڑا بننا چاہتا ہے ہمیں قبُول نہیں کرتا۔
10 پس جب مَیں آؤُں گا تو اُس کے کاموں کو جو وہ کر رہا ہے یاد دِلاؤُں گا کہ ہمارے حق میں بُری باتیں بَکتا ہے اور اِن پر قناعِت نہ کر کے خُود بھی بھائِیوں کو قبُول نہیں کرتا اور جو قبُول کرنا چاہتے ہیں اُن کو بھی منع کرتا ہے اور کلِیسیا سے نِکال دیتا ہے۔
11 اَے پیارے! بدی کی نہیں بلکہ نیکی کی پَیروی کر ۔ نیکی کرنے والا خُدا سے ہے ۔ بدی کرنے والے نے خُدا کو نہیں دیکھا۔
12 دِیمِیترِیُس کے بارے میں سب نے اور خُود حق نے بھی گواہی دی اور ہم بھی گواہی دیتے ہیں اور تُو جانتا ہے کہ ہماری گواہی سچّی ہے۔اِختتامیہ سلام
13 مُجھے لِکھنا تو تُجھ کو بُہت کُچھ تھا مگر سیاہی اور قلم سے تُجھے لِکھنا نہیں چاہتا۔
14 بلکہ تُجھ سے جلد مِلنے کی اُمّید رکھتا ہُوں اُس وقت ہم رُوبرُو بات چِیت کریں گے۔
15 تُجھے اِطمِینان حاصِل ہوتا رہے ۔
یہاں کے دوست تُجھے سلام کہتے ہیں ۔ تُو وہاں کے دوستوں سے نام بہ نام سلام کہہ۔

To my dear friend Gaius.
I love you because we follow the truth, 2 dear friend, and I pray all goes well for you. I hope you are as strong in body, as I know you are in spirit. 3 It makes me very happy when the Lord's followers come by and speak openly of how you obey the truth.
4 Nothing brings me greater happiness than to hear that my childrent are obeying the truth.Working Together
5 Dear friend, you have always been faithful in helping other followers of the Lord, even the ones you didn't know before. 6 They have told the church about your love. They say you were good enough to welcome them and to send them on their mission in a way God's servants deserve. 7 When they left to tell others about the Lord, they decided not to accept help from anyone who wasn't a follower.
8 We must support people like them, so we can take part in what they are doing to spread the truth.
9 I wrote to the church. But Diotrephes likes to be the number-one leader, and he won't pay any attention to us.
10 So if I come, I will remind him of how he has been attacking us with gossip. Not only has he been doing this, but he refuses to welcome any of the Lord's followers who come by. And when other church members want to welcome them, he puts them out of the church.
11 Dear friend, don't imitate the evil deeds of others, but follow the example of people who do kind deeds. They are God's children, but those who are always doing evil have never seen God.
12 Everyone speaks well of Demetrius, and so does the true message that he teaches. I also speak well of him, and you know what I say is true.Final Greetings
13 I have much more to say to you, but I don't want to write it with pen and ink.
14 I hope to see you soon, and then we can talk in person.
