KISAH RASUL-RASUL 1

1 Teofilus yang budiman, Di dalam bukuku yang pertama sudah kuterangkan semuanya yang dilakukan dan diajarkan oleh Yesus sejak Ia mulai pekerjaan-Nya, t

2 sampai pada hari Ia diangkat ke surga. Sebelum Ia naik ke surga, dengan kuasa Roh Allah Ia memberi petunjuk-petunjuk kepada rasul-rasul-Nya yang terpilih. 3 Sesudah Ia mati, selama empat puluh hari Ia sering menunjukkan dengan cara yang nyata sekali kepada rasul-rasul itu bahwa Ia sungguh-sungguh hidup. Mereka melihat Dia, dan Ia berbicara dengan mereka mengenai bagaimana Allah memerintah sebagai Raja. 4 Dan pada waktu Ia berkumpul bersama mereka,t Ia memberi perintah ini kepada mereka, “Jangan pergi dari Yerusalem. Tunggu di situ sampai Bapa memberikan apa yang sudah dijanjikan-Nya, yaitu yang sudah Kuberitahukan kepadamu dahulu. t 5 Sebab Yohanes membaptis dengan air, tetapi beberapa hari lagi kalian akan dibaptis dengan Roh Allah.” t

Yesus diangkat ke surga

6 Ketika rasul-rasul itu berkumpul bersama-sama dengan Yesus, mereka bertanya kepada-Nya, “Tuhan, apakah sekarang Tuhan mau mendirikan kembali Pemerintahan bangsa Israel?”

7 Yesus menjawab, “Bapa-Ku sendiri yang menentukan hari dan waktunya. Itu tidak perlu kalian ketahui, sebab itu hak Bapa. 8 Tetapi kalian akan mendapat kuasa, kalau Roh Allah sudah datang kepadamu. Dan kalian akan menjadi saksi-saksi untuk-Ku di Yerusalem, di seluruh Yudea, di Samaria, dan sampai ke ujung bumi.” t 9 Sesudah Yesus berkata begitu, Ia diangkat ke surga di depan mata mereka, dan awan menutupi Dia dari pandangan mereka. t

10 Sementara mereka masih memandang ke langit, sewaktu Yesus terangkat, tiba-tiba dua orang berpakaian putih berdiri di sebelah mereka. 11 “Hai, orang-orang Galilea,” kata kedua orang itu, “mengapa kalian berdiri saja di situ memandang ke langit? Yesus, yang kalian lihat terangkat ke surga itu di hadapan kalian, akan kembali lagi dengan cara itu juga seperti yang kalian lihat tadi.”

Pengganti Yudas

12 Kemudian rasul-rasul itu kembali ke Yerusalem dari Bukit Zaitun. Bukit itu terletak kira-kira satu kilometer jauhnya dari Yerusalem. 13 Di Yerusalem mereka pergi ke rumah tempat mereka menumpang, lalu naik ke kamar yang di atas. Rasul-rasul itu, yaitu Petrus dan Yohanes, Yakobus dan Andreas, Filipus dan Tomas, Bartolomeus dan Matius, Yakobus anak Alfeus, Simon Patriot dan Yudas anak Yakobus; t 14 semuanya selalu dengan sehati berkumpul untuk berdoa. Mereka berdoa bersama wanita-wanita termasuk Maria ibu Yesus, dan bersama saudara-saudara Yesus.

15 Pada suatu hari, ketika mereka sedang berkumpul -- ada kira-kira seratus dua puluh orang yang hadir -- Petrus berdiri untuk berbicara. Ia berkata, 16 “Saudara-saudara! Apa yang tertulis di dalam Alkitab, itu harus terjadi. Dahulu melalui Daud, Roh Allah sudah bernubuat tentang Yudas, pemimpin orang-orang yang menangkap Yesus itu. 17 Yudas adalah salah seorang dari kita, dan ia sudah dipilih juga untuk ikut bekerja bersama-sama dengan kita.” (

18 Yudas ini sudah mendapat tanah kuburannya dari upah pengkhianatannya yang jahat. Ia jatuh dan mati dengan perutnya terbelah sampai isi perutnya keluar semuanya. t 19 Semua orang yang tinggal di Yerusalem tahu tentang hal itu. Itu sebabnya dalam bahasa mereka, mereka menamakan tanah itu Akeldama, yang berarti ‘Tanah Darah’.)

20 “Karena di dalam buku Mazmur ada tertulis begini, ‘Biarlah tempat tinggalnya menjadi sunyi; jangan seorang pun tinggal di dalamnya.’ Ada tertulis begini juga, ‘Biarlah kedudukannya diambil orang lain.’ t

21-22 Sebab itu, harus ada seseorang yang ikut dengan kita menjadi saksi bahwa Tuhan Yesus sudah hidup kembali dari kematian. Orang itu haruslah salah seorang dari antara orang-orang yang selalu bersama-sama dengan kita pada waktu kita mengikuti Tuhan Yesus ke mana-mana, sejak Yohanes mulai membaptist sampai pada waktu Yesus diangkat ke surga dari tengah-tengah kita.” t

23 Maka orang-orang yang hadir di situ menyarankan dua orang, yaitu Yusuf yang disebut juga Barsabas (ia disebut Yustus juga), dan Matias. 24-25 Lalu mereka berdoa. Mereka berkata, “Tuhan, Engkau tahu hati semua orang. Yudas sudah jatuh dari jabatannya sebagai rasul dan sudah mati. Jadi tunjukkanlah kepada kami, siapa dari kedua orang ini yang Tuhan pilih untuk diberi tugas itu menggantikan Yudas.” 26 Sesudah itu kedua nama itu diundi, lalu undian jatuh pada Matias. Jadi ia diangkat menjadi rasul untuk turut bersama-sama dengan kesebelas rasul yang lainnya.

Acts 1

Jesus Ascends to Heaven

1 I wrotet the formert account,ts Theophilus,t about all that Jesus began to do and teach2 until the day he was taken up to heaven,t after he had given orderst byt the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.3 To the same apostlest also, after his suffering,s he presented himself alive with many convincing proofs. He was seen by them over a forty-day periodt and spoke about matters concerning the kingdom of God.4 While he was with them,t he declared,t “Do not leave Jerusalem,s but wait theret for what myt Father promised,t which you heard about from me.t

5 Fort John baptized with water, but yout will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
6 So when they had gathered together, they began to ask him,t “Lord, is this the time when you are restoring the kingdom to Israel?”7 He told them, “You are not permitted to knowt the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority.8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the farthest partst of the earth.”9 Aftert he had said this, while they were watching, he was lifted up and a cloud hid him from their sight.10 Ast they were still staring into the sky while he was going, suddenlyt two men in white clothing stood near them

11 and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand heret looking up into the sky? This same Jesus who has been taken up from you into heavenst will come back in the same way you saw him go into heaven.”

A Replacement for Judas is Chosen

12 Then they returned to Jerusalems from the mountaint called the Mount of Olivess (which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journeys away).13 Whent they had entered Jerusalem,t they went to the upstairs room where they were staying. Peters and John, and James, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James were there.t14 All these continued together in prayer with one mind, together with the women, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.s15 In those dayst Peter stood up among the believerst (a gathering of about one hundred and twenty people) and said,16 “Brothers,t the scripture had to be fulfilled that the Holy Spirit foretold throught David concerning Judas – who became the guide for those who arrested Jesus –17 for he was counted as one of us and received a share in this ministry.”t18 (Now this man Judast acquired a field with the reward of his unjust deed,t and falling headfirstt he burst open in the middle and all his intestinest gushed out.19 Thist became known to all who lived in Jerusalem, so that in their own languages they called that fieldtHakeldama, that is, “Field of Blood.”)20 “For it is written in the book of Psalms, ‘Let his house become deserted,tand let there be no one to live in it,’s and ‘Let another take his position of responsibility.’ts21 Thus one of the ment who have accompanied us during all the time the Lord Jesus associated witht us,22 beginning from his baptism by John until the day het was taken up from us – one of these must become a witness of his resurrection together with us.”23 So theys proposed two candidates:t Joseph called Barsabbas (also called Justus) and Matthias.24 Then they prayed,t “Lord, you know the hearts of all. Show us which one of these two you have chosen25 to assume the taskt of this servicet and apostleship from which Judas turned asidet to go to his own place.”s

26 Thent they cast lots for them, and the one chosen was Matthias;t so he was counted with the eleven apostles.t
