使徒行伝 1

一

1-2 神を愛する親愛な友へ。
この前の手紙では、イエスの生涯とその教えについて書き、イエスが、お選びになった使徒たちに、聖霊によって指示を与え、天に帰られたところまで、お伝えしました。
3 十字架刑のあと、四十日にわたって、イエスは何度も使徒たちに姿を現わされました。　自分が、まぎれもなくイエスであることを、さまざまな方法で証明なさったのです。　またそのつど、神の国のこともお話しになりました。
イエスの昇天
4 そんなある時のことです。　イエスは使徒たちに、こうお命じになりました。　「エルサレムから離れてはいけないよ。　前にも言ったように、父が約束を果たしてくださるまで、待っていなさい。
5 バプテスマのヨハネは、水でバプテスマ（洗礼）を授けたが、もうじき、あなたがたは聖霊様によるバプテスマを受けるからだ。」
6 そこで、またイエスが姿を現わされた時、使徒たちはわくわくしながら、「主よ。　今こそ、イスラエルを解放し、独立国として再興なさるのですか」と尋ねました。
7 「それがいつかは、父がお決めになる。　あなたがたが、とやかく言うことはできないのだよ。　8 だが、聖霊様があなたがたに下る時、あなたがたは大きな力を受け、エルサレムからユダヤ全土、そしてサマリヤから地の果てまで、わたしの死と復活を伝える証人となるのだ。」
9 こうお答えになると、イエスは、あれよあれよと見守る使徒たちの目の前で、天にのぼり、たちまち雲の中に姿を消されました。　10 彼らがなおも目をこらして見上げていると、突然、白い着物をきた人が二人、そばに立って言いました。
11 「ガリラヤの人たちよ。　なぜ空ばかり見上げているのですか。　イエス様は天にのぼりましたが、いつかまた、今と同じようにして、地上へ帰って来られるのです。」
12 このことが起こったのはオリーブ山でした。　そこから一キロほど歩いてエルサレムに戻るとすぐ、　13-14 使徒たちは、泊まっていた家の二階で、祈り会を始めました。　そこにいたのは次の人たちです。
ペテロ、
ヨハネ、
ヤコブ、
アンデレ、
ピリポ、
トマス、
バルトロマイ、
マタイ、
ヤコブ〔アルパヨの息子〕、
シモン〔「熱心党」という反体制グループのメンバー〕、
ユダ〔ヤコブの息子〕、
イエスの母、兄弟たち、
何人かの婦人たち。
15 この祈り会は数日間続きました。　ある日、百二十人ほども集まっていた時、ペテロが立ち上がり、次のように提案しました。
16 「皆さん。　暴徒どもの手引きをした裏切り者のユダには、聖書のことばどおりのことが起こりました。　そうならなければならなかったのです。　ずっと昔、聖霊様によって、ダビデ王が預言したことだからです。　17 ユダは、使徒にも選ばれた、私たちの仲間でした。　18 ところが彼は、裏切りでもうけた金で畑を手に入れたものの、まっさかさまに落ちて、体が裂け、はらわたがみな飛び出すという無残な死に方をしたのです。　19 この出来事は、あっという間にエルサレム中に広まり、いつしか、人々はその場所を『血の畑』と呼ぶようになりました。　20 実は、聖書（旧約）の詩篇の中で、ダビデ王が『彼の家は荒れ果て、だれも住まなくなれ』『彼の仕事を、ほかの人に与えよ』と預言しています。
21-22 だから今、ユダの代わりにほかの人を、イエスの復活の証人に選ばなければなりません。　選ばれる者の資格ですが......、何と言っても、初めから私たちと行動を共にしてきた人でなければいけません。　そう、イエス様がヨハネからバプテスマを受けて以来、別れを告げて天にのぼられるまでの間、ずっと私たちといっしょにいた人です。」
23 一同は二名の候補者を立てました。　ユストというヨセフ〔別名バルサバ〕と、マッテヤです。
24-25 それから、ふさわしい人が選ばれるように、みな一心に祈りました。　「ああ、主よ。　あなた様はすべての人の心をご存じです。　どうぞ、裏切り者のユダの代わりに、二人のうち、どちらを使徒にお選びになるか、お示しください。　ユダは当然行くべき所に行ってしまいました。」
26 いよいよくじを引きます。　当たったのは......、マッテヤです。　こうして、ほかの十一人に、彼が使徒として加わることになりました。聖霊が下る

Acts 1

1 The former treatise I made, O Theophilus, concerning all that Jesus began both to do and to teach,2 until the day in which he was received up, after that he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit unto the apostles whom he had chosen:3 To whom he also showed himself alive after his passion by many proofs, appearing unto them by the space of forty days, and speaking the things concerning the kingdom of God:4 and, being assembled together with them, he charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, said he, ye heard from me:5 For John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days hence.6 They therefore, when they were come together, asked him, saying, Lord, dost thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know times or seasons, which the Father hath set within His own authority.8 But ye shall receive power, when the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.9 And when he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.10 And while they were looking stedfastly into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;11 who also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye looking into heaven? this Jesus, who was received up from you into heaven shall so come in like manner as ye beheld him going into heaven.12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is nigh unto Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey off.13 And when they were come in, they went up into the upper chamber, where they were abiding; both Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.14 These all with one accord continued stedfastly in prayer, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.15 And in these days Peter stood up in the midst of the brethren, and said (and there was a multitude of persons gathered together, about a hundred and twenty),16 Brethren, it was needful that the Scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spake before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to them that took Jesus.17 For he was numbered among us, and received his portion in this ministry.18 (Now this man obtained a field with the reward of his iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.19 And it became known to all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch that in their language that field was called Akeldama, that is, The field of blood.)20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be made desolate, And let no man dwell therein: and, His office let another take.

21 Of the men therefore that have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and went out among us,22 beginning from the baptism of John, unto the day that he was received up from us, of these must one become a witness with us of his resurrection.23 And they put forward two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all men, show of these two the one whom thou hast chosen,25 to take the place in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas fell away, that he might go to his own place.26 And they gave lots for them; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
