성령을 약속하심

1 “데오빌로님, 나는 첫 번째 책에서 예수께서 행하시고 가르치신 모든 일을 다루었습니다. 2 거기에 나는, 예수께서 활동을 시작하신 때로부터 그가 택하신 사도들에게 성령을 통하여 지시를 내리시고 하늘로 올라가신 날까지 하신, 모든 일을 기록했습니다. 3 예수께서 고난을 받으신 뒤에, 자기가 살아 계심을 여러 가지 증거로 드러내셨습니다. 그는 사십 일 동안 그들에게 여러 차례 나타나시고, 하나님 나라에 관한 일들을 말씀하셨습니다. 4 예수께서 사도들과 함께 t잡수실 때에 그들에게 이렇게 분부하셨습니다. “너희는 예루살렘을 떠나지 말고, 내게서 들은 아버지의 약속을 기다려라. 5 요한은 물로 t세례를 주었으나, 너희는 여러 날이 되지 않아서 성령으로 t세례를 받을 것이다.”

예수의 승천

6 사도들이 한 자리에 모였을 때에 예수께 여쭈었다. “주님, 주님께서 이스라엘에게 나라를 되찾아 주실 때가 바로 지금입니까?” 7 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “때나 시기는 아버지께서 아버지의 권한으로 정하신 것이니, 너희가 알 바가 아니다. 8 그러나 성령이 너희에게 내리시면, 너희는 능력을 받고, 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아에서, 그리고 마침내 땅 끝에까지 이르러 내 증인이 될 것이다.” 9 이 말씀을 하신 다음에, 그가 그들이 보는 앞에서 들려 올라가시니, 구름에 싸여서 보이지 않게 되었다. 10 예수께서 떠나가실 때에, 그들이 하늘을 쳐다보고 있는데, 갑자기 흰 옷을 입은 두 사람이 그들 곁에 서서 11 “갈릴리 사람들아, 어찌하여 하늘을 쳐다보면서 서 있느냐? 너희를 떠나서 하늘로 올라가신 이 예수는, 하늘로 올라가시는 것을 너희가 본 그대로 오실 것이다” 하고 말하였다.

유다 대신에 맛디아를 뽑다

12 그리고 나서 그들은 올리브 산이라고 하는 산에서 예루살렘으로 돌아왔다. 그 산은 예루살렘에서 가까워서, 안식일에도 걸을 수 있는 거리에 있다. 13 그들은 성 안으로 들어와서, 자기들이 묵고 있는 다락방으로 올라갔다. 이 사람들은 베드로와 요한과 야고보와 안드레와 빌립과 도마와 바돌로매와 마태와 알패오의 아들 야고보와 열심당원 시몬과 야고보의 아들 유다였다. 14 이들은 모두, 여자들과 예수의 어머니 마리아와 예수의 동생들과 함께 한 마음으로 기도에 힘썼다. 15 그 무렵에 t신도들이 모였는데, 그 수가 백이십 명쯤이었다. 베드로가 그 신도들 가운데 일어서서 말하였다. 16 “t형제자매 여러분, 예수를 잡아간 사람들의 앞잡이가 된 유다에 관하여, 성령이 다윗의 입을 빌어 미리 말씀하신 그 성경 말씀이 마땅히 이루어져야만 하였습니다. 17 그는 우리 가운데 한 사람으로서, 이 직무의 한 몫을 맡았습니다. 18 그런데, 이 사람은 불의한 삯으로 밭을 샀습니다. 그러나 그는 거꾸러져서, 배가 터지고, 창자가 쏟아졌습니다. 19 이 일은 예루살렘에 사는 모든 주민이 다 알고 있습니다. 그래서 그들은 그 땅을 자기들의 말로 아겔다마라고 하였는데, 그것은 ‘피의 땅’이라는 뜻입니다. 20 시편에 기록하기를 t‘그의 거처가 폐허가 되게 하시고, 그 안에서 사는 사람이 없게 하십시오’ 하였고, 또 말하기를 t‘그의 직분을 다른 사람이 차지하게 해 주십시오’ 하였습니다.

21 그러므로 주 예수께서 우리와 함께 지내시는 동안에, 22 곧 요한이 t세례를 주던 때로부터 예수께서 우리를 떠나 하늘로 올라가신 날까지 늘 우리와 함께 다니던 사람 가운데서 한 사람을 뽑아서, 우리와 더불어 부활의 증인으로 삼아야 할 것입니다.” 23 그리하여 그들은 바사바라고도 하고 유스도라고도 하는 요셉과 맛디아 두 사람을 앞에 세우고서, 24 기도하여 아뢰었다. “모든 사람의 마음을 다 아시는 주님, 주님께서 이 두 사람 가운데서 누구를 뽑아서, 25 이 섬기는 일과 사도직의 직분을 맡게 하실지를, 우리에게 보여 주십시오. 유다는 이 직분을 버리고 제 갈 곳으로 갔습니다.” 26 그리고 그들에게 제비를 뽑게 하니, 맛디아가 뽑혀서, 열한 사도와 함께 사도의 수에 들게 되었다.

ACTS 1

1  t Theophilus, I first wrote to yout about all that Jesus did and taught from the very first

2 until he was taken up to heaven. But before he was taken up, he gave orders to the apostles he had chosen with the help of the Holy Spirit.
3 For 40 days after Jesus had suffered and died, he proved in many ways that he had been raised from death. He appeared to his apostles and spoke to them about God's kingdom.

4 t While he was still with them, he said:
Don't leave Jerusalem yet. Wait here for the Father to give you the Holy Spirit, just as I told you he has promised to do.

5 t John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Is Taken to Heaven

6 While the apostles were still with Jesus, they asked him, “Lord, are you now going to give Israel its own king again?”t
7 Jesus said to them, “You don't need to know the time of those events that only the Father controls. 8 t But the Holy Spirit will come upon you and give you power. Then you will tell everyone about me in Jerusalem, in all Judea, in Samaria, and everywhere in the world.” 9 t After Jesus had said this and while they were watching, he was taken up into a cloud. They could not see him,

10 but as he went up, they kept looking up into the sky.
Suddenly two men dressed in white clothes were standing there beside them.

11 They said, “Why are you men from Galilee standing here and looking up into the sky? Jesus has been taken to heaven. But he will come back in the same way you have seen him go.”

Someone To Take the Place //of Judas

12-13  t The Mount of Olives was about a kilometer from Jerusalem. The apostles who had gone there were Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon, known as the Eager One, t and Judas the son of James.
After the apostles returned to the city, they went upstairs to the room where they had been staying.
14 The apostles often met together and prayed with a single purpose in mind.t The women and Mary the mother of Jesus would meet with them, and so would his brothers. 15 One day there were about 120 of the Lord's followers meeting together, and Peter stood up to speak to them.

16-17 He said:
My friends, long ago by the power of the Holy Spirit, David said something about Judas, and what he said has now happened. Judas was one of us and had worked with us, but he brought the mob to arrest Jesus. 18 t Then Judas bought some land with the money he was given for doing that evil thing. He fell headfirst into the field. His body burst open, and all his insides came out.

19 When the people of Jerusalem found out about this, they called the place Akeldama, which in the local language means “Field of Blood.”

20  t In the book of Psalms it says,
“Leave his house empty,
and don't let anyone
live there.”
It also says,
“Let someone else
have his job.”

21-22  t So we need someone else to help us tell others that Jesus has been raised from death. He must also be one of the men who was with us from the very beginning. He must have been with us from the time the Lord Jesus was baptized by John until the day he was taken to heaven.
23 Two men were suggested: One of them was Joseph Barsabbas, known as Justus, and the other was Matthias. 24 Then they all prayed, “Lord, you know what everyone is like! Show us the one you have chosen 25 to be an apostle and to serve in place of Judas, who got what he deserved.” 26 They drew names, and Matthias was chosen to join the group of the eleven apostles.
