Hechos 1

Introducción

1 En el primer relato, estimado Teófilo, escribí acerca de todo lo que Jesús comenzó a hacer y a enseñar,2 hasta el día en que fue recibido arriba en el cielo , después de que por el Espíritu Santo El había dado instrucciones a los apóstoles que había escogido.

3 A éstos también, después de Su padecimiento, se presentó vivo con muchas pruebas convincentes, apareciéndoseles durante cuarenta días y hablándoles de lo relacionado con el reino de Dios.
4 Y reuniéndolos, les mandó que no salieran de Jerusalén (Ciudad de Paz), sino que esperaran la promesa del Padre: "La cual," les dijo, "oyeron de Mí;

5 porque Juan bautizó con agua, pero ustedes serán bautizados con el Espíritu Santo dentro de pocos días."

La Ascensión

6 Entonces los que estaban reunidos, Le preguntaban: "Señor, ¿restaurarás en este tiempo el reino a Israel?"7 Jesús les contestó: "No les corresponde a ustedes saber los tiempos ni las épocas que el Padre ha fijado con Su propia autoridad;

8 pero recibirán poder cuando el Espíritu Santo venga sobre ustedes; y serán Mis testigos en Jerusalén, en toda Judea y Samaria, y hasta los confines de la tierra."
9 Después de haber dicho estas cosas, fue elevado mientras ellos miraban, y una nube Lo recibió y Lo ocultó de sus ojos.10 Mientras Jesús ascendía, estando ellos mirando fijamente al cielo, se les presentaron dos hombres en vestiduras blancas,

11 que les dijeron: "Varones Galileos, ¿por qué están mirando al cielo? Este mismo Jesús, que ha sido tomado de ustedes al cielo, vendrá de la misma manera, tal como Lo han visto ir al cielo."

En el Aposento Alto

12 Entonces los discípulos regresaron a Jerusalén desde el monte llamado de los Olivos, que está cerca de Jerusalén, camino de un día de reposo (1.2 km).13 Cuando hubieron entrado en la ciudad, subieron al aposento alto donde estaban hospedados, Pedro, Juan, Jacobo (hermano de Juan) y Andrés, Felipe y Tomás, Bartolomé y Mateo, Jacobo hijo de Alfeo, Simón el Zelote y Judas, hijo de Jacobo.

14 Todos éstos estaban unánimes, entregados de continuo a la oración junto con las mujeres, y con María la madre de Jesús, y con Sus hermanos.

La Suerte de Judas y la Elección de Matías

15 Por este tiempo, un grupo como de ciento veinte personas estaba reunido allí, y Pedro se puso de pie en medio de los hermanos, y dijo:

16 "Hermanos, tenía que cumplirse la Escritura en que por boca de David el Espíritu Santo predijo acerca de Judas (Iscariote), el que se hizo guía de los que prendieron a Jesús.
17 Porque Judas era contado entre nosotros y recibió parte en este ministerio."18 Este, pues, con el precio de su terrible infamia (iniquidad) adquirió un terreno, y cayendo de cabeza se reventó por el medio, y todas sus entrañas se derramaron.

19  Esto llegó al conocimiento de todos los que habitaban en Jerusalén, de manera que aquel terreno se llamó en su propia lengua Acéldama, es decir, campo de sangre.
20 Pues en el Libro de los Salmos está escrito: "Que sea hecha desierta su morada, y no haya quien habite en ella; Y: Que otro tome su cargo."21 Por tanto, es necesario que de los hombres que nos han acompañado todo el tiempo que el Señor Jesús vivió entre nosotros,

22 comenzando desde el bautismo de Juan, hasta el día en que de entre nosotros Jesús fue recibido arriba al cielo , uno sea constituido testigo con nosotros de Su resurrección."
23 Presentaron a dos: a José, llamado Barsabás, al que también llamaban Justo, y a Matías.24 Después de orar, dijeron: "Tú, Señor, que conoces el corazón de todos, muéstra nos a cuál de estos dos has escogido25 para ocupar (tomar el lugar de) este ministerio y apostolado, del cual Judas se desvió para irse al lugar que le correspondía."26 Echaron suertes y la suerte cayó sobre Matías, y fue contado (escogido) con los once apóstoles.

Acts 1

Jesus Ascends to Heaven

1 I wrotet the formert account,ts Theophilus,t about all that Jesus began to do and teach2 until the day he was taken up to heaven,t after he had given orderst byt the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.3 To the same apostlest also, after his suffering,s he presented himself alive with many convincing proofs. He was seen by them over a forty-day periodt and spoke about matters concerning the kingdom of God.4 While he was with them,t he declared,t “Do not leave Jerusalem,s but wait theret for what myt Father promised,t which you heard about from me.t

5 Fort John baptized with water, but yout will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
6 So when they had gathered together, they began to ask him,t “Lord, is this the time when you are restoring the kingdom to Israel?”7 He told them, “You are not permitted to knowt the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority.8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the farthest partst of the earth.”9 Aftert he had said this, while they were watching, he was lifted up and a cloud hid him from their sight.10 Ast they were still staring into the sky while he was going, suddenlyt two men in white clothing stood near them

11 and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand heret looking up into the sky? This same Jesus who has been taken up from you into heavenst will come back in the same way you saw him go into heaven.”

A Replacement for Judas is Chosen

12 Then they returned to Jerusalems from the mountaint called the Mount of Olivess (which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journeys away).13 Whent they had entered Jerusalem,t they went to the upstairs room where they were staying. Peters and John, and James, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James were there.t14 All these continued together in prayer with one mind, together with the women, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.s15 In those dayst Peter stood up among the believerst (a gathering of about one hundred and twenty people) and said,16 “Brothers,t the scripture had to be fulfilled that the Holy Spirit foretold throught David concerning Judas – who became the guide for those who arrested Jesus –17 for he was counted as one of us and received a share in this ministry.”t18 (Now this man Judast acquired a field with the reward of his unjust deed,t and falling headfirstt he burst open in the middle and all his intestinest gushed out.19 Thist became known to all who lived in Jerusalem, so that in their own languages they called that fieldtHakeldama, that is, “Field of Blood.”)20 “For it is written in the book of Psalms, ‘Let his house become deserted,tand let there be no one to live in it,’s and ‘Let another take his position of responsibility.’ts21 Thus one of the ment who have accompanied us during all the time the Lord Jesus associated witht us,22 beginning from his baptism by John until the day het was taken up from us – one of these must become a witness of his resurrection together with us.”23 So theys proposed two candidates:t Joseph called Barsabbas (also called Justus) and Matthias.24 Then they prayed,t “Lord, you know the hearts of all. Show us which one of these two you have chosen25 to assume the taskt of this servicet and apostleship from which Judas turned asidet to go to his own place.”s

26 Thent they cast lots for them, and the one chosen was Matthias;t so he was counted with the eleven apostles.t
