一三

1 アンテオケの教会の預言者や教師たちの中には、次の人たちがいました。　バルナバ、シメオン〔別名「黒い人」〕、ルキオ〔クレネ出身〕、マナエン〔ヘロデ王とは乳兄弟〕、それにパウロなどです。　2 ある日、これらの人たちが礼拝をささげ、断食していると、聖霊が、「バルナバとパウロに、わたしの特別な仕事をさせなさい」と言われました。　3 それで、さらに断食して祈ったあと、二人に手を置いて任命し、出発させました。
4 二人は聖霊に導かれてセルキヤに行き、そこから、船でキプロス島に向かいました。　5 島のサラミスという町に着くと、さっそくユダヤ人の会堂に出向いて説教です。　ヨハネと呼ばれるマルコも、助手として同行しました。　6-7 このあと、町から町へと、島中を巡り歩いて説教を続け、最後にパポスという町に来ました。　そこで、偽預言者でバルイエスと名乗る魔術師に出会ったのです。　この男は、総督のセルギオ・パウロの取り巻きの一人でしたが、総督自身は物事に明るい、たいへん理解のある人でした。　かねがね神の教えを聞きたいと思っていた総督は、この機会にバルナバとパウロとを招きました。　8 ところが、強力な反対者が現われました。　魔術師エルマ〔バルイエスのギリシヤ名〕です。　彼は、パウロやバルナバのことばに耳を傾けないようにとそそのかし、何としても、総督に主を信じさせまいとやっきになりました。
9 しかし、パウロは聖霊に満たされ、魔術師をきっとにらみつけ、　10 「悪魔の子、ぺてん師めっ！　おまえのように悪事にたけたやつは、正義の敵だ。　どこまで主に反抗するつもりか。　11 さあ、神様のさばきを受けるがいい。　そうだ。　おまえは盲目になる。　しばらくの間、日の光が見えなくなるのだっ！」とどなりつけました。
するとたちまち、かすみとやみとが彼をすっぽりおおい、彼は、「おーい、だれか手を引いてくれーっ」と叫びながら、手さぐりで歩き回りました。　12 この出来事を目のあたりにした総督は、神を信じ、今さらのように神の教えの偉大さにびっくりしました。
トルコへ
13 さて、パウロ一行はトルコに向かうため、船でパポスを発ち、ペルガの港に上陸しました。　ここまで来ると、マルコは二人を捨て、一人でさっさとエルサレムに帰ってしまいました。　14 しかしバルナバとパウロは、ピシデヤ地方の町、アンテオケに行きました。
安息日になり、二人は会堂へ出かけました。　礼拝をするためです。　15 いつものとおり、モーセの書と預言者の書からの朗読がすむと、会堂の管理人たちが、二人に言ってよこしました。　「おふた方。　何かお話ししていただけますか。　よろしかったら、お願いします。」
16 そこで、パウロが立ち上がり、会衆にあいさつしてから、話し始めました。
「イスラエルの人たち、ならびに、ここにおられる神様を敬う皆さん、お聞きください。　まず、私たちの歴史からお話ししましょう。
17 イスラエルの神様は、私たちのご先祖をお選びになりました。　そして、エジプトで奴隷にされた彼らを、目を見張るような方法で救い出し、名誉を回復してくださったのです。　18 彼らが荒野をさまよい歩いた四十年の間も、ずっと養い続けてくださいました。　19-20 また、カナンの七つの民族を滅ぼし、その土地を相続財産として、分配なさいました。　こうなるまでに約四百五十年もかかりました。　そのあとは、預言者サムエルが現われるまで、さばき人が国の秩序を保っていたのです。
21 やがて人々は、王がほしいと言いだしました。　そこで神様は、ベニヤミン族のキスの息子サウロを王とし、四十年間、国を治めさせました。　22 しかし、そのサウロも神様に退けられ、代わりにダビデが王になりました。　このダビデのことを、神様は『エッサイの息子ダビデこそ、わたしの心にかなう者、わたしの意志に完全に従ってくれる者だ』と言われました。　23 このダビデ王の子孫から、約束どおり、イスラエルの救い主、イエス様を起こしてくださったのです。
24 この方がおいでになる前に、バプテスマのヨハネは、イスラエルの全国民が罪を捨て、神様に立ち返らなければならないと教えました。　25 そのヨハネが、働きを終える時、こう言いきったのです。　『あなたがたは、私をだれだと思っているのか。　私はメシヤ（救い主）ではない。　ほんとうのメシヤはまもなくおいでになる。　この方に比べれば、私など、全く取るに足りない。』
26 アブラハムの子孫の方々、ならびに、神様を敬う外国人の皆さん。　この救いは、私たちみんなのものです。　27 エルサレムにいるユダヤ人とその指導者たちは、イエス様を処刑することで、皮肉にも、預言を実現させたのです。　安息日ごとに預言者のことばが読まれるのを聞きながら、イエス様こそ、その預言されたお方であることを認めようとしませんでした。　28 そして、正当な理由は何一つなかったのに、どうしても死刑にしてほしいと、ピラトに要求したのです。　29 こうして、何もかも預言どおりに、イエス様は死なれたのです。　そのあと、イエス様の遺体は十字架から降ろされ、墓に葬られました。
30 しかし神様は、このイエス様を復活させてくださったのです。　31 イエス様は幾日もの間、ガリラヤからエルサレムまで、ずっと行動を共にした人たちに、たびたび姿を現わしました。　復活のイエス様にお会いした人たちはいつも、人々に、このことを証言し続けてきたのです。
32-33 バルナバと私もまた、この喜ばしい知らせを伝えようと、こうして、わざわざやって来たのです。　その知らせとは、神様がイエス様を復活させたことによって、私たちのご先祖への約束が、今の時代に実現したということです。　旧約聖書の詩篇の第二篇に、『今日、わたしはあなたに、子としての名誉を与えた』とあるとおりです。
34 神様はイエス様を復活させ、二度と死なない方となさいました。　聖書に、『わたしはダビデに約束したすばらしい祝福を、あなたがたに与える』とあるとおりです。　35 また詩篇のほかの個所では、もっとはっきりしています。　『神様は、ご自分の聖なる方が、朽ち果てるのをお許しにならない。』　36 これは、ダビデのことではありません。ダビデは、神様のお心のままに、当時の人たちに仕えた後、死んで葬られ、その体は朽ち果てたからです。　37 しかし、神様が復活させた方は、墓の中で朽ちはしませんでした。
38 聞いてください、皆さん！　このイエス様こそ、皆さんの罪を赦してくださるのです。　39 イエス様を信じる人はみな、すべての罪から解放され、正しい者と宣言されるのです。　これは、モーセの法律では、どうしてもできないことでした。　40 くれぐれも注意してください。　預言者たちの次のことばが、皆さんに的中しないように。
41 『見ろ。　そして滅べ。
真理を見下す者どもよ。
おまえたちの時代に、一つのことをしよう。
どんなに説明しても、
とうてい信じられないことを。』」
42 その日、会堂からの帰り道、人々はパウロに、次の週も、また話してほしいと頼みました。　43 礼拝が終わってからも大ぜいのユダヤ人や信心深い外国人が、パウロとバルナバについて来たのです。　二人は、その人たちに、神の恵みを受けるようにと教えました。　44 次の週の礼拝には、町中の人がこぞって詰めかけ、二人が神のことばを話すのを聞こうとしました。
45 しかし、ユダヤ人の指導者たちは、この群衆を見て、ねたみに駆られ、口ぎたなくののしり、ことごとくパウロに反対しました。
46 そこでパウロとバルナバは、きっぱり言ってやりました。　「この神様からのすばらしい知らせは、まずあなたがたユダヤ人に伝えられるはずだった。　だが、あなたがたはそれを突っぱね、永遠のいのちを受けるにふさわしくない者であることを、自分から証明したのだ。　いいだろう。　これからは、このすばらしい知らせは、外国人に伝えよう。　47 主のご命令のとおりにな。　主は、『わたしはあなたを外国人の光とした。　地の果てからも、人々を救いに導くためである』と言っておられるのだ。」
48 これを聞いた外国人たちは、うれしさを隠しきれません。　喜んで、パウロの話に耳を傾けました。　そして永遠のいのちを求める人はみな、信仰に入りました。　49 こうして神の教えは、この地方全体に広まったのです。
50 しかし、ユダヤ人の指導者たちも、おとなしく引き下がってはいません。　うまいこと信心深い婦人や町の有力者たちをそそのかし、パウロとバルナバを迫害したあげく、とうとう町から追い出してしまいました。　51 二人は、その町と縁を切るしるしに、足のちりを払い落とし、イコニオムへ向かいました。　52 一方、主を信じた人たちは聖霊に満たされ、喜びにあふれていました。

Acts 13

1 Now there were at Antioch, in the church that was there, prophets and teachers, Barnabas, and Symeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen the foster-brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.2 And as they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.3 Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.5 And when they were at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John as their attendant.6 And when they had gone through the whole island unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus;7 who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of understanding. The same called unto him Barnabas and Saul, and sought to hear the word of God.8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn aside the proconsul from the faith.9 But Saul, who is also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, fastened his eyes on him,10 and said, O full of all guile and all villany, thou son of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.12 Then the proconsul, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord.13 Now Paul and his company set sail from Paphos, and came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departed from them and returned to Jerusalem.14 But they, passing through from Perga, came to Antioch of Pisidia; and they went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.16 And Paul stood up, and beckoning with the hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, hearken:17 The God of this people Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they sojourned in the land of Egypt, and with a high arm led he them forth out of it.18 And for about the time of forty years as a nursing-father bare he them in the wilderness.19 And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land for an inheritance, for about four hundred and fifty years:20 and after these things he gave them judges until Samuel the prophet.21 And afterward they asked for a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for the space of forty years.22 And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king; to whom also he bare witness and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who shall do all My will.23 Of this man’s seed hath God according to promise brought unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus;24 when John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.25 And as John was fulfilling his course, he said, What suppose ye that I am? I am not he. But behold, there cometh one after me the shoes of whose feet I am not worthy to unloose.26 Brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and those among you that fear God, to us is the word of this salvation sent forth.27 For they that dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him.28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet asked they of Pilate that he should be slain.29 And when they had fulfilled all things that were written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a tomb.30 But God raised him from the dead:31 and he was seen for many days of them that came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses unto the people.32 And we bring you good tidings of the promise made unto the fathers,33 that God hath fulfilled the same unto our children, in that he raised up Jesus; as also it is written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he hath spoken on this wise, I will give you the holy and sure blessings of David.35 Because he saith also in another psalm, Thou wilt not give Thy Holy One to see corruption.36 For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:37 but he whom God raised up saw no corruption.38 Be it known unto you therefore, brethren, that through this man is proclaimed unto you remission of sins:39 and by him every one that believeth is justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you which is spoken in the prophets:

41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish; For I work a work in your days, A work which ye shall in no wise believe, if one declare it unto you.

42 And as they went out, they besought that these words might be spoken to them the next sabbath.43 Now when the synagogue broke up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas; who, speaking to them, urged them to continue in the grace of God.44 And the next sabbath almost the whole city was gathered together to hear the word of God.45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted the things which were spoken by Paul, and blasphemed.46 And Paul and Barnabas spake out boldly, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first be spoken to you. Seeing ye thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee for a light of the Gentiles, That thou shouldest be for salvation unto the uttermost part of the earth.

48 And as the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of God: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.49 And the word of the Lord was spread abroad throughout all the region.50 But the Jews urged on the devout women of honorable estate, and the chief men of the city, and stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and cast them out of their borders.51 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.52 And the disciples were filled with joy with the Holy Spirit.
