En Corinto

1 Después de esto, Pablo se marchó de Atenas y se fue a Corinto. 2 Allí se encontró con un judío llamado Aquila, natural del Ponto, y con su esposa Priscila. Hacía poco habían llegado de Italia, porque Claudio había mandado que todos los judíos fueran expulsados de Roma. Pablo fue a verlos 3 y, como hacía tiendas de campaña al igual que ellos, se quedó para que trabajaran juntos. 4 Todos los *sábados discutía en la sinagoga, tratando de persuadir a judíos y a *griegos.
5 Cuando Silas y Timoteo llegaron de Macedonia, Pablo se dedicó exclusivamente a la predicación, testificándoles a los judíos que Jesús era el *Mesías. 6 Pero cuando los judíos se opusieron a Pablo y lo insultaron, éste se sacudió la ropa en señal de protesta y les dijo: «¡Caiga la sangre de ustedes sobre su propia cabeza! Estoy libre de responsabilidad. De ahora en adelante me dirigiré a los *gentiles.»
7 Entonces Pablo salió de la sinagoga y se fue a la casa de un tal Ticio Justo, que adoraba a Dios y que vivía al lado de la sinagoga. 8 Crispo, el jefe de la sinagoga, creyó en el Señor con toda su familia. También creyeron y fueron bautizados muchos de los corintios que oyeron a Pablo.
9 Una noche el Señor le dijo a Pablo en una visión: «No tengas miedo; sigue hablando y no te calles, 10 pues estoy contigo. Aunque te ataquen, no voy a dejar que nadie te haga daño, porque tengo mucha gente en esta ciudad.» 11 Así que Pablo se quedó allí un año y medio, enseñando entre el pueblo la palabra de Dios.
12 Mientras Galión era gobernadors de Acaya, los judíos a una atacaron a Pablo y lo condujeron al tribunal.
13 —Este hombre —denunciaron ellos— anda persuadiendo a la gente a adorar a Dios de una manera que va en contra de nuestra ley.
14 Pablo ya iba a hablar cuando Galión les dijo:
—Si ustedes los judíos estuvieran entablando una demanda sobre algún delito o algún crimen grave, sería razonable que los escuchara. 15 Pero como se trata de cuestiones de palabras, de nombres y de su propia ley, arréglense entre ustedes. No quiero ser juez de tales cosas.
16 Así que mandó que los expulsaran del tribunal. 17 Entonces se abalanzaron todos sobre Sóstenes, el jefe de la sinagoga, y lo golpearon delante del tribunal. Pero Galión no le dio ninguna importancia al asunto.

Priscila, Aquila y Apolos

18 Pablo permaneció en Corinto algún tiempo más. Después se despidió de los hermanos y emprendió el viaje rumbo a Siria, acompañado de Priscila y Aquila. En Cencreas, antes de embarcarse, se hizo rapar la cabeza a causa de un voto que había hecho. 19 Al llegar a Éfeso, Pablo se separó de sus acompañantes y entró en la sinagoga, donde se puso a discutir con los judíos. 20 Éstos le pidieron que se quedara más tiempo con ellos. Él no accedió, 21 pero al despedirse les prometió: «Ya volveré, si Dios quiere.» Y zarpó de Éfeso. 22 Cuando desembarcó en Cesarea, subió a Jerusalén a saludar a la iglesia y luego bajó a Antioquía.
23 Después de pasar algún tiempo allí, Pablo se fue a visitar una por una las congregacioness de Galacia y Frigia, animando a todos los discípulos.
24 Por aquel entonces llegó a Éfeso un judío llamado Apolos, natural de Alejandría. Era un hombre ilustrado y convincente en el uso de las Escrituras. 25 Había sido instruido en el camino del Señor, y con gran fervors hablaba y enseñaba con la mayor exactitud acerca de Jesús, aunque conocía sólo el bautismo de Juan. 26 Comenzó a hablar valientemente en la sinagoga. Al oírlo Priscila y Aquila, lo tomaron a su cargo y le explicaron con mayor precisión el camino de Dios.
27 Como Apolos quería pasar a Acaya, los hermanos lo animaron y les escribieron a los discípulos de allá para que lo recibieran. Cuando llegó, ayudó mucho a quienes por la gracia habían creído, 28 pues refutaba vigorosamente en público a los judíos, demostrando por las Escrituras que Jesús es el *Mesías.

ACTS 18

Paul in Corinth

1 Paul left Athens and went to Corinth, 2 where he met Aquila, a Jewish man from Pontus. Not long before this, Aquila had come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Emperor Claudius had ordered the Jewish people to leave Rome.t Paul went to see Aquila and Priscilla

3 and found out they were tent makers. Paul was also a tent maker, so he stayed with them, and they worked together.
4 Every Sabbath, Paul went to the synagogue. He spoke to Jews and Gentilest and tried to win them over. 5 But after Silas and Timothy came from Macedonia, he spent all his time preaching to the Jews about Jesus the Messiah.

6 Finally, they turned against him and insulted him. So he shook the dust from his clothest and told them, “Whatever happens to you will be your own fault! I am not to blame. From now on I am going to preach to the Gentiles.”
7 Paul then moved into the house of a man named Titius Justus, who worshiped God and lived next door to the synagogue.

8 Crispus was the leader of the synagogue. He and everyone in his family put their faith in the Lord. Many others in Corinth also heard the message, and all the people who had faith in the Lord were baptized.
9 One night, Paul had a vision, and in it the Lord said, “Don't be afraid to keep on preaching. Don't stop! 10 I am with you, and you won't be harmed. Many people in this city belong to me.”

11 Paul stayed on in Corinth for a year and a half, teaching God's message to the people.
12 While Gallio was governor of Achaia, some of the Jewish leaders got together and grabbed Paul. They brought him into court

13 and said, “This man is trying to make our people worship God in a way that is against our Law!”
14 Even before Paul could speak, Gallio said, “If you were charging this man with a crime or some other wrong, I would have to listen to you. 15 But since this concerns only words, names, and your own law, you will have to take care of it yourselves. I refuse to judge such matters.” 16 Then he sent them out of the court.

17 The crowd grabbed Sosthenes, the Jewish leader, and beat him up in front of the court. But none of this mattered to Gallio.

Paul Returns to //Antioch in Syria

18  t After Paul had stayed for a while with the Lord's followers in Corinth, he told them goodbye and sailed on to Syria with Aquila and Priscilla. But before he left, he had his head shavedt at Cenchreae because he had made a promise to God.
19 The three of them arrived in Ephesus, where Paul left Priscilla and Aquila. He then went into the synagogue to talk with the people there. 20 They asked him to stay longer, but he refused.

21 He told them goodbye and said, “If God lets me, I will come back.”
22 Paul sailed to Caesarea, where he greeted the church. Then he went on to Antioch.

23 After staying there for a while, he left and visited several places in Galatia and Phrygia. He helped the followers there to become stronger in their faith.

Apollos in Ephesus

25 He also knew much about the Lord's Way, t and he spoke about it with great excitement. What he taught about Jesus was right, but all he knew was John's message about baptism.

26 Apollos started speaking bravely in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him to their home and helped him understand God's Way even better.
27 Apollos decided to travel through Achaia. So the Lord's followers wrote letters, encouraging the followers there to welcome him. After Apollos arrived in Achaia, he was a great help to everyone who had put their faith in the Lord Jesus because of God's gift of undeserved grace. 28 He got into fierce arguments with the Jewish people, and in public he used the Scriptures to prove that Jesus is the Messiah.
