Phao-lô tại Cô-rinh-tô
1 Sau đó, Phao-lô rời A-thên đi Cô-rinh-tô. 2 Tại đó, ông gặp một người Do Thái tên A-qui-la, quê ở xứ Pông, cùng với vợ là Pê-rít-sin mới từ I-ta-li-a đến đây, vì vua Cơ-lốt đã ra lệnh cho tất cả người Do Thái phải rời khỏi Rô-ma. Phao-lô đến thăm họ; 3 vì cùng làm nghề may trại nên Phao-lô ở nhà hai người để làm việc với nhau. 4 Vào mỗi ngày sa-bát, Phao-lô giảng luận trong nhà hội, cố thuyết phục người Do Thái lẫn người Hi Lạp. 5 Khi Si-la và Ti-mô-thê từ Ma-xê-đô-ni-a đến thì Phao-lô chỉ chuyên lo việc giảng dạy, minh chứng cho người Do Thái rằng Đức Chúa Jêsus chính là Đấng Christ. 6 Nhưng vì họ chống đối và nói phạm thượng, nên ông giũ áo mà bảo họ rằng: “Máu các ông đổ lại trên đầu các ông! Còn tôi thì vô tội. Từ nay, tôi sẽ đi đến với các dân ngoại.” 7 Phao-lô rời khỏi đó, vào nhà một người tên Ti-ti-u Giút-tu, người kính thờ Đức Chúa Trời; nhà ông ở bên cạnh nhà hội. 8 Bấy giờ Cơ-rít-pu, viên quản lý nhà hội, cùng cả nhà ông đều tin Chúa. Cũng có nhiều người Cô-rinh-tô nghe Phao-lô giảng thì tin và nhận báp-têm. 9 Ban đêm, Chúa phán với Phao-lô trong một khải tượng: “Đừng sợ! Nhưng hãy nói và chớ làm thinh; 10 Ta ở cùng con, chẳng ai tấn công, làm hại con được đâu, vì Ta có nhiều người trong thành nầy.”
11 Phao-lô ở lại đó một năm sáu tháng, dạy lời Đức Chúa Trời cho họ.
12 Nhưng khi Ga-li-ôn đang làm tổng đốc tỉnh A-chai, người Do Thái hiệp lại tấn công Phao-lô và đưa ông ra tòa án. 13 Họ tố cáo: “Tên nầy xúi giục dân chúng thờ phượng Đức Chúa Trời một cách trái luật pháp.” 14 Khi Phao-lô sắp mở miệng trả lời thì Ga-li-ôn bảo dân Do Thái: “Hỡi người Do Thái, nếu đây là vấn đề phạm pháp hay tội ác thì ta có lý do để kiên nhẫn nghe các ngươi. 15 Nhưng vì đây là vấn đề tranh biện về ngôn từ, danh hiệu và luật pháp riêng của các ngươi nên hãy tự xử lấy; ta không muốn xét xử những việc đó đâu.” 16 Rồi ông đuổi họ ra khỏi tòa án.
17 Bấy giờ, họ bắt Sốt-then, viên quản lý nhà hội, đánh đòn trước tòa án, nhưng Ga-li-ôn chẳng quan tâm đến việc đó.Trở về An-ti-ốt
18 Phao-lô ở lại Cô-rinh-tô lâu ngày, rồi từ giã anh em, đáp tàu qua Sy-ri cùng với Pê-rít-sin và A-qui-la. Ở Sen-cơ-rê, ông xuống tóc vì có lời thề nguyện.tt 19 Khi họ đến Ê-phê-sô, Phao-lô chia tay các bạn mình, rồi vào nhà hội biện luận với những người Do Thái. 20 Họ mời ông ở lại một thời gian nữa, nhưng ông từ chối.
21 Ông giã từ họ và nói: “Nếu Đức Chúa Trời muốn, tôi sẽ trở lại với anh em.” Rồi ông xuống tàu rời Ê-phê-sô.
22 Khi đến Sê-sa-rê, ông lên Giê-ru-sa-lem chào thăm Hội Thánh, rồi lại xuống An-ti-ốt.
23 Sau khi ở đó ít lâu, ông lên đường, lần lượt đi khắp Ga-la-ti và Phi-ri-gi, làm cho tất cả môn đồ được vững mạnh.A-pô-lô tại Ê-phê-sô và Cô-rinh-tô
24 Bấy giờ, có một người Do Thái tên A-pô-lô, quê ở A-léc-xan-đờ-ri-a, đến Ê-phê-sô. Ông có tài hùng biện và am hiểu Kinh Thánh. 25 Ông đã học đạo Chúa, có tinh thần sốt sắng rao giảng và dạy dỗ một cách chính xác những điều về Đức Chúa Jêsus, mặc dù ông chỉ biết báp-têm của Giăng mà thôi. 26 Ông bắt đầu giảng một cách dạn dĩ trong nhà hội. Khi Pê-rít-sin và A-qui-la nghe ông giảng, họ đem ông về nhà, giải nghĩa đạo Đức Chúa Trời cho ông kỹ càng hơn. 27 Khi A-pô-lô muốn đi qua A-chai, anh em khích lệ ông và viết thư dặn các môn đồ phải tiếp đãi ông tử tế. Khi đến nơi, ông giúp đỡ rất nhiều cho những người đã nhờ ân điển mà tin Chúa, 28 vì ông đã công khai phản bác người Do Thái một cách mạnh mẽ, dùng Kinh Thánh minh chứng rằng Đức Chúa Jêsus chính là Đấng Christ.
ACTS 18
Paul in Corinth
1 Paul left Athens and went to Corinth, 2 where he met Aquila, a Jewish man from Pontus. Not long before this, Aquila had come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Emperor Claudius had ordered the Jewish people to leave Rome.t Paul went to see Aquila and Priscilla
3 and found out they were tent makers. Paul was also a tent maker, so he stayed with them, and they worked together.
4 Every Sabbath, Paul went to the synagogue. He spoke to Jews and Gentilest and tried to win them over. 5 But after Silas and Timothy came from Macedonia, he spent all his time preaching to the Jews about Jesus the Messiah.
6 Finally, they turned against him and insulted him. So he shook the dust from his clothest and told them, “Whatever happens to you will be your own fault! I am not to blame. From now on I am going to preach to the Gentiles.”
7 Paul then moved into the house of a man named Titius Justus, who worshiped God and lived next door to the synagogue.
8 Crispus was the leader of the synagogue. He and everyone in his family put their faith in the Lord. Many others in Corinth also heard the message, and all the people who had faith in the Lord were baptized.
9 One night, Paul had a vision, and in it the Lord said, “Don't be afraid to keep on preaching. Don't stop! 10 I am with you, and you won't be harmed. Many people in this city belong to me.”
11 Paul stayed on in Corinth for a year and a half, teaching God's message to the people.
12 While Gallio was governor of Achaia, some of the Jewish leaders got together and grabbed Paul. They brought him into court
13 and said, “This man is trying to make our people worship God in a way that is against our Law!”
14 Even before Paul could speak, Gallio said, “If you were charging this man with a crime or some other wrong, I would have to listen to you. 15 But since this concerns only words, names, and your own law, you will have to take care of it yourselves. I refuse to judge such matters.” 16 Then he sent them out of the court.
17 The crowd grabbed Sosthenes, the Jewish leader, and beat him up in front of the court. But none of this mattered to Gallio.Paul Returns to //Antioch in Syria
18 t After Paul had stayed for a while with the Lord's followers in Corinth, he told them goodbye and sailed on to Syria with Aquila and Priscilla. But before he left, he had his head shavedt at Cenchreae because he had made a promise to God.
19 The three of them arrived in Ephesus, where Paul left Priscilla and Aquila. He then went into the synagogue to talk with the people there. 20 They asked him to stay longer, but he refused.
21 He told them goodbye and said, “If God lets me, I will come back.”
22 Paul sailed to Caesarea, where he greeted the church. Then he went on to Antioch.
23 After staying there for a while, he left and visited several places in Galatia and Phrygia. He helped the followers there to become stronger in their faith.Apollos in Ephesus
24 A Jewish man named Apollos came to Ephesus. Apollos had been born in the city of Alexandria. He was a very good speaker and knew a lot about the Scriptures.
25 He also knew much about the Lord's Way, t and he spoke about it with great excitement. What he taught about Jesus was right, but all he knew was John's message about baptism.
26 Apollos started speaking bravely in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him to their home and helped him understand God's Way even better.
27 Apollos decided to travel through Achaia. So the Lord's followers wrote letters, encouraging the followers there to welcome him. After Apollos arrived in Achaia, he was a great help to everyone who had put their faith in the Lord Jesus because of God's gift of undeserved grace. 28 He got into fierce arguments with the Jewish people, and in public he used the Scriptures to prove that Jesus is the Messiah.
