Pablo en Corinto

1 Después, Pablo se fue de Atenas para la ciudad de Corinto.2 Allí conoció a un judío llamado Aquila, quien había nacido en la región del Ponto, pero que junto con su esposa Priscila, se habían ido a vivir a Corinto hacía poco tiempo. Antes vivían en Italia y se habían ido de allí porque Claudiot había ordenado que todos los judíos tenían que irse de Roma. Pablo fue a verlos,3 porque ellos fabricaban carpas, al igual que él, y por eso se quedó trabajando con ellos.

4 Cada día de descansot, Pablo hablaba en la sinagogat con los judíos y con los griegost para tratar de convencerlos de creer en Jesús.
5 Cuando Silas y Timoteo vinieron de Macedoniat, Pablo estaba dedicado completamente a anunciar el mensajet a los judíos. Les demostraba que Jesús es el Mesíast.

6 Pero los judíos se pusieron en contra de él y lo insultaron. Entonces Pablo se sacudió el polvo de la ropa en señal de protesta y les dijo:
—Si no se salvan no será por culpa mía, yo he hecho todo lo que he podido. De ahora en adelante me dirigiré solamente a los que no son judíos.
7 Pablo salió de la sinagoga y fue a quedarse en la casa de Ticio Justo, quien adoraba al Dios verdadero y vivía al lado de la sinagoga.8 Crispo, el dirigente de la sinagoga, y todos los que vivían en su casa, creían en el Señor Jesús. Mucha gente de Corinto oyó a Pablo, creyó y fue bautizadat.9 Una noche, el Señor le dijo a Pablo en una visión: «No tengas miedo; sigue hablándole a la gente y no te calles,10 porque yo estoy contigo. Nadie podrá atacarte ni hacerte daño porque tengo mucha gente en esta ciudad».

11 Así que Pablo se quedó allí por año y medio, enseñándoles la palabra de Dios.
12 Cuando Galión era gobernador de la región de Acayat, algunos judíos se juntaron contra Pablo y lo llevaron ante el tribunal.

13 Dijeron:
—Este hombre está enseñando a la gente a adorar a Dios de una manera que va en contra de nuestra ley.

14 Pablo estaba listo para decir algo, pero Galión les habló así a los judíos:
—Yo los escucharía a ustedes judíos si se estuvieran quejando por algún delito o algún crimen.

15 Pero lo que ustedes están diciendo no son más que palabras, nombres y asuntos de su propia ley. Así que arréglense entre ustedes, eso no es asunto mío.
16 Y los expulsó del tribunal.

17 Entonces todos agarraron a Sóstenes, el dirigente de la sinagoga, y comenzaron a golpearlo delante del tribunal, pero a Galión no le importó eso.

Pablo regresa a Antioquía

18 Pablo se quedó con los hermanos muchos días más. Luego se fue de allí y se embarcó hacia Siria con Priscila y Aquila. En Cencrea, Pablo se cortó el cabello porque había hecho una promesa a Dios.19 Cuando llegaron a la ciudad de Éfeso, Pablo dejó a Priscila y Aquila, fue a la sinagogat y habló con los judíos.20 Ellos le pidieron a Pablo que se quedara más tiempo, pero él no quiso.

21 Cuando se iba, Pablo les dijo: «Si Dios quiere, volveré a estar con ustedes». Entonces Pablo salió de Éfeso en barco.
22 Pablo desembarcó en Cesarea y se fue a Jerusalén a saludar a la iglesiat. Luego se dirigió a Antioquía y allí

23 se quedó un tiempo. Después recorrió las regiones de Galacia y Frigia, consolidando a todos los nuevos seguidores del Señor.

Apolos en Éfeso y Acaya

24 Un judío de Alejandría llamado Apolos llegó a Éfeso. Tenía buena educación y sabía mucho de las Escriturast.25 Apolos había recibido instrucción en el Camino del Señor, y cada vez que hablaba de Jesús lo hacía con mucho fervor.t Lo que él enseñaba acerca de Jesús era correcto, pero sólo conocía el bautismot de Juan.26 Apolos empezó a hablar libremente en la sinagogat. Cuando Priscila y Aquila lo escucharon, lo llevaron aparte y le explicaron mejor el camino de Dios.27 Apolos quería ir a la región de Acaya y los creyentes lo animaron a hacerlo. Escribieron a los seguidores de allá para que lo recibieran bien. Cuando llegó allí, ayudó mucho a los que habían creído gracias al generoso amort de Dios.

28 Apolos tuvo un debate público con los judíos y los derrotó porque demostró vigorosamente con las Escrituras que Jesús es el Mesíast.

Acts 18

Paul at Corinth

1 After these things he left Athens and went to Corinth.2 And he found a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, having recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome. He came to them,3 and because he was of the same trade, he stayed with them and they were working, for by trade they were tent-makers.4 And he was reasoning in the synagogue every Sabbath and trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.

5 But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul began devoting himself completely to the word, solemnly testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.6 But when they resisted and blasphemed, he shook out his garments and said to them, "Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles."7 Then he left there and went to the house of a man named Titius Justus, a worshiper of God, whose house was next to the synagogue.8 Crispus, the leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his household, and many of the Corinthians when they heard were believing and being baptized.9 And the Lord said to Paul in the night by a vision, "Do not be afraid any longer, but go on speaking and do not be silent;10 for I am with you, and no man will attack you in order to harm you, for I have many people in this city."11 And he settled there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

12 But while Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgment seat,13 saying, "This man persuades men to worship God contrary to the law."14 But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, "If it were a matter of wrong or of vicious crime, O Jews, it would be reasonable for me to put up with you;15 but if there are questions about words and names and your own law, look after it yourselves; I am unwilling to be a judge of these matters."16 And he drove them away from the judgment seat.17 And they all took hold of Sosthenes, the leader of the synagogue, and began beating him in front of the judgment seat. But Gallio was not concerned about any of these things.

18 Paul, having remained many days longer, took leave of the brethren and put out to sea for Syria, and with him were Priscilla and Aquila. In Cenchrea he had his hair cut, for he was keeping a vow.19 They came to Ephesus, and he left them there. Now he himself entered the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.20 When they asked him to stay for a longer time, he did not consent,21 but taking leave of them and saying, "I will return to you again if God wills," he set sail from Ephesus.

22 When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the church, and went down to Antioch.

Third Missionary Journey

23 And having spent some time there, he left and passed successively through the Galatian region and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.

24 Now a Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by birth, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus; and he was mighty in the Scriptures.25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he was speaking and teaching accurately the things concerning Jesus, being acquainted only with the baptism of John;26 and he began to speak out boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.27 And when he wanted to go across to Achaia, the brethren encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to welcome him; and when he had arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace,28 for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, demonstrating by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.
