În Corint

1 După aceea a plecat din Atena și s-a dus în Corint.2  Acolo a întâlnit un iudeu pe nume Aquila, de neam din Pont, care venise de curând din Italia împreună cu soția lui, Priscilat, deoarece Claudiut poruncise ca toți iudeii să plece din Romat. Pavel s-a dus la ei3 și, fiindcă erau de aceeași meserie, a rămas la ei și lucrau împreună. Căci meseria lor era aceea de constructori de corturi.4 În fiecare Sabat, Pavel purta discuții în sinagogă și-i convingea atât pe iudei, cât și pe greci.

5 Dar când Silas și Timotei au sosit din Macedonia, Pavel s-a dedicat în întregime predicării, depunând mărturie înaintea iudeilor că Isus este Cristosul.6 Când i s-au împotrivit și l-au batjocorit, el și-a scuturat praful de pe haine, zicând: „Sângele vostru să fie asupra capului vostru! Eu sunt curat. De acum încolo mă voi duce la neamuri!“7 Și, după ce a ieșit de acolo, a intrat în casa unuia pe nume Titiust Iustus, un om temător de Dumnezeu, a cărui casă era lângă sinagogă.8 Crisp, conducătorul sinagogii, a crezut în Domnul împreună cu toată casa lui și, de asemenea, mulți dintre corintienii care îl auziseră pe Pavel , au crezut și ei și au fost botezați.9 Noaptea, Domnul i-a vorbit lui Pavel într-o viziune: „Nu te teme, ci vorbește și nu tăcea,10 căci Eu sunt cu tine și nimeni nu va pune mâna pe tine ca să-ți facă rău; vorbește , fiindcă am mult popor în această cetate!“11 Prin urmare, Pavel a stat acolo un an și jumătate și i-a învățat Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu.

Pavel înaintea proconsulului Galio

12 În timp ce Galio era proconsult al Ahaiei, iudeii s-au ridicat într-un singur gând împotriva lui Pavel, l-au dus înaintea scaunului de judecată13 și au zis: „Acesta incită oamenii să se închine lui Dumnezeu într-un fel care este împotriva Legiit!“14 Pavel tocmai voia să deschidă gura să vorbească, dar Galio le-a zis iudeilor: „Dacă ar fi vorba de vreun delict sau de vreo ticăloșie gravă, v-aș accepta plângerea, iudeilor;15 dar, întrucât este o dispută cu privire la cuvinte, la nume și la Legea voastră, vă privește! Eu nu vreau să fiu judecător în aceste lucruri!“16 Și i-a alungat de la scaunul de judecată.17 Atunci ei l-au apucat pe Sostenes, conducătorul sinagogii, și l-au bătut chiar în fața scaunului de judecată, fără ca lui Galio să-i pese de aceasta.

Pavel se întoarce în Antiohia

18 Pavel a rămas mai multe zile acolo. Apoi și-a luat rămas bun de la frați și a plecat pe mare spre Siria, împreună cu Priscila și Aquila, după ce și-at tuns capul în Chencreat, căci făcuse un jurământt.19 Au ajuns în Efes, și Pavel i-a lăsat acolo pe însoțitorii lui. El a intrat în sinagogă și a purtat discuții cu iudeii.20 Aceștia l-au rugat să rămână la ei mai mult timp, dar el nu a vrut,21 ci și-a luat rămas bun de la ei, zicând: „(Trebuie neapărat ca sărbătoarea care vine s-o țin în Ierusalim.)t Dacă Dumnezeu vrea, mă voi întoarce din nou la voi!“ Și a plecat din Efes, pe mare.22 S-a dat jos în Cezareea, s-a dus și a salutat biserica din Ierusalim t și apoi a coborât la Antiohia.23 După ce a petrecut un timp acolo , a plecat străbătând din loc în loc ținutul Galatiei și al Frigiei și întărindu-i pe toți ucenicii.

Apolo

24 Un iudeu pe nume Apolos, de neam din Alexandria, care era un vorbitor elocventt și un bun cunoscător al Scripturii, a venit în Efes.25 El era instruit în ce privește Calea Domnului, vorbea cu un duh înfocat și dădea învățătură cu acuratețe despre lucrurile privitoare la Isus, deși cunoștea numai botezul lui Ioan.26 A început să vorbească cu îndrăzneală în sinagogă, iar când Priscila și Aquila l-au auzit, l-au luat acasă și i-au explicat și mai amănunțit Calea lui Dumnezeu.27 Pentru că el voia să treacă în Ahaiat, frații l-au încurajat și au scris ucenicilor să-l primească bine. Când a ajuns, el le-a fost de mare ajutor celor ce, prin har, deveniseră credincioși.28 Căci el îi înfrunta pe iudei în public, dovedind pe baza Scripturilor că Isus este Cristosul.

ACTS 18

Paul in Corinth

1 Paul left Athens and went to Corinth, 2 where he met Aquila, a Jewish man from Pontus. Not long before this, Aquila had come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Emperor Claudius had ordered the Jewish people to leave Rome.t Paul went to see Aquila and Priscilla

3 and found out they were tent makers. Paul was also a tent maker, so he stayed with them, and they worked together.
4 Every Sabbath, Paul went to the synagogue. He spoke to Jews and Gentilest and tried to win them over. 5 But after Silas and Timothy came from Macedonia, he spent all his time preaching to the Jews about Jesus the Messiah.

6 Finally, they turned against him and insulted him. So he shook the dust from his clothest and told them, “Whatever happens to you will be your own fault! I am not to blame. From now on I am going to preach to the Gentiles.”
7 Paul then moved into the house of a man named Titius Justus, who worshiped God and lived next door to the synagogue.

8 Crispus was the leader of the synagogue. He and everyone in his family put their faith in the Lord. Many others in Corinth also heard the message, and all the people who had faith in the Lord were baptized.
9 One night, Paul had a vision, and in it the Lord said, “Don't be afraid to keep on preaching. Don't stop! 10 I am with you, and you won't be harmed. Many people in this city belong to me.”

11 Paul stayed on in Corinth for a year and a half, teaching God's message to the people.
12 While Gallio was governor of Achaia, some of the Jewish leaders got together and grabbed Paul. They brought him into court

13 and said, “This man is trying to make our people worship God in a way that is against our Law!”
14 Even before Paul could speak, Gallio said, “If you were charging this man with a crime or some other wrong, I would have to listen to you. 15 But since this concerns only words, names, and your own law, you will have to take care of it yourselves. I refuse to judge such matters.” 16 Then he sent them out of the court.

17 The crowd grabbed Sosthenes, the Jewish leader, and beat him up in front of the court. But none of this mattered to Gallio.

Paul Returns to //Antioch in Syria

18  t After Paul had stayed for a while with the Lord's followers in Corinth, he told them goodbye and sailed on to Syria with Aquila and Priscilla. But before he left, he had his head shavedt at Cenchreae because he had made a promise to God.
19 The three of them arrived in Ephesus, where Paul left Priscilla and Aquila. He then went into the synagogue to talk with the people there. 20 They asked him to stay longer, but he refused.

21 He told them goodbye and said, “If God lets me, I will come back.”
22 Paul sailed to Caesarea, where he greeted the church. Then he went on to Antioch.

23 After staying there for a while, he left and visited several places in Galatia and Phrygia. He helped the followers there to become stronger in their faith.

Apollos in Ephesus

25 He also knew much about the Lord's Way, t and he spoke about it with great excitement. What he taught about Jesus was right, but all he knew was John's message about baptism.

26 Apollos started speaking bravely in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him to their home and helped him understand God's Way even better.
27 Apollos decided to travel through Achaia. So the Lord's followers wrote letters, encouraging the followers there to welcome him. After Apollos arrived in Achaia, he was a great help to everyone who had put their faith in the Lord Jesus because of God's gift of undeserved grace. 28 He got into fierce arguments with the Jewish people, and in public he used the Scriptures to prove that Jesus is the Messiah.
