二

1 さて、イエスの死と復活から、七週間が過ぎました。　五旬節（ユダヤ教の祭りの一つ）の日です。　信者たちが一堂に集まっていると、　2 突然、天からものすごい音がしました。　まるで、激しい風が吹きつけるような音です。　それが、家全体にごうごうと響き渡ったのです。　3 そして、めらめら燃える炎の舌のようなものが現われ、みんなの頭上にとどまりました。　4 するとどうでしょう。　その場にいた人は、一人残らず聖霊に満たされ、知りもしない外国語で話し始めたではありませんか。　聖霊が、それだけの力を与えてくださったのです。
5 その日、エルサレムには、たくさんの敬虔なユダヤ人が、祭りのために、世界のあちこちから集まっていました。　6 この大音響に、人々は、いったい何事かと駆けつけましたが、弟子たちの話していることばを聞いて、すっかり面食らってしまいました。　まぎれもなく自分たちの国のことばだったからです。
7 さっぱり訳がわかりません。　ただ口々に、こう言い合うばかりでした。　「こ、こんなことって、あるかい。　みんな、ガリラヤ出身の人だというのに......。　8 それが、私たちの国のことばで、すらすら話している。　9 ここには、パルテヤ人、メジヤ人、エラム人、またメソポタミヤ、ユダヤ、カパドキヤ、ポント、アジヤ、　10 フルギヤ、パンフリヤ、エジプト、それにリビヤのクレネ語が使われている地方などから来た人たちがいるし、ほかにも、ローマからの旅行者で、もともとのユダヤ人もいれば、ユダヤ教への改宗者もいるといったぐあいに様々だ。　11 あっ、そうそう、クレテ人やアラビヤ人もいたっけ。　それがどうだ。　それぞれの生まれ故郷のことばで、神様のすばらしい奇蹟の話を聞くとはなあ......。」
12 人々はただ呆然として、「いったい、どうなってるんだ？」と顔を見合わせました。
13 しかし、中には、「なに、あいつら、酔っぱらってるだけさ」と、あざける連中もいました。
14 するとペテロが、十一人の使徒と共につかつかと進み出て、声を張り上げ、人々に語りかけました。
「よそから来られた方も、エルサレムに住んでおられる皆さんも、どうぞお聞きください。　15 皆さんの中には、私たちが酒に酔っているのだとおっしゃる方もいますが、そんなことは絶対にありません。　酒に酔うには時間が早すぎます。　朝の九時から酒を飲む人はいないでしょう。　16 いま見ていることは、まさに、何世紀も前に、預言者ヨエルが預言したことなのです。
17 『神は言われる。
終わりの日に、
わたしはすべての人にわたしの霊を注ぐ。
その時、あなたがたの息子、娘は預言し、
青年は幻を見、
老人は夢を見る。
18 聖霊は、男女を問わず、わたしに仕える者たちに
注がれる。
すると、彼らは預言をする。
19 また、わたしは天と地に不思議なしるしを現わす。
血と火と煙の雲だ。
20 主の恐るべき日が来る前に、
太陽は暗くなり、月は血のように赤くなる。
21 しかし、主にあわれみを求める者はみな、
あわれみを受けて救われる。』
22 ああ、皆さん。　これから申し上げることを聞いてください。　よくご存じのように、ナザレのイエスは、大ぜいの人の前で、すばらしい奇蹟を行なわれました。　神様は、こうして、だれにもはっきりわかるように、イエス様の身元を保証なさったのです。　23 神様は、あらかじめ計画したとおり、この方を、あなたがたの手でローマ政府に引き渡し、十字架で処刑することをお許しになりました。　24 そうした上で、この方を死の恐怖から解放し、復活させたのです。　この方が、ずっと死んだままでいることなど、ありえないことだったからです。
25 ダビデ王は、イエス様のことをこう言っています。
『主はいつも私と共におられる。
主が私を助け、
神の大きな力が私を支える。
26 だから、心は喜びにあふれ、
舌は主をほめたたえる。
たとい死んでも、私には望みがある。
27 あなたは、私のたましいを地獄に放置せず、
あなたの聖なる息子の体を、
朽ち果てさせることもない。
28 私を生き返らせ、
あなたの前で、すばらしい喜びにあふれさせる。』
29 愛する皆さん。　考えてもみなさい。　ダビデはここで、自分のことを語っているわけではありません。　そうでしょう。　ダビデは死んで、葬られ、その墓は今でも、ちゃんと残っているではありませんか。　30 しかし、彼は預言者でしたから、子孫の一人がメシヤ（救い主）となり、ダビデの王座につくと神が誓われたことは、知っていたのです。　31 それで、遠い将来を望み見ながら、メシヤの復活を預言しました。　メシヤのたましいは地獄に放置されず、その体が朽ち果てることもない、と語ったのです。　32 そのとおり、神様はイエス様を復活させました。　私たちはみな、そのことの証人です。
33 今イエス様は、天で最も名誉ある神の右の座についておられます。　そして、約束どおり、父は聖霊様を送ってくださいました。　その結果、たったいま見聞きしたことが起こったのです。
34-35 いいですね。　ダビデは、決して自分のことを言ったのではありません。　ダビデは天にのぼったことはないからです。　それに、当のダビデが、こうも言っています。
『神は私の主に言われた。
「わたしがあなたの敵を
完全に征服するまで、
わたしの右に座っていなさい。」』
36 ですから、イスラエルのすべての人に、はっきり言っておきます。　神様は、あなたがたが十字架につけたイエス様を主とし、キリスト（救い主）とされたのです。」
37 ペテロのことばは、人々の心を強く打ちました。「それじゃあ、私たちはどうすればいいんでしょう。」　あちらからもこちらからも、使徒たちへの質問の声があがりました。
38 ペテロは答えました。　「一人一人が、罪の生活から足を洗って神様に立ち返りなさい。　そして、罪を赦していただくために、イエス・キリストの名によってバプテスマ（洗礼）を受けなさい。　そうすれば、聖霊様という贈り物をいただけます。　39 それは、キリスト様が約束してくださったのです。　あなたがたは言うまでもなく、あなたがたの子孫、また遠くにいても、私たちの神である主が、ちゃんとお招きになったすべての人にも、与えられるのです。」
40 このあとも、ペテロの説教はえんえんと続きました。　イエスのことや、悪に満ちたこの時代から救われなければならないことを、ことばを尽くして訴えたのです。　41 この日、ペテロの言うことを信じた人はバプテスマを受けましたが、その数は全部で三千人ぐらいでした。　42 みな、使徒たちの教えをよく守り、聖餐式（キリスト教の儀式の一つ）や祈り会に毎回きちんと出席していました。　43 だれもが、心から神様を恐れ敬うようになり、一方、使徒たちは次々と奇蹟を行ないました。
44 信者たちはみないっしょにいて、それぞれの持ち物を分け合い、　45 金が必要な人には、財産を売り払って与えました。　46 毎日、神殿できちんと礼拝をし、聖餐の時は、小人数に分かれてめいめいの家に集まり、心から喜びと感謝にあふれて、食べ物を分け合いました。　47 心から神を賛美する彼らに、町中の人は少なからず好感をいだき、神もまた、救われる者を毎日、仲間に加えてくださいました。美しの門で

1 And when the day of Pentecost was now come, they were all together in one place.2 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.3 And there appeared unto them tongues parting asunder, like as of fire; and it sat upon each one of them.4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.5 Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven.6 And when this sound was heard, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speaking in his own language.7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying, Behold, are not all these that speak Galilaeans?8 And how hear we, every man in our own language wherein we were born?9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, in Judaea and Cappadocia, in Pontus and Asia,10 in Phrygia and Pamphylia, in Egypt and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and sojourners from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,11 Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking in our tongues the mighty works of God.12 And they were all amazed, and were perplexed, saying one to another, What meaneth this?13 But others mocking said, They are filled with new wine.14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spake forth unto them, saying, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and give ear unto my words.15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose; seeing it is but the third hour of the day.16 but this is that which hath been spoken through the prophet Joel:

17 And it shall be in the last days, saith God, I will pour forth of my Spirit upon all flesh: And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions, And your old men shall dream dreams:

18 Yea and on my servants and on my handmaidens in those days Will I pour forth of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in the heaven above, And signs on the earth beneath; Blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke:

20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the day of the Lord come, That great and notable day.

21 And it shall be, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God unto you by mighty works and wonders and signs which God did by him in the midst of you, even as ye yourselves know;23 him, being delivered up by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye by the hand of lawless men did crucify and slay:24 whom God raised up, having loosed the pangs of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.25 For David saith concerning him, I beheld the Lord always before my face; For he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:

26 Therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced; Moreover my flesh also shall dwell in hope:

27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul unto Hades, Neither wilt thou give thy Holy One to see corruption.

28 Thou madest known unto me the ways of life; Thou shalt make me full of gladness with thy countenance.

29 Brethren, I may say unto you freely of the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us unto this day.30 Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins he would set one upon his throne;31 he foreseeing this spake of the resurrection of the Christ, that neither was he left unto Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.32 This Jesus did God raise up, whereof we all are witnesses.33 Being therefore by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he hath poured forth this, which ye see and hear.34 For David ascended not into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

35 Till I make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet.

36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly, that God hath made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom ye crucified.37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and the rest of the apostles, Brethren, what shall we do?38 And Peter said unto them, Repent ye, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.39 For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call unto him.40 And with many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, Save yourselves from this crooked generation.41 They then that received his word were baptized: and there were added unto them in that day about three thousand souls.42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and the prayers.43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;45 and they sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all, according as any man had need.46 And day by day, continuing stedfastly with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread at home, they took their food with gladness and singleness of heart,47 praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to them day by day those that were saved.
