نزول روح‌القدس در پِنتیکاست

1 چون روز پِنتیکاست فرارسید، همه یکدل در یکجا جمع بودند2 که ناگاه صدایی همچون صدای وزش تندبادی از آسمان آمد و خانه‌ای را که در آن نشسته بودند، به تمامی پر کرد.3 آنگاه، زبانه‌هایی دیدند همچون زبانه‌های آتش که تقسیم شد و بر هر یک از ایشان قرار گرفت.4 سپس همه از روح‌القدس پُر گشتند و آن‌گونه که روح بدیشان قدرت تکلّم می‌بخشید، به زبانهای دیگر سخن گفتن آغاز کردند.5 در آن روزها، یهودیانِ خداترس، از همۀ ممالک زیر آسمان، در اورشلیم به‌سر می‌بردند.6 چون این صدا برخاست، جماعتی گرد ‌آمده، غرق شگفتی شدند، زیرا هر یک از ایشان می‌شنید که آنان به زبان خودش سخن می‌گویند.7 پس حیران و بهت‌زده، گفتند: «مگر اینها که سخن می‌گویند جملگی اهل جلیل نیستند؟8 پس چگونه هر یک می‌شنویم که به زبان زادگاه ما سخن می‌گویند؟9 پارتها و مادها و ایلامیان، مردمان بین‌النهرین و یهودیه و کاپادوکیه و پونتوس و آسیا10 و فْریجیه و پامفیلیه و مصر و نواحی لیبی متصل به قیرَوان و نیز زائران رومی11 (چه یهودی و چه یهودی شده)؛ و همچنین مردمان کْرِت و عربستان - همه می‌شنویم که اینان به زبان ما مدح اعمال عظیم خدا را می‌گویند.»12 پس همگی متحیر و سرگشته از یکدیگر می‌پرسیدند: «معنی این رویداد چیست؟»13 امّا برخی نیز ریشخندکنان می‌گفتند: «اینان مست شرابند!»

پیام پِطرُس

14 آنگاه پِطرُس با آن یازده تن برخاست و صدای خود را بلند کرده، خطاب بدیشان گفت: «ای یهودیان و ای ساکنان اورشلیم، این را دریابید و به آنچه می‌گویم به‌دقّت گوش فرادهید!15 این مردان، برخلاف آنچه شما پنداشته‌اید مست نیستند، زیرا هنوز ساعت سوّم از روزt است!16 بلکه این همان است که یوئیل نبی درباره‌اش چنین پیشگویی کرده بود:17 «‌”خدا می‌فرماید:
در روزهای آخر از روح خود بر تمامی بشر فرو‌خواهم ریخت.
پسران و دختران شما نبوّت خواهند کرد،
جوانانتان رؤیاها خواهند دید
و پیرانتان خوابها.18 و نیز در آن روزها،
حتی بر غلامان و کنیزانم،
از روح خود فرو‌خواهم ریخت
و آنان نبوّت خواهند کرد.19 بالا، در آسمان، عجایب،
و پایین، بر زمین، آیاتی از خون و آتش و بخار به‌ظهور خواهم آورد.20 پیش از فرارسیدن روز عظیم و پرشکوه خداوند
خورشید به تاریکی و ماه
به خون بدل خواهد شد.21 آنگاه هر که نام خداوند را بخواند، نجات خواهد یافت.“22 «ای قوم اسرائیل، این را بشنوید: چنان که خود آگاهید، عیسای ناصری مردی بود که خدا با معجزات و عجایب و آیاتی که به‌دست او در میان شما ظاهر ساخت، بر حقانیتش گواهی داد.23 آن مرد بنا‌بر مشیّت و پیشدانی خدا به شما تسلیم کرده شد و شما به‌دست بی‌دینان بر صلیبش کشیده، کشتید.24 ولی خدا او را از دردهای مرگ رهانیده، برخیزانید، زیرا محال بود مرگ بتواند او را در چنگال خود نگاه دارد.25 چنان که داوود دربارۀ او می‌فرماید:
«‌”خداوند را همواره پیش روی خود دیده‌ام،
چه او بر دست راست من است تا متزلزل نشوم.26 از این‌رو دلم شاد است و زبانم در وجد،
و بدنم نیز در امید ساکن خواهد بود.27 چرا که جانم را در جهانِ مردگان رها نخواهی کرد
و نخواهی گذاشت قدّوست فساد ببیند.28 تو راههای حیات را به من نموده‌ای،
و با حضور خود مرا از شادی لبریز خواهی کرد.“29 «ای برادران، می‌توانم با اطمینان به شما بگویم که داوودِ پاتْریارْکt وفات یافت و دفن شد و مقبره‌اش نیز تا به امروز نزد ما باقی است.30 امّا او نبی بود و می‌دانست خدا برایش سوگند خورده است که کسی را از نسل او بر تخت سلطنت وی خواهد نشانید.31 پس آینده را پیشاپیش دیده، دربارۀ رستاخیز مسیح گفت که جان او در جهانِ مردگان رها نگردد و بدنش نیز فساد نبیند.32 خدا همین عیسی را برخیزانید و ما همگی شاهد بر آنیم.33 او به دست راست خدا بالا برده شد و از پدر، روح‌القدسِ موعود را دریافت کرده، این را که اکنون می‌بینید و می‌شنوید، فرو‌ریخته است.34 زیرا داوود خود به آسمان صعود نکرد، و با این همه گفت:
«‌”خداوند به خداوند من گفت:
«به‌دست راست من بنشین35 تا آن هنگام که دشمنانت را کرسی زیر پایت سازم.»“36 «پس قوم اسرائیل، جملگی به‌یقین بدانند که خدا این عیسی را که شما بر صلیب کشیدید، خداوند و مسیحt ساخته است.»37 چون این را شنیدند، دلریش گشته، به پِطرُس و سایر رسولان گفتند: «ای برادران، چه کنیم؟»38 پِطرُس بدیشان گفت: «توبه کنید و هر یک از شما به نام عیسی مسیح برای آمرزش گناهان خود تعمید گیرید که عطای روح‌القدس را خواهید یافت.39 زیرا این وعده برای شما و فرزندانتان و همۀ کسانی است که دورند، یعنی هر که خداوندْ خدای ما او را فراخوانَد.»40 پِطرُس با سخنان بسیار دیگر شهادت داد و ترغیبشان کرده، گفت: «خود را از این نسل منحرف برهانید!»41 پس پیام او را پذیرفتند و تعمید گرفتند. در همان روز حدود سه هزار تن بدیشان پیوستند.

زندگی مشترک ایمانداران

42 آنان خود را وقف تعلیم یافتن از رسولان و رفاقتt و پاره کردن نان و دعا کردند.43 امّا بهت و حیرت بر همه مستولی شده بود، و عجایب و آیات بسیار به‌دست رسولان به‌ظهور می‌رسید.44 مؤمنان همه با هم به‌سر می‌بردند و در همه چیز شریک بودند.45 املاک و اموال خود را می‌فروختند و بهای آن را بر حسب نیاز هر کس بین همه تقسیم می‌کردند.46 ایشان هر روز، یکدل در معبد گرد می‌آمدند و در خانه‌های خود نیز نان را پاره می‌کردند و با خوشی و صفای دل با هم خوراک می‌خوردند47 و خدا را حمد می‌گفتند. تمامی خلقْ ایشان را عزیز می‌داشتند؛ و خداوند هر روزه نجات‌یافتگان را به جمعشان می‌افزود.

ACTS 2

The Coming of the Holy Spirit

1  t On the day of Pentecostt all the Lord's followers were together in one place. 2 Suddenly there was a noise from heaven like the sound of a mighty wind! It filled the house where they were meeting. 3 Then they saw what looked like fiery tongues moving in all directions, and a tongue came and settled on each person there.

4 The Holy Spirit took control of everyone, and they began speaking whatever languages the Spirit let them speak.
5 Many religious Jews from every country in the world were living in Jerusalem. 6 And when they heard this noise, a crowd gathered. But they were surprised, because they were hearing everything in their own languages.

7 They were excited and amazed, and said:
Don't all these who are speaking come from Galilee? 8 Then why do we hear them speaking our very own languages? 9 Some of us are from Parthia, Media, and Elam. Others are from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, 10 Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, parts of Libya near Cyrene, Rome,

11 Crete, and Arabia. Some of us were born Jews, and others of us have chosen to be Jews. Yet we all hear them using our own languages to tell the wonderful things God has done.

12 Everyone was excited and confused. Some of them even kept asking each other, “What does all this mean?”

13 Others made fun of the Lord's followers and said, “They are drunk.”

Peter Speaks to the Crowd

14 Peter stood with the eleven apostles and spoke in a loud and clear voice to the crowd:
Friends and everyone else living in Jerusalem, listen carefully to what I have to say! 15 You are wrong to think that these people are drunk. After all, it is only nine o'clock in the morning.

16 But this is what God told the prophet Joel to say,

17  t “When the last days come,
I will give my Spirit
to everyone.
Your sons and daughters
will prophesy.
Your young men
will see visions,
and your old men
will have dreams.

18 In those days I will give
my Spirit to my servants,
both men and women,
and they will prophesy.

19 I will work miracles
in the sky above
and wonders
on the earth below.
There will be blood and fire
and clouds of smoke.

20 The sun will turn dark,
and the moon
will be as red as blood
before the great
and wonderful day
of the Lord appears.

21 Then the Lord
will save everyone
who asks for his help.”
22 Now, listen to what I have to say about Jesus from Nazareth. God proved he sent Jesus to you by having him work miracles, wonders, and signs. All of you know this. 23 t God had already planned and decided that Jesus would be handed over to you. So you took him and had evil men put him to death on a cross. 24 t But God set him free from death and raised him to life. Death could not hold him in its power.

25 t What David said are really the words of Jesus,
“I always see the Lord
near me,
and I will not be afraid
with him at my right side.

26 Because of this,
my heart will be glad,
my words will be joyful,
and I will live in hope.

27 The Lord won't leave me
in the grave.
I am his holy one,
and he won't let
my body decay.

28 He has shown me
the path to life,
and he makes me glad
by being near me.”
29 My friends, it is right for me to speak to you about our ancestor David. He died and was buried, and his tomb is still here.

30 t But David was a prophet, and he knew that God had made a promise he would not break. He had told David someone from his own family would someday be king.
31 David knew this would happen, and so he told us Christ would be raised to life. He said God would not leave him in the grave or let his body decay.

32 All of us can tell you that God has raised Jesus to life!

33 Jesus was taken up to sit at the right sidet of God, and he was given the Holy Spirit, just as the Father had promised. Jesus is also the one who has given the Spirit to us, and this is what you are now seeing and hearing.
34  t David didn't go up to heaven. So he wasn't talking about himself when he said, “The Lord told my Lord to sit at his right side, 35 until he made my Lord's enemies into a footstool for him.”

36 Everyone in Israel should then know for certain that God has made Jesus both Lord and Christ, even though you put him to death on a cross.

37 When the people heard this, they were very upset. They asked Peter and the other apostles, “Friends, what should we do?”
38 Peter said to them, “Turn to God and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

39 This promise is for you and your children. It is for everyone our Lord God will choose, no matter where they live.”
40 Peter told them many other things as well. Then he said, “I beg you to save yourselves from what will happen to all these evil people.” 41 On that day about 3,000 believed his message and were baptized.

42 They spent their time learning from the apostles, and they were like family to each other. They also broke breadt and prayed together.
