Coborârea Duhului Sfânt

1 Când a sosit ziua Cincizecimiit, erau cu toții la un loc.2 Deodată a venit din cer un sunet ca vâjâitul unui vânt puternict și a umplut toată casa în care ședeau ei.3 Li s-au arătat niște limbi ca de foct, care s-au împrăștiat și s-au așezat câte una pe fiecare dintre ei.4 Toți au fost umpluți de Duhul Sfânt și au început să vorbească în alte limbi, după cum le dădea Duhul să vorbească.

5 Și se aflau atunci în Ierusalim iudei, oameni evlavioși din fiecare neam de sub cer.6 Când s-a auzit sunetul acela, mulțimea s-a adunat și a rămas uluită, pentru că fiecare îi auzea vorbind în propria lui limbă.7  Toți se mirau și se minunau zicând: „Oare nu sunt galileeni toți aceștia care vorbesc?!8 Cum de îi auzim, fiecare dintre noi, vorbind în propria noastră limbă, în care ne-am născut?!9 Parți, mezi, elamiți, locuitori din Mesopotamia, din Iudeea, din Capadocia, din Pont, din Asiat,10 din Frigia, din Pamfilia, din Egipt, de prin părțile Libiei dinspre Cirenat, vizitatori din Roma,11 iudei și prozeliți, cretani și arabi, pe toți îi auzim vorbind în limbile noastre despre lucrările mărețe ale lui Dumnezeu!“12 Toți erau uimiți și nedumeriți și se întrebau unul pe altul: „Ce vrea să însemne aceasta?“13 Alții însă își băteau joc și ziceau: „Sunt plini de must!“

Petru vorbește mulțimii în ziua Cincizecimii

14 Dar Petru s-a sculat în picioare împreună cu cei unsprezece, și-a ridicat glasul și le-a vorbit astfel:
– Bărbați iudei și voi, toți locuitorii Ierusalimului, să vă fie cunoscut lucrul acesta și să ascultați cuvintele mele!15 Oamenii aceștia nu sunt beți, așa cum presupuneți voi, pentru că nu este decât ceasul al treilea din zit,16 ci aceasta este ceea ce a fost spus prin profetul Ioel:

17 „În zilele de pe urmă, zice Dumnezeu,
voi turna din Duhul Meu peste orice făptură.
Fiii și fiicele voastre vor profeți,
tinerii voștri vor vedea viziuni,
iar bătrânii voștri vor visa visuri!

18 Chiar și peste slujitorii Mei și slujitoarele Mele
voi turna din Duhul Meu în acele zile
și vor profeți.

19 Voi face minuni sus în cer
și semne jos pe pământ,
sânge, foc și coloane de fum.

20 Soarele se va preface în întuneric,
iar luna în sânge,
înainte să vină ziua cea mare și glorioasă a Domnului.

21 Atunci oricine va chema Numele Domnului
va fi mântuit!“t

22 Bărbați israeliți, ascultați cuvintele acestea: pe Isus din Nazaret, bărbat adeverit de Dumnezeu înaintea voastră prin faptele puternice, minunile și semnele pe care Dumnezeu le-a făcut prin El în mijlocul vostru, după cum voi înșivă știți,23 pe Omul Acesta, dat pe mâna voastră după planul hotărât și după preștiința lui Dumnezeu, voi L-ați răstignit și L-ați omorât prin mâna celor fără de leget!24 Dumnezeu însă L-a înviat, dezlegându-L de durerilet morții, pentru că nu era posibil să fie ținut de ea.

25 Căci David zice despre El:
„Îl văd pe Domnul neîncetat înaintea mea,
căci El este la dreapta mea ca să nu mă clatin!

26 De aceea, mi se bucură inima și mi se înveselește limbat!
Mai mult, trupul meu va locui în nădejde,

27 căci nu-mi vei lăsa sufletul în Locuința Morțilort
și nu vei îngădui ca Sfântul Tău să vadă putrezirea.

28 Mi-ai făcut cunoscute cărările vieții …
mă vei umple de bucurie cu prezența Ta!“t

29 Bărbați, fraților, cât despre patriarhul David, dați-mi voie să vă spun deschis că el a murit și a fost îngropat, iar mormântul lui a rămas în mijlocul nostru până în ziua aceasta.30 Așadar, el era profet și știa că Dumnezeu îi promisese prin jurământ că va pune pe tronul lui pe unul din urmașii lui.t31 Știind deci mai dinainte, el vorbea despre învierea lui Cristos, atunci când spunea că nu va fi lăsat în Locuința Morților și că trupul Lui nu va vedea putrezirea.

32 Dumnezeu L-a înviat pe acest Isus, și noi toți suntem martorii acestui fapt.33 Așadar, fiind înălțat la dreapta lui Dumnezeu și primind de la Tatăl promisiunea Duhului Sfânt, El a turnat ceea ce vedeți și auziți.

34 Căci David nu s-a suit în ceruri, ci el însuși zice:
„Domnul I-a zis Domnului meut:
«Șezi la dreapta Mea,

35 până voi face din dușmanii Tăi
așternut al picioarelor Tale!»“t

36 Să știe bine deci toată casa lui Israel, că Dumnezeu L-a făcut Domn și Cristost pe acest Isus pe Care L-ați răstignit voi!

37 Când au auzit aceste lucruri, ei au rămas străpunși în inimă și i-au întrebat pe Petru și pe ceilalți apostoli:
– Fraților, ce să facem?

38 Petru le-a răspuns:
– Pocăiți-vă și fiecare din voi să fie botezat în Numele lui Isus Cristost spre iertarea păcatelor voastre; și veți primi darul Duhului Sfânt!39 Căci promisiunea este pentru voi, pentru copiii voștri și pentru toți cei ce sunt departe, în oricât de mare număr îi va chema Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru!

40 Și cu multe alte cuvinte el mărturisea și îi îndemna zicând:
– Mântuiți-vă din mijlocul acestei generații corupte!

41 Cei ce au primit cuvântul lui au fost botezați; și în ziua aceea, la numărul ucenicilor au fost adăugate cam trei mii de suflete.

Părtășia credincioșilor

42 Ei stăruiau în învățătura apostolilor, în părtășie, în frângerea pâinii și în rugăciuni.43 Fiecare era plin de frică, și prin apostoli se făceau multe minuni și semne.44 Toți credincioșii erau la un loc și aveau toate în comun;45 își vindeau proprietățile și averile, iar banii îi împărțeau între ei, după cum avea nevoie fiecare.46 În fiecare zi continuau să se întâlnească în același gând în Templu, frângeau pâinea acasă, luau parte la masă cu bucurie și simplitate a inimii,47 Îl lăudau pe Dumnezeu și aveau parte de bunăvoință din partea întregului popor. Și Domnul adăuga în fiecare zi la numărul lor pe cei ce erau mântuiți.

ACTS 2

The Coming of the Holy Spirit

1  t On the day of Pentecostt all the Lord's followers were together in one place. 2 Suddenly there was a noise from heaven like the sound of a mighty wind! It filled the house where they were meeting. 3 Then they saw what looked like fiery tongues moving in all directions, and a tongue came and settled on each person there.

4 The Holy Spirit took control of everyone, and they began speaking whatever languages the Spirit let them speak.
5 Many religious Jews from every country in the world were living in Jerusalem. 6 And when they heard this noise, a crowd gathered. But they were surprised, because they were hearing everything in their own languages.

7 They were excited and amazed, and said:
Don't all these who are speaking come from Galilee? 8 Then why do we hear them speaking our very own languages? 9 Some of us are from Parthia, Media, and Elam. Others are from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, 10 Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, parts of Libya near Cyrene, Rome,

11 Crete, and Arabia. Some of us were born Jews, and others of us have chosen to be Jews. Yet we all hear them using our own languages to tell the wonderful things God has done.

12 Everyone was excited and confused. Some of them even kept asking each other, “What does all this mean?”

13 Others made fun of the Lord's followers and said, “They are drunk.”

Peter Speaks to the Crowd

14 Peter stood with the eleven apostles and spoke in a loud and clear voice to the crowd:
Friends and everyone else living in Jerusalem, listen carefully to what I have to say! 15 You are wrong to think that these people are drunk. After all, it is only nine o'clock in the morning.

16 But this is what God told the prophet Joel to say,

17  t “When the last days come,
I will give my Spirit
to everyone.
Your sons and daughters
will prophesy.
Your young men
will see visions,
and your old men
will have dreams.

18 In those days I will give
my Spirit to my servants,
both men and women,
and they will prophesy.

19 I will work miracles
in the sky above
and wonders
on the earth below.
There will be blood and fire
and clouds of smoke.

20 The sun will turn dark,
and the moon
will be as red as blood
before the great
and wonderful day
of the Lord appears.

21 Then the Lord
will save everyone
who asks for his help.”
22 Now, listen to what I have to say about Jesus from Nazareth. God proved he sent Jesus to you by having him work miracles, wonders, and signs. All of you know this. 23 t God had already planned and decided that Jesus would be handed over to you. So you took him and had evil men put him to death on a cross. 24 t But God set him free from death and raised him to life. Death could not hold him in its power.

25 t What David said are really the words of Jesus,
“I always see the Lord
near me,
and I will not be afraid
with him at my right side.

26 Because of this,
my heart will be glad,
my words will be joyful,
and I will live in hope.

27 The Lord won't leave me
in the grave.
I am his holy one,
and he won't let
my body decay.

28 He has shown me
the path to life,
and he makes me glad
by being near me.”
29 My friends, it is right for me to speak to you about our ancestor David. He died and was buried, and his tomb is still here.

30 t But David was a prophet, and he knew that God had made a promise he would not break. He had told David someone from his own family would someday be king.
31 David knew this would happen, and so he told us Christ would be raised to life. He said God would not leave him in the grave or let his body decay.

32 All of us can tell you that God has raised Jesus to life!

33 Jesus was taken up to sit at the right sidet of God, and he was given the Holy Spirit, just as the Father had promised. Jesus is also the one who has given the Spirit to us, and this is what you are now seeing and hearing.
34  t David didn't go up to heaven. So he wasn't talking about himself when he said, “The Lord told my Lord to sit at his right side, 35 until he made my Lord's enemies into a footstool for him.”

36 Everyone in Israel should then know for certain that God has made Jesus both Lord and Christ, even though you put him to death on a cross.

37 When the people heard this, they were very upset. They asked Peter and the other apostles, “Friends, what should we do?”
38 Peter said to them, “Turn to God and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

39 This promise is for you and your children. It is for everyone our Lord God will choose, no matter where they live.”
40 Peter told them many other things as well. Then he said, “I beg you to save yourselves from what will happen to all these evil people.” 41 On that day about 3,000 believed his message and were baptized.

42 They spent their time learning from the apostles, and they were like family to each other. They also broke breadt and prayed together.
