HECHOS 2

Jesús cumple su promesa

1 El día de la fiesta de Pentecostés, t los seguidores de Jesús estaban reunidos en un mismo lugar.2 De pronto, oyeron un ruido muy fuerte que venía del cielo. Parecía el estruendo de una tormenta, y retumbó por todo el salón.3 Luego vieron que algo parecido a llamas de fuego se colocaba sobre cada uno de ellos.

4 Fue así como el Espíritu Santo los llenó de poder a todos ellos, y enseguida empezaron a hablar en otros idiomas. Cada uno hablaba según lo que el Espíritu Santo le indicaba.
5 En aquel tiempo, muchos judíos que amaban a Dios estaban de visita en Jerusalén. Habían llegado de todas las regiones del Imperio Romano.6 Al oír el ruido, muchos de ellos se acercaron al salón, y se sorprendieron de que podían entender lo que decían los seguidores de Jesús.

7 Estaban tan admirados que se decían unos a otros:

«Pero estos que están hablando, ¿acaso no son de la región de Galilea?8 ¿Cómo es que los oímos hablar en nuestro propio idioma?9 Los que estamos aquí somos de diferentes países. Algunos somos de Partia, Media y Elam. Otros vinimos de Mesopotamia, Judea, Capadocia, Ponto, Asia,10 Frigia, Panfilia y Egipto, y de las regiones de Libia cercanas al pueblo de Cirene. Muchos han venido de Roma, otros han viajado desde la isla de Creta y desde la península de Arabia.

11-12 Algunos somos judíos de nacimiento, y otros nos hemos convertido a la religión judía. ¡Es increíble que los oigamos hablar, en nuestro propio idioma, de las maravillas de Dios!»

Y no salían de su asombro, ni dejaban de preguntarse: «¿Y esto qué significa?»
13 Pero algunos comenzaron a burlarse de los apóstoles, y los acusaban de estar borrachos.

14 Pero los apóstoles se pusieron de pie, y con fuerte voz Pedro dijo:

«Israelitas y habitantes de Jerusalén, escuchen bien lo que les voy a decir.15 Se equivocan si creen que estamos borrachos. ¡Apenas son las nueve de la mañana!

16 Lo que pasa es que hoy Dios ha cumplido lo que nos prometió, cuando por medio del profeta Joel dijo:

17 “En los últimos tiempos
les daré a todos de mi Espíritu:
hombres y mujeres hablarán de parte mía;
a los jóvenes les hablaré en visiones
y a los ancianos, en sueños.

18 ”También en esos tiempos
les daré de mi Espíritu
a los esclavos y a las esclavas,
para que hablen en mi nombre.

19 ”Daré muestras de mi poder
en el cielo y en la tierra:
habrá sangre, fuego y humo.

20 El sol dejará de alumbrar,
y la luna se pondrá roja,
como si estuviera bañada en sangre.

”Esto pasará antes de que llegue
el maravilloso día
en que juzgaré a este mundo.

21 Pero yo salvaré a todos
los que me reconozcan como su Dios.”

22 »Escúchenme bien, porque voy a hablarles de Jesús, el que vivía en Nazaret. Todos nosotros sabemos que Dios lo envió. También sabemos que Dios le dio grandes poderes, porque lo vimos hacer grandes maravillas y señales.
23 »Desde el principio, Dios había decidido que Jesús sufriera, y que fuera entregado a sus enemigos. Ustedes lo ataron y lo entregaron a los romanos, para que lo mataran.24 ¡Pero Dios hizo que Jesús resucitara! ¡Y es que la muerte no tenía ningún poder sobre él!

25 Hace mucho tiempo, el rey David dijo lo siguiente acerca de Jesús:

“Yo siempre te tengo presente;
si tú estás a mi lado,
nada me hará caer.

26 Por eso estoy muy contento,
por eso canto de alegría,
por eso vivo confiado.

27 ”¡Tú no me dejarás morir
ni me abandonarás en el sepulcro,
pues soy tu fiel servidor!

28 Tú me enseñaste a vivir
como a ti te gusta.
Contigo a mi lado
soy verdaderamente feliz.”

29 »Amigos israelitas, hablemos claro. Cuando David murió, fue enterrado, y todos sabemos dónde está su tumba.

30 Y como David era profeta, Dios le prometió que un familiar suyo sería rey de Israel.
31 »David sabía que Dios cumpliría su promesa. Por eso dijo que el Mesías no moriría para siempre, sino que resucitaría.32 Todos nosotros somos testigos de que Dios resucitó a Jesús,

33 y de que luego lo llevó al cielo y lo sentó a su derecha. t
»Dios le dio a Jesús el Espíritu Santo. Y ahora Jesús nos ha dado ese mismo Espíritu, pues nos lo había prometido. ¡Y esto es lo que ustedes están viendo y oyendo!

34 »Sabemos que quien subió al cielo no fue David, pues él mismo dice:

“Dios le dijo a mi Señor el Mesías:
‘Siéntate a la derecha de mi trono

35 hasta que yo derrote a tus enemigos.’”

36 »Israelitas, ustedes tienen que reconocer, de una vez por todas, que a este mismo Jesús, a quien ustedes mataron en una cruz, Dios le ha dado poder y autoridad sobre toda la humanidad.»

37 Todos los que oyeron estas palabras se pusieron muy tristes y preocupados. Entonces les preguntaron a Pedro y a los demás apóstoles:

—Amigos israelitas, ¿y qué debemos hacer?

38 Pedro les contestó:

—Pídanle perdón a Dios, vuelvan a obedecerlo, y dejen que nosotros los bauticemos en el nombre de Jesucristo. t Así Dios los perdonará y les dará el Espíritu Santo.

39 Esta promesa es para ustedes y para sus hijos, y para todos los que nuestro Dios quiera salvar en otras partes del mundo.

Los primeros cristianos

40 Pedro siguió hablando a la gente con mucho entusiasmo. Les dijo: «Sálvense del castigo que les espera a todos los malvados.»
41 Ese día, unas tres mil personas creyeron en el mensaje de Pedro. Tan pronto como los apóstoles los bautizaron, todas esas personas se unieron al grupo de los seguidores de Jesús

42 y decidieron vivir como una gran familia. Y cada día los apóstoles compartían con ellos las enseñanzas acerca de Dios y de Jesús, y también celebraban la Cena del Señor y oraban juntos.

43 Al ver los milagros y las maravillas que hacían los apóstoles, la gente se quedaba asombrada.
44 Los seguidores de Jesús compartían unos con otros lo que tenían.45 Vendían sus propiedades y repartían el dinero entre todos. A cada uno le daban según lo que necesitaba.46 Además, todos los días iban al templo y celebraban la Cena del Señor, y compartían la comida con cariño y alegría.

47 Juntos alababan a Dios, y todos en la ciudad los querían. Cada día el Señor hacía que muchos creyeran en él y se salvaran. De ese modo, el grupo de sus seguidores se iba haciendo cada vez más grande.

Acts 2

1 And when the day of Pentecost was now come, they were all together in one place.2 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.3 And there appeared unto them tongues parting asunder, like as of fire; and it sat upon each one of them.4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.5 Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven.6 And when this sound was heard, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speaking in his own language.7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying, Behold, are not all these that speak Galilaeans?8 And how hear we, every man in our own language wherein we were born?9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, in Judaea and Cappadocia, in Pontus and Asia,10 in Phrygia and Pamphylia, in Egypt and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and sojourners from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,11 Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking in our tongues the mighty works of God.12 And they were all amazed, and were perplexed, saying one to another, What meaneth this?13 But others mocking said, They are filled with new wine.14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spake forth unto them, saying, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and give ear unto my words.15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose; seeing it is but the third hour of the day.16 but this is that which hath been spoken through the prophet Joel:

17 And it shall be in the last days, saith God, I will pour forth of my Spirit upon all flesh: And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions, And your old men shall dream dreams:

18 Yea and on my servants and on my handmaidens in those days Will I pour forth of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.

19 And I will show wonders in the heaven above, And signs on the earth beneath; Blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke:

20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the day of the Lord come, That great and notable day.

21 And it shall be, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God unto you by mighty works and wonders and signs which God did by him in the midst of you, even as ye yourselves know;23 him, being delivered up by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye by the hand of lawless men did crucify and slay:24 whom God raised up, having loosed the pangs of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.25 For David saith concerning him, I beheld the Lord always before my face; For he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:

26 Therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced; Moreover my flesh also shall dwell in hope:

27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul unto Hades, Neither wilt thou give thy Holy One to see corruption.

28 Thou madest known unto me the ways of life; Thou shalt make me full of gladness with thy countenance.

29 Brethren, I may say unto you freely of the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us unto this day.30 Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins he would set one upon his throne;31 he foreseeing this spake of the resurrection of the Christ, that neither was he left unto Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.32 This Jesus did God raise up, whereof we all are witnesses.33 Being therefore by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he hath poured forth this, which ye see and hear.34 For David ascended not into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

35 Till I make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet.

36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly, that God hath made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom ye crucified.37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and the rest of the apostles, Brethren, what shall we do?38 And Peter said unto them, Repent ye, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.39 For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call unto him.40 And with many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, Save yourselves from this crooked generation.41 They then that received his word were baptized: and there were added unto them in that day about three thousand souls.42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and the prayers.43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;45 and they sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all, according as any man had need.46 And day by day, continuing stedfastly with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread at home, they took their food with gladness and singleness of heart,47 praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to them day by day those that were saved.
