رُوحُ القُدس کا نزُول

1 جب عِیدِ پِنتیکُست کا دِن آیا تو وہ سب ایک جگہ جمع تھے۔ 2 کہ یکایک آسمان سے اَیسی آواز آئی جَیسے زور کی آندھی کا سنّاٹا ہوتا ہے اور اُس سے سارا گھر جہاں وہ بَیٹھے تھے گُونج گیا۔ 3 اور اُنہیں آگ کے شُعلہ کی سی پھٹتی ہُوئی زُبانیں دِکھائی دِیں اور اُن میں سے ہر ایک پر آ ٹھہرِیں۔

4 اور وہ سب رُوحُ القُدس سے بھر گئے اور غَیر زُبانیں بولنے لگے جِس طرح رُوح نے اُنہیں بولنے کی طاقت بخشی۔
5 اَور ہر قَوم میں سے جو آسمان کے تَلے ہے خُدا ترس یہُودی یروشلِیم میں رہتے تھے۔ 6 جب یہ آواز آئی تو بِھیڑ لگ گئی اور لوگ دَنگ ہو گئے کیونکہ ہر ایک کو یِہی سُنائی دیتا تھا کہ یہ میری ہی بولی بول رہے ہیں۔ 7 اور سب حَیران اور متعجُّب ہو کر کہنے لگے دیکھو! یہ بولنے والے کیا سب گلِیلی نہیں؟۔ 8 پِھر کیوں کر ہم میں سے ہر ایک اپنے اپنے وطن کی بولی سُنتا ہے؟۔ 9 حالانکہ ہم پارتھی اور مادی اورعِیلامی اور مسوپتامِیہ اور یہُودیہ اور کپَّدُکیہ اور پُنطُس اور آسِیہ۔ 10 اور فرُوگیہ اور پمفیِلیہ اور مِصر اور لِبوآ کے عِلاقہ کے رہنے والے ہیں جو کرینے کی طرف ہے اور رُومی مُسافِر خَواہ یہُودی خَواہ اُن کے مُرِید اورکریتی اور عَرب ہیں۔ 11 مگر اپنی اپنی زُبان میں اُن سے خُدا کے بڑے بڑے کاموں کا بیان سُنتے ہیں۔

12 اور سب حَیران ہُوئے اور گھبرا کر ایک دُوسرے سے کہنے لگے کہ یہ کیا ہُؤا چاہتا ہے؟۔

13 اور بعض نے ٹھٹّھا کر کے کہا یہ تو تازہ مَے کے نَشہ میں ہیں۔

پطرس کا پَیغام

16 بلکہ یہ وہ بات ہے جو یُوا یل نبی کی معرفت کہی گئی ہے کہ۔

17 خُدا فرماتا ہے کہ آخِری دِنوں میں اَیسا ہو گا
کہ مَیں اپنے رُوح میں سے ہر بشر پرڈالوں گا
اور تُمہارے بیٹے اور تُمہاری بیٹِیاں نبُوّت کریں گی
اور تُمہارے جوان رویا
اور تُمہارے بُڈّھے خواب دیکھیں گے۔

18 بلکہ مَیں اپنے بندوں اور اپنی بندِیوں پربھی
اُن دِنوں میں اپنے رُوح میں سے ڈالُوں گا
اور وہ نبُوّت کریں گی۔

19 اور مَیں اُوپر آسمان پر عجِیب کام
اور نِیچے زمِین پرنِشانیاں
یعنی خُون اور آگ اور دُھوئیں کا بادل دِکھاؤں گا۔

20 سُورج تارِیک
اور چاند خُون ہو جائے گا ۔
پیشتر اِس سے کہ خُداوند کا عظِیم اور جلِیل
دِن آئے۔

21 اور یُوں ہو گا کہ جو کوئی خُداوند کا نام لے گا نجات پائے گا۔
22 اَے اِسرائیِلیو!یہ باتیں سُنو کہ یِسُو ع ناصری ایک شخص تھا جِس کا خُدا کی طرف سے ہونا تُم پر اُن مُعجِزوں اور عجِیب کاموں اور نِشانوں سے ثابِت ہُؤا جو خُدا نے اُس کی معرفت تُم میں دِکھائے ۔ چُنانچہ تُم آپ ہی جانتے ہو۔ 23 جب وہ خُدا کے مُقرّرہ اِنتِظام اور عِلمِ سابِق کے مُوافِق پکڑوایا گیا تو تُم نے بے شرع لوگوں کے ہاتھ سے اُسے مصلُوب کروا کر مار ڈالا۔ 24 لیکن خُدا نے مَوت کے بَند کھول کر اُسے جِلایا کیونکہ مُمکِن نہ تھا کہ وہ اُس کے قبضہ میں رہتا۔

25 کیونکہ داؤُد اُس کے حق میں کہتا ہے کہ
مَیں خُداوند کو ہمیشہ اپنے سامنے دیکھتا رہا ۔
کیونکہ وہ میری د ہنی طرف ہے تاکہ مُجھے جُنبِش
نہ ہو۔

26 اِسی سبب سے میرا دِل خُوش ہُؤا
اور میری زُبان شاد
بلکہ میرا جِسم بھی
اُمّید میں بسا رہے گا۔

27 اِس لِئے کہ تُو میری جان کو عالَمِ اَرواح میں نہ
چھوڑے گا
اور نہ اپنے مُقدّس کے سڑنے کی نَوبت پُہنچنے
دے گا۔

28 تُو نے مُجھے زِندگی کی راہیں بتائِیں۔
تُو مُجھے اپنے دِیدار کے باعِث خُوشی سے بھر
دے گا۔
29 اَے بھائِیو! مَیں قَوم کے بزُرگ داؤُد کے حق میں تُم سے دِلیری کے ساتھ کہہ سکتا ہُوں کہ وہ مُؤا اور دَفن بھی ہُؤا اور اُس کی قبر آج تک ہم میں مَوجُود ہے۔ 30 پس نبی ہو کر اور یہ جان کر کہ خُدا نے مُجھ سے قَسم کھائی ہے کہ تیری نسل سے ایک شخص کو تیرے تخت پر بٹھاؤں گا۔

31 اُس نے پیشِین گوئی کے طَور پر مسِیح کے جی اُٹھنے کا ذِکر کِیا کہ
نہ وہ عالَم ِاَرواح میں چھوڑا گیا
نہ اُس کے جِسم کے سڑنے کی نَوبت پُہنچی۔
32 اِسی یِسُو ع کو خُدا نے جِلایا جِس کے ہم سب گواہ ہیں۔ 33 پس خُدا کے دہنے ہاتھ سے سر بُلند ہو کر اور باپ سے وہ رُوحُ القُدس حاصِل کر کے جِس کا وعدہ کِیا گیا تھا اُس نے یہ نازِل کِیا جو تُم دیکھتے اور سُنتے ہو۔

34 کیونکہ داؤُد تو آسمان پر نہیں چڑھا لیکن وہ خُود کہتا ہے کہ
خُداوند نے میرے خُداوند سے کہا
میری دہنی طرف بَیٹھ۔

35 جب تک مَیں تیرے دُشمنوں کو تیرے پاؤں تَلے کی
چَوکی نہ کر دُوں۔

36 پس اِسرا ئیل کا سارا گھرانا یقِین جان لے کہ خُدا نے اُسی یِسُو ع کو جِسے تُم نے مصلُوب کِیا خُداوند بھی کِیا اور مسِیح بھی۔

37 جب اُنہوں نے یہ سُنا تو اُن کے دِلوں پر چوٹ لگی اور پطر س اور باقی رسُولوں سے کہا کہ اَے بھائِیو! ہم کیا کریں؟۔
38 پطر س نے اُن سے کہا کہ تَوبہ کرو اور تُم میں سے ہر ایک اپنے گُناہوں کی مُعافی کے لِئے یِسُو ع مسِیح کے نام پر بپتِسمہ لے تو تُم رُوحُ القُدس اِنعام میں پاؤ گے۔

39 اِس لِئے کہ یہ وعدہ تُم اور تُمہاری اَولاد اور اُن سب دُور کے لوگوں سے بھی ہے جِن کو خُداوند ہمارا خُدا اپنے پاس بُلائے گا۔
40 اور اُس نے اَور بُہت سی باتیں جتا جتا کر اُنہیں یہ نصِیحت کی کہ اپنے آپ کو اِس ٹیڑھی قَوم سے بچاؤ۔ 41 پس جِن لوگوں نے اُس کا کلام قبُول کِیا اُنہوں نے بپتِسمہ لِیا اور اُسی روز تِین ہزار آدمِیوں کے قرِیب اُن میں مِل گئے۔

42 اور یہ رسُولوں سے تعلِیم پانے اور رفاقت رکھنے میں اور روٹی توڑنے اور دُعا کرنے میں مشغُول رہے۔

The Coming of the Holy Spirit

1  t On the day of Pentecostt all the Lord's followers were together in one place. 2 Suddenly there was a noise from heaven like the sound of a mighty wind! It filled the house where they were meeting. 3 Then they saw what looked like fiery tongues moving in all directions, and a tongue came and settled on each person there.

4 The Holy Spirit took control of everyone, and they began speaking whatever languages the Spirit let them speak.
5 Many religious Jews from every country in the world were living in Jerusalem. 6 And when they heard this noise, a crowd gathered. But they were surprised, because they were hearing everything in their own languages.

7 They were excited and amazed, and said:
Don't all these who are speaking come from Galilee? 8 Then why do we hear them speaking our very own languages? 9 Some of us are from Parthia, Media, and Elam. Others are from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, 10 Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, parts of Libya near Cyrene, Rome,

11 Crete, and Arabia. Some of us were born Jews, and others of us have chosen to be Jews. Yet we all hear them using our own languages to tell the wonderful things God has done.

12 Everyone was excited and confused. Some of them even kept asking each other, “What does all this mean?”

13 Others made fun of the Lord's followers and said, “They are drunk.”

Peter Speaks to the Crowd

14 Peter stood with the eleven apostles and spoke in a loud and clear voice to the crowd:
Friends and everyone else living in Jerusalem, listen carefully to what I have to say! 15 You are wrong to think that these people are drunk. After all, it is only nine o'clock in the morning.

16 But this is what God told the prophet Joel to say,

17  t “When the last days come,
I will give my Spirit
to everyone.
Your sons and daughters
will prophesy.
Your young men
will see visions,
and your old men
will have dreams.

18 In those days I will give
my Spirit to my servants,
both men and women,
and they will prophesy.

19 I will work miracles
in the sky above
and wonders
on the earth below.
There will be blood and fire
and clouds of smoke.

20 The sun will turn dark,
and the moon
will be as red as blood
before the great
and wonderful day
of the Lord appears.

21 Then the Lord
will save everyone
who asks for his help.”
22 Now, listen to what I have to say about Jesus from Nazareth. God proved he sent Jesus to you by having him work miracles, wonders, and signs. All of you know this. 23 t God had already planned and decided that Jesus would be handed over to you. So you took him and had evil men put him to death on a cross. 24 t But God set him free from death and raised him to life. Death could not hold him in its power.

25 t What David said are really the words of Jesus,
“I always see the Lord
near me,
and I will not be afraid
with him at my right side.

26 Because of this,
my heart will be glad,
my words will be joyful,
and I will live in hope.

27 The Lord won't leave me
in the grave.
I am his holy one,
and he won't let
my body decay.

28 He has shown me
the path to life,
and he makes me glad
by being near me.”
29 My friends, it is right for me to speak to you about our ancestor David. He died and was buried, and his tomb is still here.

30 t But David was a prophet, and he knew that God had made a promise he would not break. He had told David someone from his own family would someday be king.
31 David knew this would happen, and so he told us Christ would be raised to life. He said God would not leave him in the grave or let his body decay.

32 All of us can tell you that God has raised Jesus to life!

33 Jesus was taken up to sit at the right sidet of God, and he was given the Holy Spirit, just as the Father had promised. Jesus is also the one who has given the Spirit to us, and this is what you are now seeing and hearing.
34  t David didn't go up to heaven. So he wasn't talking about himself when he said, “The Lord told my Lord to sit at his right side, 35 until he made my Lord's enemies into a footstool for him.”

36 Everyone in Israel should then know for certain that God has made Jesus both Lord and Christ, even though you put him to death on a cross.

37 When the people heard this, they were very upset. They asked Peter and the other apostles, “Friends, what should we do?”
38 Peter said to them, “Turn to God and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

39 This promise is for you and your children. It is for everyone our Lord God will choose, no matter where they live.”
40 Peter told them many other things as well. Then he said, “I beg you to save yourselves from what will happen to all these evil people.” 41 On that day about 3,000 believed his message and were baptized.

42 They spent their time learning from the apostles, and they were like family to each other. They also broke breadt and prayed together.
