1 Đến ngày lễ Ngũ Tuần, môn đồ nhóm họp tại một chỗ.2 Thình lình, có tiếng từ trời đến như tiếng gió thổi ào ào, đầy khắp nhà môn đồ ngồi.3 Các môn đồ thấy lưỡi rời rạc từng cái một, như lưỡi bằng lửa hiện ra, đậu trên mỗi người trong bọn mình.4 Hết thảy đều được đầy dẫy Đức Thánh Linh, khởi sự nói các thứ tiếng khác, theo như Đức Thánh Linh cho mình nói.5 Vả, bấy giờ có người Giu-đa, kẻ mộ đạo, từ các dân thiên hạ đến, ở tại thành Giê-ru-sa-lem.6 Lúc tiếng ấy vang ra, dân chúng chạy đến, ai nấy đều sững sờ vì mỗi người đều nghe các môn đồ nói tiếng xứ mình.7 Chúng đều sợ hãi và lấy làm lạ mà rằng: Hết thảy người nói đó, há chẳng phải là người Ga-li-lê sao?8 Vậy thì sao chúng ta nghe ai nấy đều nói tiếng riêng của xứ chúng ta sanh đẻ?9 Nào người Bạt-thê, Mê-đi, Ê-la-mít, kẻ ở tại Mê-sô-bô-ta-mi, Giu-đê, Cáp-ba-đốc, Bông, A-si,10 Phi-ri-gi, Bam-phi-ly, Ê-díp-tô, đất Li-by gần Sy-ren, nào kẻ từ Rô-ma đến,11 cả người Giu-đa hoặc người mới theo đạo Giu-đa, người Cơ-rết và A rạp nữa, chúng ta đều nghe họ lấy tiếng chúng ta mà nói những sự cao trọng của Đức Chúa Trời.12 Ai ai đều sợ hãi, không biết nghĩ làm sao, bèn nói với nhau rằng: Việc nầy là nghĩa làm sao?13 Nhưng có kẻ lại nhạo báng rằng: Họ say rượu mới đó.14 Bấy giờ, Phi-e-rơ đứng ra cùng mười một sứ đồ, cất tiếng nói với dân chúng rằng: Hỡi người Giu-đa, và mọi người ở tại thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, hãy biết rõ điều nầy, và lắng tai nghe lời ta.15 Những người nầy chẳng phải say như các ngươi ngờ đâu, vì bây giờ mới là giờ thứ ba ban ngày.16 Nhưng ấy là điều đấng tiên tri Giô-ên đã nói tiên tri rằng:17 Đức Chúa Trời phán: Trong những ngày sau rốt, Ta sẽ đổ Thần ta khắp trên mọi xác-thịt; Con trai và con gái các ngươi đều sẽ nói lời tiên tri, Bọn trai trẻ sẽ thấy điềm lạ, Và các người già cả sẽ có chiêm bao,18 Phải, trong những ngày đó, ta sẽ đổ Thần ta khắp trên các đầy tớ trai và gái ta, Chúng nó đều nói lời tiên tri;19 Ta lại sẽ tỏ ra sự lạ lùng ở trên trời, Và dấu lạ ở dưới đất; Tức là máu, lửa, và luồng khói;20 Mặt trời sẽ biến nên tối tăm, Mặt trăng hóa ra máu, Trước ngày lớn và vinh hiển của Chúa chưa đến;21 Và lại ai cầu khẩn danh Chúa thì sẽ được cứu.22 Hỡi người Y-sơ-ra-ên, hãy nghe lời nầy: Đức Chúa Jêsus ở Na-xa-rét, tức là Người mà Đức Chúa Trời đã dùng làm việc quyền phép, sự lạ và dấu lạ ở giữa các ngươi, để làm chứng cho Người trong vòng các ngươi, như chính các ngươi đều biết.23 Người đó bị nộp, theo ý định trước và sự biết trước của Đức Chúa Trời, các ngươi đã mượn tay độc ác mà đóng đinh Người trên thập tự giá và giết đi.24 Nhưng Đức Chúa Trời đã khiến Người sống lại, bứt đứt dây trói của sự chết, vì nó không thể giữ Người lại dưới quyền nó.25 Bởi chưng vua Đa-vít có nói về Người rằng: Tôi từng thấy Chúa ở trước mặt tôi luôn, Vì Ngài ở bên hữu tôi, hầu cho tôi chẳng bị rúng động chút nào.26 Bởi cớ đó, lòng tôi vui vẻ, lưỡi tôi mừng rỡ, Và xác thịt tôi cũng sẽ yên nghỉ trong sự trông cậy;27 Vì Chúa sẽ chẳng để linh hồn tôi nơi âm phủ, Và chẳng cho Đấng Thánh của Ngài hư nát đâu.28 Chúa đã cho tôi biết đường sự sống; Cũng sẽ cho tôi đầy lòng vui mừng trước mặt Ngài.29 Hỡi anh em, ta thật có thể nói cách vững vàng với anh em về tổ Đa-vít rằng người đã chết và chôn rồi, ngày nay mồ mả người còn ở giữa chúng ta.30 Nhưng, vì người là đấng tiên tri, và biết Đức Chúa Trời đã thề hứa với người sẽ cho một hậu tự người ngồi trên ngai mình,31 thì người đã thấy trước và nói trước về sự sống lại của Đấng Christ rằng: Ngài chẳng bị để nơi âm phủ, và xác thịt Ngài chẳng thấy sự hư nát.32 Đức Chúa Jêsus nầy, Đức Chúa Trời đã khiến sống lại, và chúng ta thảy đều làm chứng về sự đó.33 Vậy, sau khi Ngài đã được đem lên bên hữu Đức Chúa Trời, và từ nơi Cha đã nhận lấy Đức Thánh Linh mà Cha đã hứa ban cho, thì Ngài đổ Đức Thánh Linh ra, như các ngươi đang thấy và nghe.34 Vì vua Đa-vít chẳng hề lên trời, nhưng chính người có nói: Chúa đã phán cùng Chúa tôi rằng: Hãy ngồi bên hữu ta,35 Cho đến chừng nào ta để kẻ thù nghịch ngươi dưới chân ngươi, đặng làm bệ cho ngươi.36 Vậy, cả nhà Y-sơ-ra-ên khá biết chắc rằng Đức Chúa Trời đã tôn Jêsus nầy, mà các ngươi đã đóng đinh trên thập tự giá, làm Chúa và Đấng Christ.37 Chúng nghe bấy nhiêu lời, trong lòng cảm động, bèn hỏi Phi-e-rơ và các sứ đồ khác rằng: Hỡi anh em, chúng ta phải làm chi?38 Phi-e-rơ trả lời rằng: Hãy hối cải, ai nấy phải nhân danh Đức Chúa Jêsus chịu phép báp-tem, để được tha tội mình, rồi sẽ được lãnh sự ban cho Đức Thánh Linh.39 Vì lời hứa thuộc về các ngươi, con cái các ngươi, và thuộc về hết thảy mọi người ở xa, tức là bao nhiêu người mà Chúa là Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta sẽ gọi.40 Phi-e-rơ lại lấy nhiều lời giảng nữa mà giục lòng và khuyên lơn chúng rằng: Các ngươi khá cứu mình thoát khỏi giữa dòng dõi gian tà nầy!41 Vậy, những kẻ nhận lời đó đều chịu phép báp-tem; và trong này ấy, có độ ba ngàn người thêm vào Hội thánh.42 Vả, những người ấy bền lòng giữ lời dạy của các sứ đồ, sự thông công của anh em, lễ bẻ bánh, và sự cầu nguyện.43 Mọi người đều kính sợ vì có nhiều sự kỳ phép lạ làm ra bởi các sứ đồ.44 Phàm những người tin Chúa đều hiệp lại với nhau, lấy mọi vật làm của chung.45 Bán hết gia tài điền sản mình mà phân phát cho nhau, tùy sự cần dùng của từng người.46 Ngày nào cũng vậy, cứ chăm chỉ đến đền thờ; còn ở nhà, thì bẻ bánh và dùng bữa chung với nhau cách vui vẻ thật thà,47 ngợi khen Đức Chúa Trời và được đẹp lòng cả dân chúng. Mỗi ngày Chúa lấy những kẻ được cứu thêm vào Hội thánh.

Acts 2

The Holy Spirit and the Day of Pentecost

1 Nowt when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.2 Suddenlyt a soundt like a violent wind blowingt came from heavent and filled the entire house where they were sitting.3 And tongues spreading out like a firet appeared to them and came to rest on each one of them.

4 Allt of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak in other languagests as the Spirit enabled them.t
5 Now there were devout Jewst from every nation under heaven residing in Jerusalem.ts6 When this soundt occurred, a crowd gathered and was in confusion,t because each one heard them speaking in his own language.7 Completely baffled, they said,t “Aren’tt all these who are speaking Galileans?8 And how is it that each one of us hears themt in our own native language?t9 Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and the province of Asia,t10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene,t and visitors from Rome,s11 both Jews and proselytes,s Cretans and Arabs – we hear them speaking in our own languages about the great deeds God has done!”t12 All were astounded and greatly confused, saying to one another, “What does this mean?”

13 But others jeered at the speakers,t saying, “They are drunk on new wine!”ts

Peter’s Address on the Day of Pentecost

14 But Peter stood upt with the eleven, raised his voice, and addressed them: “You men of Judeat and all you who live in Jerusalem,s know thist and listen carefully to what I say.15 In spite of what you think, these men are not drunk,t for it is only nine o’clock in the morning.t

16 But this is what was spoken about through the prophet Joel:s

17 ‘And in the last dayssit will be,’ God says,
‘that I will pour out my Spirit on all people,t
and your sons and your daughters will prophesy,
and your young men will see visions,
and your old men will dream dreams.

18 Even on my servants,tboth men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.s

19 And I will perform wonders in the skytabove
and miraculous signston the earth below,
blood and fire and clouds of smoke.

20 The sun will be changed to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the great and glorioustday of the Lord comes.

21 And thenteveryone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’s
22 “Men of Israel,t listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man clearly attested to you by God with powerful deeds,t wonders, and miraculous signst that God performed among you through him, just as you yourselves know –23 this man, who was handed over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you executedt by nailing him to a cross at the hands of Gentiles.t24 But God raised him up,t having releasedt him from the painss of death, because it was not possible for him to be held in its power.t

25 For David says about him,
‘I saw the Lord always in front of me,t
for he is at my right hand so that I will not be shaken.

26 Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue rejoiced;
my bodytalso will live in hope,

27 because you will not leave my soul in Hades,t
nor permit your Holy One to experiencetdecay.

28 You have made known to me the paths of life;
you will make me full of joy with your presence.’s
29 “Brothers,t I can speak confidentlys to you about our forefathert David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.30 So then, becauset he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath to seat one of his descendantston his throne,s31 David by foreseeing thist spoke about the resurrection of the Christ,ts that he was neither abandoned to Hades,t nor did his bodytexperiencetdecay.s32 This Jesus God raised up, and we are all witnesses of it.t33 So then, exaltedt to the right hands of God, and having receivedt the promise of the Holy Spiritt from the Father, he has poured outs what you both see and hear.

34 For David did not ascend into heaven, but he himself says,
‘The Lord said to my lord,
“Sitsat my right hand

35 until I make your enemies a footstoolsfor your feet.”’s

36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know beyond a doubtt that God has made this Jesus whom you crucifiedt both Lords and Christ.”ts

The Response to Peter’s Address

37 Now when they heard this,t they were acutely distressedt and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “What should we do, brothers?”38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each one of you be baptizedt in the name of Jesus Christts fort the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.t39 For the promises is for you and your children, and for all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.”40 With many other words he testifiedt and exhorted them saying, “Save yourselves from this perverset generation!”

41 So those who acceptedt his messaget were baptized, and that day about three thousand peoplet were added.t

The Fellowship of the Early Believers

42 They were devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship,s to the breaking of bread and to prayer.t43 Reverential awet came over everyone,t and many wonders and miraculous signst came about by the apostles.44 All who believed were together and heldt everything in common,45 and they began sellingt their propertyt and possessions and distributing the proceedst to everyone, as anyone had need.46 Every dayt they continued to gather together by common consent in the temple courts,t breaking bread fromt house to house, sharing their food with glads and humble hearts,t

47 praising God and having the good willt of all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number every dayt those who were being saved.
