1 و چون از ایشان هجرت نمودیم، سفردریا کردیم و به راه راست به کوس آمدیم و روز دیگر به رودس و از آنجا به پاترا.2 وچون کشتیای یافتیم که عازم فینیقیه بود، بر آن سوار شده، کوچ کردیم.3 و قپرس را به نظرآورده، آن را به طرف چپ رها کرده، به سوی سوریه رفتیم و در صور فرود آمدیم زیرا که در آنجا میبایست بار کشتی را فرود آورند.4 پس شاگردی چند پیدا کرده، هفت روز در آنجاماندیم و ایشان به الهام روح به پولس گفتند که به اورشلیم نرود.5 و چون آن روزها را بسر بردیم، روانه گشتیم و همه با زنان و اطفال تا بیرون شهر مارا مشایعت نمودند و به کناره دریا زانو زده، دعاکردیم.6 پس یکدیگر را وداع کرده، به کشتی سوار شدیم و ایشان به خانه های خود برگشتند.7 و ما سفر دریا را به انجام رسانیده، از صور به پتولامیس رسیدیم و برادران را سلام کرده، باایشان یک روز ماندیم.8 در فردای آن روز، ازآنجا روانه شده، به قیصریه آمدیم و به خانه فیلپس مبشر که یکی از آن هفت بود درآمده، نزداو ماندیم.9 و او را چهار دختر باکره بود که نبوت میکردند.10 و چون روز چند در آنجا ماندیم، نبیای آغابوس نام از یهودیه رسید،11 و نزد ما آمده، کمربند پولس را گرفته و دستها و پایهای خود رابسته، گفت: «روحالقدس میگوید که یهودیان دراورشلیم صاحب این کمربند را به همینطور بسته، او را بهدستهای امتها خواهند سپرد.»12 پس چون این را شنیدیم، ما و اهل آنجا التماس نمودیم که به اورشلیم نرود.13 پولس جواب داد: «چه میکنید که گریان شده، دل مرا میشکنیدزیرا من مستعدم که نه فقط قید شوم بلکه تا دراورشلیم بمیرم بهخاطر نام خداوند عیسی.»14 چون او نشنید خاموش شده، گفتیم: «آنچه اراده خداوند است بشود.»15 و بعد از آن ایام تدارک سفر دیده، متوجه اورشلیم شدیم.16 و تنی چند از شاگردان قیصریه همراه آمده، ما را نزد شخصی مناسون نام که از اهل قپرس و شاگرد قدیمی بود، آوردند تانزد او منزل نماییم.17 و چون وارد اورشلیم گشتیم، برادران ما رابه خشنودی پذیرفتند.18 و در روز دیگر، پولس ما را برداشته، نزد یعقوب رفت و همه کشیشان حاضر شدند.19 پس ایشان را سلام کرده، آنچه خدا بوسیله خدمت او در میان امتها به عمل آورده بود، مفصلا گفت.20 ایشان چون این راشنیدند، خدا را تمجید نموده، به وی گفتند: «ای برادر، آگاه هستی که چند هزارها از یهودیان ایمان آوردهاند و جمیع در شریعت غیورند:21 ودرباره تو شنیدهاند که همه یهودیان را که در میان امتها میباشند، تعلیم میدهی که از موسی انحراف نمایند و میگویی نباید اولاد خود رامختون ساخت و به سنن رفتار نمود.22 پس چه باید کرد؟ البته جماعت جمع خواهند شد زیراخواهند شنید که تو آمدهای.23 پس آنچه به توگوییم به عمل آور: چهار مرد نزد ما هستند که برایشان نذری هست.24 پس ایشان را برداشته، خود را با ایشان تطهیر نما و خرج ایشان را بده که سر خود را بتراشند تا همه بدانند که آنچه درباره تو شنیدهاند اصلی ندارد بلکه خود نیز درمحافظت شریعت سلوک مینمایی.25 لیکن درباره آنانی که از امتها ایمان آوردهاند، مافرستادیم و حکم کردیم که از قربانی های بت وخون و حیوانات خفه شده و زنا پرهیز نمایند.26 پس پولس آن اشخاص را برداشته، روز دیگر با ایشان طهارت کرده، به هیکل درآمد و از تکمیل ایام طهارت اطلاع داد تا هدیهای برای هر یک ازایشان بگذرانند.27 و چون هفت روز نزدیک به انجام رسید، یهودیای چند از آسیا او را در هیکل دیده، تمامی قوم را به شورش آوردند و دست بر اوانداخته،28 فریاد برآوردند که «ای مردان اسرائیلی، امداد کنید! این است آن کس که برخلاف امت و شریعت و این مکان در هر جاهمه را تعلیم میدهد. بلکه یونانیای چند را نیز به هیکل درآورده، این مکان مقدس را ملوث نموده است.»29 زیرا قبل از آن تروفیمس افسسی را باوی در شهر دیده بودند و مظنه داشتند که پولس او را به هیکل آورده بود.30 پس تمامی شهر به حرکت آمد و خلق ازدحام کرده، پولس را گرفتند و از هیکل بیرون کشیدند و فی الفور درها را بستند.31 و چون قصدقتل او میکردند، خبر به مین باشی سپاه رسید که «تمامی اورشلیم به شورش آمده است.»32 اوبی درنگ سپاه و یوزباشیها را برداشته، بر سرایشان تاخت. پس ایشان به مجرد دیدن مین باشی و سپاهیان، از زدن پولس دست برداشتند.33 چون مین باشی رسید، او را گرفته، فرمان داد تا او را بدو زنجیر ببندند و پرسید که «این کیست و چه کرده است؟»34 اما بعضی از آن گروه به سخنی و بعضی به سخنی دیگر صدا میکردند. و چون او بهسبب شورش، حقیقت امر رانتوانست فهمید، فرمود تا او را به قلعه بیاورند.35 و چون به زینه رسید، اتفاق افتاد که لشکریان بهسبب ازدحام مردم او را برگرفتند،36 زیرا گروهی کثیر از خلق از عقب او افتاده، صدا میزدند که «اورا هلاک کن!»37 چون نزدیک شد که پولس را به قلعه درآورند، او به مین باشی گفت: آیا اجازت است که به تو چیزی گویم؟ گفت: «آیا زبان یونانی رامی دانی؟38 مگر تو آن مصری نیستی که چندی پیش از این فتنه برانگیخته، چهار هزار مرد قتال رابه بیابان برد؟»39 پولس گفت: «من مرد یهودی هستم از طرسوس قیلیقیه، شهری که بینام ونشان نیست و خواهش آن دارم که مرا اذن فرمایی تا به مردم سخن گویم.»40 چون اذن یافت، بر زینه ایستاده، بهدست خود به مردم اشاره کرد؛ و چون آرامی کامل پیدا شد، ایشان را به زبان عبرانی مخاطب ساخته، گفت.

ACTS 21

Paul Goes to Jerusalem

1 After saying goodbye, we sailed straight to Cos. The next day we reached Rhodes and from there sailed on to Patara.

2 We found a ship going to Phoenicia, so we got on board and sailed off.
3 We came within sight of Cyprus and then sailed south of it on to the port of Tyre in Syria, where the ship was going to unload its cargo. 4 We found the Lord's followers and stayed with them for a week. The Holy Spirit had told them to warn Paul not to go on to Jerusalem. 5 But when the week was over, we started on our way again. All the men, together with their wives and children, walked with us from the town to the seashore. We knelt on the beach and prayed.

6 Then after saying goodbye to each other, we got into the ship, and they went back home.
7 We sailed from Tyre to Ptolemais, where we greeted the followers and stayed with them for a day. 8 t The next day we went to Caesarea and stayed with Philip, the preacher. He was one of the seven men who helped the apostles,

9 and he had four unmarriedt daughters who prophesied.
10  t We had been in Caesarea for several days, when the prophet Agabus came to us from Judea. 11 He took Paul's belt, and with it he tied up his own hands and feet. Then he told us, “The Holy Spirit says that some of the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem will tie up the man who owns this belt. They will also hand him over to the Gentiles.”

12 After Agabus said this, we and the followers living there begged Paul not to go to Jerusalem.

13 But Paul answered, “Why are you crying and breaking my heart? I am not only willing to be put in jail for the Lord Jesus, but I am even willing to die for him in Jerusalem!”

14 Since we could not get Paul to change his mind, we gave up and prayed, “Lord, please make us willing to do what you want.”
15 Then we got ready to go to Jerusalem.

16 Some of the followers from Caesarea went with us and took us to stay in the home of Mnason. He was from Cyprus and had been a follower from the beginning.

Paul Visits James

20 Everyone who heard this praised God and said to Paul:
My friend, you can see how many tens of thousands of our people have become followers! And all of them are eager to obey the Law of Moses.

21 But they have been told that you are teaching those who live among the Gentiles to disobey this Law. They claim that you are telling them not to circumcise their sons or to follow our customs.
22 What should we do now that our people have heard you are here? 23 t Please do what we ask, because four of our men have made special promises to God.

24 Join with them and prepare yourself for the ceremony that goes with the promises. Pay the cost for their heads to be shaved. Then everyone will learn that the reports about you are not true. They will know you do obey the Law of Moses.

25  t Some while ago we told the Gentile followers what we think they should do. We instructed them not to eat anything offered to idols. They were told not to eat any meat with blood still in it or the meat of an animal that has been strangled. They were also told not to commit any terrible sexual sins.t

26 The next day Paul took the four men with him and got himself ready at the same time they did. Then he went into the temple and told when the final ceremony would take place and when an offering would be made for each of them.

Paul Is Arrested

29 t Some of them thought that Paul had brought Trophimus from Ephesus into the temple, because they had seen them together in the city.
30 The whole city was in an uproar, and the people turned into a mob. They grabbed Paul and dragged him out of the temple. Then suddenly the doors were shut. 31 The people were about to kill Paul when the Roman army commander heard that all Jerusalem was starting to riot.

32 So he quickly took some soldiers and officers and ran to where the crowd had gathered.
As soon as the mob saw the commander and soldiers, they stopped beating Paul. 33 The army commander went over and arrested him and had him bound with two chains. Then he tried to find out who Paul was and what he had done. 34 Part of the crowd shouted one thing, and part of them shouted something else. But they were making so much noise that the commander could not find out a thing. Then he ordered Paul to be taken into the fortress. 35 As they reached the steps, the crowd became so wild that the soldiers had to lift Paul up and carry him.

36 The crowd followed and kept shouting, “Kill him! Kill him!”

Paul Speaks to the Crowd

37 When Paul was about to be taken into the fortress, he asked the commander, “Can I say something to you?”
“How do you know Greek?” the commander asked.

38 “Aren't you that Egyptian who started a riot not long ago and led 4,000 terrorists into the desert?”

39 “No!” Paul replied. “I am a Jew from Tarsus, an important city in Cilicia. Please let me speak to the crowd.”
40 The commander told him he could speak, so Paul stood on the steps and motioned to the people. When they were quiet, he spoke to them in Aramaic:t
