Ang Pagpunta ni Pablo sa Jerusalem

1 Pagkatapos naming magpaalam sa kanila, kami'y naglakbay papuntang Cos. Kinabukasan, dumating kami sa Rodas at mula roo'y nagpatuloy kami sa Patara. 2 Dinatnan namin doon ang isang barkong papuntang Fenicia, kaya't lumipat kami sa nasabing sasakyan. 3 Dumaan kami sa tapat ng Cyprus na natatanaw sa gawing kaliwa. Nagpatuloy kami papuntang Siria, ngunit huminto muna sa Tiro ang barko sapagkat magbababâ roon ng kargamento. 4 Hinanap namin ang mga alagad na naroon at nakituloy kami sa kanila sa loob ng pitong araw. Sa patnubay ng Espiritu, sinabi nila kay Pablo na huwag pumunta sa Jerusalem. 5 Ngunit nang dumating ang oras ng aming pag-alis, nagpatuloy kami sa paglalakbay. Kami ay inihatid nilang lahat, kasama ang kanilang mga asawa't mga anak, hanggang sa labas ng lunsod. Pagdating sa tabing-dagat, lumuhod kaming lahat at nanalangin.

6 Pagkatapos naming magpaalam, sumakay na kami sa barko, at sila'y nagsiuwi na.
7 Mula sa Tiro, nagpatuloy kami ng paglalakbay at nakarating kami sa Tolemaida. Nakipagkita kami sa mga kapatid at tumigil doon nang isang araw. 8 Kinabukasan,t tumuloy kami sa Cesarea sa bahay ng ebanghelistang si Felipe, isa sa pitong lalaking hinirang noong una sa Jerusalem. 9 Siya'y may apat na anak na dalaga na pawang mga propeta. 10 Makalipast ang ilang araw, dumating mula sa Judea ang isang propetang ang pangala'y Agabo.

11 Pinuntahan niya kami, kinuha ang pamigkis ni Pablo at ginapos ang sariling paa at kamay. Sabi niya, “Ito ang sabi ng Espiritu Santo, ‘Ganito gagapusin ng mga Judio sa Jerusalem ang may-ari ng pamigkis na ito, at siya'y ibibigay sa kamay ng mga Hentil.’ ”
12 Pagkarinig nito, kami naman at ang mga tagaroon ay nakiusap kay Pablo na huwag na siyang pumunta sa Jerusalem.

13 Ngunit sumagot si Pablo, “Bakit kayo umiiyak? Pinapahina lamang ninyo ang loob ko! Handa ako, hindi lamang pagapos, kundi kahit mamatay doon sa Jerusalem kung kailangan, alang-alang sa pangalan ng Panginoong Jesus.”

14 Tumigil na kami nang hindi namin siya mapigilan. Nasabi na lamang namin, “Masunod ang kalooban ng Panginoon.”
15 Makalipas ang ilang araw, gumayak kami at umalis papuntang Jerusalem.

16 Sumama sa amin ang ilan sa mga alagad na taga-Cesarea at dinala nila kami sa bahay ni Mnason na taga-Cyprus at doon kami nakituloy. Si Mnason ay matagal nang mananampalataya.

Ang Pagdalaw ni Pablo kay Santiago

19 Binati ni Pablo ang mga naroon at isa-isa niyang isinalaysay ang mga bagay na ginawa ng Diyos sa mga Hentil sa pamamagitan ng kanyang paglilingkod.
20 Nang marinig nila ito, sila'y nagpuri sa Diyos at kanilang sinabi kay Pablo, “Alam mo, kapatid, may ilang libo na ang mga Judiong nananalig kay Jesus, at silang lahat ay masigasig sa pagtupad ng Kautusan. 21 May nakapagbalita sa kanila na itinuturo mo raw sa lahat ng Judiong naninirahan sa mga bansang Hentil na tumalikod sa katuruan ni Moises. At sinasabi mo raw na huwag na nilang tuliin ang kanilang mga anak, ni sundin ang kaugalian ng mga Judio. 22 Ano ngayon ang nararapat nating gawin? Tiyak na mababalitaan nilang dumating ka. 23 Ganitot ang gawin mo, mayroon ditong apat na lalaking may panata; 24 isama mo sila at tuparin ninyo ang paglilinis ayon sa Kautusan. Ikaw na ang bahala sa magagastos, at nang sa gayon ay mapaahitan na nila ang kanilang ulo. Sa ganitong paraa'y malalaman ng lahat na hindi totoo ang balita tungkol sa iyo, kundi sumusunod ka pa rin sa Kautusan ni Moises.

25 Tungkolt naman sa mga mananampalatayang Hentil, isinulat na namin sa kanila ang aming pasya. Huwag silang kakain ng anumang inihandog sa diyus-diyosan, huwag kakain ng dugo at ng hayop na binigti, at huwag makikiapid.”

26 Kinabukasan, isinama nga ni Pablo ang mga lalaki at isinagawa nila ang seremonya ng paglilinis. Pagkatapos, siya'y pumasok sa Templo at ipinagbigay-alam kung kailan matatapos ang takdang panahon ng paglilinis upang maialay ang handog para sa bawat isa sa kanila.

Ang Pagdakip kay Pablo

29 Ganoont ang sinabi nila sapagkat nakita nilang kasama ni Pablo sa lunsod si Trofimo na taga-Efeso. Inakala nilang isinama siya ni Pablo sa loob ng Templo.
30 Nagulo ang buong lunsod, at dumagsa ang mga taong-bayan. Sinunggaban nila si Pablo at kinaladkad palabas sa Templo, at biglang isinara ang pintuan. 31 Balak nilang patayin si Pablo, ngunit nabalitaan ng pinuno ng mga sundalo na nagkakagulo sa buong Jerusalem. 32 Kaya't nagsama agad ito ng mga opisyal at mga kawal, at dali-daling nagtungo sa kinaroroonan ng mga tao. Pagkakita sa kanila, itinigil ng mga tao ang pagbugbog kay Pablo.

33 Lumapit ang pinuno, dinakip si Pablo at ipinagapos ng dalawang tanikala. “Sino ang taong ito? Ano ang kanyang ginawa?” tanong niya.
34 Iba-iba ang isinisigaw ng mga tao. Dahil sa sobrang gulo ng mga tao, hindi maliwanagan ng pinuno ang nangyari, kaya't ipinadala niya si Pablo sa himpilan. 35 Pagdating nila sa hagdanan, si Pablo'y binuhat na ng mga kawal sapagkat naging marahas ang mga tao

36 na sumusunod sa kanila at sumisigaw, “Patayin siya!”

Ang Pagtatanggol ni Pablo sa Sarili

37 Nang ipapasok na si Pablo sa himpilan, nakiusap siya sa pinuno, “Maaari ko po ba kayong makausap?”
“Marunong ka bang magsalita ng wikang Griego?” tugon ng pinuno.

38 “Kung gayon, hindi ikaw ang Egipciong kailan lamang ay nanguna sa paghihimagsik at namundok na kasama ng apat na libong lalaki.”
39 Sumagot si Pablo, “Ako po'y isang Judio, tubo sa Tarso ng Cilicia at mamamayan ng kilalang lunsod na iyon. Ipinapakiusap ko sa inyo na ako'y payagan ninyong makapagsalita sa mga tao.” 40 Pinayagan naman siya ng pinuno, kaya't tumayo si Pablo sa baytang at sumenyas sa mga tao. At nang sila'y tumahimik, nagsalita si Pablo sa wikang Hebreo,

ACTS 21

Paul Goes to Jerusalem

1 After saying goodbye, we sailed straight to Cos. The next day we reached Rhodes and from there sailed on to Patara.

2 We found a ship going to Phoenicia, so we got on board and sailed off.
3 We came within sight of Cyprus and then sailed south of it on to the port of Tyre in Syria, where the ship was going to unload its cargo. 4 We found the Lord's followers and stayed with them for a week. The Holy Spirit had told them to warn Paul not to go on to Jerusalem. 5 But when the week was over, we started on our way again. All the men, together with their wives and children, walked with us from the town to the seashore. We knelt on the beach and prayed.

6 Then after saying goodbye to each other, we got into the ship, and they went back home.
7 We sailed from Tyre to Ptolemais, where we greeted the followers and stayed with them for a day. 8 t The next day we went to Caesarea and stayed with Philip, the preacher. He was one of the seven men who helped the apostles,

9 and he had four unmarriedt daughters who prophesied.
10  t We had been in Caesarea for several days, when the prophet Agabus came to us from Judea. 11 He took Paul's belt, and with it he tied up his own hands and feet. Then he told us, “The Holy Spirit says that some of the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem will tie up the man who owns this belt. They will also hand him over to the Gentiles.”

12 After Agabus said this, we and the followers living there begged Paul not to go to Jerusalem.

13 But Paul answered, “Why are you crying and breaking my heart? I am not only willing to be put in jail for the Lord Jesus, but I am even willing to die for him in Jerusalem!”

14 Since we could not get Paul to change his mind, we gave up and prayed, “Lord, please make us willing to do what you want.”
15 Then we got ready to go to Jerusalem.

16 Some of the followers from Caesarea went with us and took us to stay in the home of Mnason. He was from Cyprus and had been a follower from the beginning.

Paul Visits James

20 Everyone who heard this praised God and said to Paul:
My friend, you can see how many tens of thousands of our people have become followers! And all of them are eager to obey the Law of Moses.

21 But they have been told that you are teaching those who live among the Gentiles to disobey this Law. They claim that you are telling them not to circumcise their sons or to follow our customs.
22 What should we do now that our people have heard you are here? 23 t Please do what we ask, because four of our men have made special promises to God.

24 Join with them and prepare yourself for the ceremony that goes with the promises. Pay the cost for their heads to be shaved. Then everyone will learn that the reports about you are not true. They will know you do obey the Law of Moses.

25  t Some while ago we told the Gentile followers what we think they should do. We instructed them not to eat anything offered to idols. They were told not to eat any meat with blood still in it or the meat of an animal that has been strangled. They were also told not to commit any terrible sexual sins.t

26 The next day Paul took the four men with him and got himself ready at the same time they did. Then he went into the temple and told when the final ceremony would take place and when an offering would be made for each of them.

Paul Is Arrested

29 t Some of them thought that Paul had brought Trophimus from Ephesus into the temple, because they had seen them together in the city.
30 The whole city was in an uproar, and the people turned into a mob. They grabbed Paul and dragged him out of the temple. Then suddenly the doors were shut. 31 The people were about to kill Paul when the Roman army commander heard that all Jerusalem was starting to riot.

32 So he quickly took some soldiers and officers and ran to where the crowd had gathered.
As soon as the mob saw the commander and soldiers, they stopped beating Paul. 33 The army commander went over and arrested him and had him bound with two chains. Then he tried to find out who Paul was and what he had done. 34 Part of the crowd shouted one thing, and part of them shouted something else. But they were making so much noise that the commander could not find out a thing. Then he ordered Paul to be taken into the fortress. 35 As they reached the steps, the crowd became so wild that the soldiers had to lift Paul up and carry him.

36 The crowd followed and kept shouting, “Kill him! Kill him!”

Paul Speaks to the Crowd

37 When Paul was about to be taken into the fortress, he asked the commander, “Can I say something to you?”
“How do you know Greek?” the commander asked.

38 “Aren't you that Egyptian who started a riot not long ago and led 4,000 terrorists into the desert?”

39 “No!” Paul replied. “I am a Jew from Tarsus, an important city in Cilicia. Please let me speak to the crowd.”
40 The commander told him he could speak, so Paul stood on the steps and motioned to the people. When they were quiet, he spoke to them in Aramaic:t
