使徒行傳 22

1 「諸位父兄請聽,我現在對你們分訴。」 2 眾人聽他說的是希伯來話,就更加安靜了。 3 保羅說:「我原是猶太人,生在基利家大數,長在這城裏,在迦瑪列門下,按著我們祖宗嚴緊的律法受教,熱心事奉上帝,像你們眾人今日一樣。 4 我也曾逼迫奉這道的人,直到死地,無論男女都鎖拿下監。 5 這是大祭司和眾長老都可以給我作見證的。我又領了他們達與弟兄的書信,往大馬士革去,要把在那裏奉這道的人鎖拿,帶到耶路撒冷受刑。」

保羅述歸主的經過

(9‧1-19;26‧12-18)

6 「我將到大馬士革,正走的時候,約在晌午,忽然從天上發大光,四面照著我。 7 我就仆倒在地,聽見有聲音對我說:『掃羅掃羅!你為甚麼逼迫我?』 8 我回答說:『主啊,你是誰?』他說:『我就是你所逼迫的拿撒勒人耶穌。』 9 與我同行的人看見了那光,卻沒有聽明那位對我說話的聲音。 10 我說:『主啊,我當做甚麼?』主說:『起來,進大馬士革去,在那裏,要將所派你做的一切事告訴你。』 11 我因那光的榮耀不能看見,同行的人就拉著我手進了大馬士革12 那裏有一個人,名叫亞拿尼亞,按著律法是虔誠人,為一切住在那裏的猶太人所稱讚。 13 他來見我,站在旁邊,對我說:『兄弟掃羅,你可以看見。』我當時往上一看,就看見了他。 14 他又說:『我們祖宗的上帝揀選了你,叫你明白他的旨意,又得見那義者,聽他口中所出的聲音。 15 因為你要將所看見的,所聽見的,對著萬人為他作見證。 16 現在你為甚麼耽延呢?起來,求告他的名受洗,洗去你的罪。』」

保羅奉召向外邦人傳道

17 「後來,我回到耶路撒冷,在殿裏禱告的時候,魂遊象外, 18 看見主向我說:『你趕緊地離開耶路撒冷,不可遲延;因你為我作的見證,這裏的人必不領受。』 19 我就說:『主啊,他們知道我從前把信你的人收在監裏,又在各會堂裏鞭打他們。 20 並且你的見證人司提反被害流血的時候,我也站在旁邊歡喜;又看守害死他之人的衣裳。』 21 主向我說:『你去吧!我要差你遠遠地往外邦人那裏去。』」

保羅與長官交涉

22 眾人聽他說到這句話,就高聲說:「這樣的人,從世上除掉他吧!他是不當活著的。」 23 眾人喧嚷,摔掉衣裳,把塵土向空中揚起來。 24 千夫長就吩咐將保羅帶進營樓去,叫人用鞭子拷問他,要知道他們向他這樣喧嚷是為甚麼緣故。 25 剛用皮條捆上,保羅對旁邊站著的百夫長說:「人是羅馬人,又沒有定罪,你們就鞭打他,有這個例嗎?」 26 百夫長聽見這話,就去見千夫長,告訴他說:「你要做甚麼?這人是羅馬人。」 27 千夫長就來問保羅說:「你告訴我,你是羅馬人嗎?」保羅說:「是。」 28 千夫長說:「我用許多銀子才入了羅馬的民籍。」保羅說:「我生來就是。」 29 於是那些要拷問保羅的人就離開他去了。千夫長既知道他是羅馬人,又因為捆綁了他,也害怕了。

保羅在公會前申訴

30 第二天,千夫長為要知道猶太人控告保羅的實情,便解開他,吩咐祭司長和全公會的人都聚集,將保羅帶下來,叫他站在他們面前。

Acts 22

Paul’s Defense

1 “Brothers and fathers, listen to my defenses that I nowt make to you.”2 (When they heardt that he was addressingt them in Aramaic,t they became event quieter.)ts Thent Paul said,3 “I am a Jew,t born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought upt in this city, educated with strictnesst undert Gamalielts according to the law of our ancestors,t and wast zealoust for God just as all of you are today.4 It persecuted this Ways even to the point of death,t tying upt both men and women and puttingt them in prison,5 as both the high priest and the whole council of elderst can testify about me. From themt I also receivedt letters to the brothers in Damascus, and I was on my wayt to make arrests there and bringt the prisonerst to Jerusalemts to be punished.6 Ast I was en route and near Damascus,ts about noon a very brightt light from heavent suddenly flashedt around me.7 Then It fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’8 I answered, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ He said to me, ‘I am Jesus the Nazarene, whom you are persecuting.’9 Those who were with me saw the light, but did not understandt the voice of the one who was speaking to me.10 So I asked,t ‘What should I do, Lord?’ The Lord said to me, ‘Get upt and go to Damascus; there you will be told about everythingt that you have been designatedt to do.’11 Since I could not see because oft the brilliancet of that light, I came to Damascus led by the hand oft those who were with me.12 A man named Ananias,t a devout man according to the law,s well spoken of by all the Jews who live there,t13 camet to me and stood beside met and said to me, ‘Brother Saul, regain your sight!’t And at that very momentt I looked up and saw him.t14 Then he said, ‘The God of our ancestorsts has already chosent you to know his will, to seet the Righteous One,s and to hear a commandt from his mouth,15 because you will be his witnessts to all peoplet of what you have seen and heard.16 And now what are you waiting for?t Get up,t be baptized, and have your sins washed away,s calling on his name.’s17 Whent I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, I fell into a trancet18 and saw the Lordt saying to me, ‘Hurry and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about me.’19 I replied,t ‘Lord, they themselves know that I imprisoned and beat those in the various synagoguests who believed in you.20 And when the blood of your witnesss Stephen was shed,s I myself was standing nearby, approving,t and guarding the cloaksts of those who were killing him.’t

21 Thent he said to me, ‘Go, because I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’”

The Roman Commander Questions Paul

22 The crowdt was listening to him until he said this.ts Thent they raised their voices and shouted,t “Away with this mant from the earth! For he should not be allowed to live!”t23 While they were screamingt and throwing off their cloaksts and tossing dusts in the air,24 the commanding officert ordered Pault to be brought back into the barracks.t He told themt to interrogate Pault by beating him with a lashs so that he could find out the reason the crowdt was shouting at Pault in this way.25 When they had stretched him out for the lash,t Paul said to the centurions standing nearby, “Is it legal for you to lash a man who is a Roman citizent without a proper trial?”ts26 When the centurions heard this,t he went to the commanding officert and reported it,t saying, “What are you about to do?t For this man is a Roman citizen.”t27 So the commanding officert came and askedt Paul,t “Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?”t He replied,t “Yes.”28 The commanding officert answered, “I acquired this citizenship with a large sum of money.”s “But I was event born a citizen,”ts Paul replied.t

29 Then those who were about to interrogate him stayed awayt from him, and the commanding officert was frightened when he realized that Pault wast a Roman citizent and that he had had him tied up.s

Paul Before the Sanhedrin

30 The next day, because the commanding officert wanted to know the true reasont Pault was being accused by the Jews, he released him and ordered the chief priests and the whole councilt to assemble. He then broughtt Paul down and had him stand before them.
