1 اما شخصی حنانیا نام، با زوجهاش سفیره ملکی فروخته،2 قدری از قیمت آن را به اطلاع زن خود نگاه داشت و قدری از آن راآورده، نزد قدمهای رسولان نهاد.3 آنگاه پطرس گفت: «ای حنانیا چرا شیطان دل تو را پر ساخته است تا روحالقدس را فریب دهی و مقداری ازقیمت زمین را نگاه داری؟4 آیا چون داشتی از آن تو نبود و چون فروخته شد در اختیار تو نبود؟ چرا این را در دل خود نهادی؟ به انسان دروغ نگفتی بلکه به خدا.»5 حنانیا چون این سخنان راشنید افتاده، جان بداد و خوفی شدید بر همه شنوندگان این چیزها مستولی گشت.6 آنگاه جوانان برخاسته، او را کفن کردند و بیرون برده، دفن نمودند.7 و تخمین سه ساعت گذشت که زوجهاش ازماجرا مطلع نشده درآمد.8 پطرس بدو گفت: «مرابگو که آیا زمین را به همین قیمت فروختید؟» گفت: «بلی، به همین.»9 پطرس به وی گفت: «برای چه متفق شدید تا روح خداوند را امتحان کنید؟ اینک پایهای آنانی که شوهر تو را دفن کردند، بر آستانه است و تو را هم بیرون خواهندبرد.»10 در ساعت پیش قدمهای او افتاده، جان بداد و جوانان داخل شده، او را مرده یافتند. پس بیرون برده، به پهلوی شوهرش دفن کردند.11 وخوفی شدید تمامی کلیسا و همه آنانی را که این را شنیدند، فرو گرفت.12 و آیات و معجزات عظیمه از دستهای رسولان در میان قوم به ظهور میرسید و همه به یکدل در رواق سلیمان میبودند.13 اما احدی ازدیگران جرات نمی کرد که بدیشان ملحق شود، لیکن خلق، ایشان را محترم میداشتند.14 وبیشتر ایمانداران به خداوند متحد میشدند، انبوهی از مردان و زنان،15 بقسمی که مریضان رادر کوچهها بیرون آوردند و بر بسترها و تختهاخوابانیدند تا وقتی که پطرس آید، اقلا سایه او بربعضی از ایشان بیفتد.16 و گروهی از بلدان اطراف اورشلیم، بیماران و رنج دیدگان ارواح پلیده را آورده، جمع شدند و جمیع ایشان شفایافتند.17 اما رئیس کهنه و همه رفقایش که از طایفه صدوقیان بودند، برخاسته، به غیرت پر گشتند18 و بر رسولان دست انداخته، ایشان را در زندان عام انداختند.19 شبانگاه فرشته خداوند درهای زندان را باز کرده و ایشان را بیرون آورده، گفت:20 «بروید و در هیکل ایستاده، تمام سخنهای این حیات را به مردم بگویید.21 چون این را شنیدند، وقت فجر به هیکل درآمده، تعلیم دادند.22 پس خادمان رفته، ایشان را در زندان نیافتند و برگشته، خبر داده،23 گفتند که «زندان را به احتیاط تمام بسته یافتیم و پاسبانان را بیرون درها ایستاده، لیکن چون باز کردیم، هیچکس را در آن نیافتیم.»24 چون کاهن و سردار سپاه هیکل و روسای کهنه این سخنان را شنیدند، درباره ایشان در حیرت افتادند که «این چه خواهد شد؟»25 آنگاه کسی آمده ایشان را آگاهانید که اینک آن کسانی که محبوس نمودید، در هیکل ایستاده، مردم راتعلیم میدهند.26 پس سردار سپاه با خادمان رفته ایشان را آوردند، لیکن نه به زور زیرا که ازقوم ترسیدند که مبادا ایشان را سنگسار کنند.27 و چون ایشان را به مجلس حاضر کرده، برپابداشتند، رئیس کهنه از ایشان پرسیده، گفت:28 «مگر شما را قدغن بلیغ نفرمودیم که بدین اسم تعلیم مدهید؟ همانا اورشلیم را به تعلیم خود پرساختهاید و میخواهید خون این مرد را به گردن ما فرود آرید.»29 پطرس و رسولان در جواب گفتند: «خدا را میباید بیشتر از انسان اطاعت نمود.30 خدای پدران ما، آن عیسی را برخیزانیدکه شما به صلیب کشیده، کشتید.31 او را خدا بردست راست خود بالا برده، سرور و نجاتدهنده ساخت تا اسرائیل را توبه و آمرزش گناهان بدهد.32 و ما هستیم شاهدان او بر این امور، چنانکه روحالقدس نیز است که خدا او را به همه مطیعان او عطا فرموده است.»33 چون شنیدند دلریش گشته، مشورت کردند که ایشان را به قتل رسانند.34 اما شخصی فریسی، غمالائیل نام که مفتی و نزد تمامی خلق محترم بود، در مجلس برخاسته، فرمود تارسولان را ساعتی بیرون برند.35 پس ایشان راگفت: «ای مردان اسرائیلی، برحذر باشید از آنچه میخواهید با این اشخاص بکنید.36 زیرا قبل ازاین ایام، تیودا نامی برخاسته، خود را شخصی میپنداشت و گروهی قریب به چهار صد نفر بدوپیوستند. او کشته شد و متابعانش نیز پراکنده ونیست گردیدند.37 و بعد از او یهودای جلیلی درایام اسم نویسی خروج کرد و جمعی را در عقب خود کشید. او نیز هلاک شد و همه تابعان اوپراکنده شدند.38 الان به شما میگویم از این مردم دست بردارید و ایشان را واگذارید زیرا اگراین رای و عمل از انسان باشد، خود تباه خواهد شد.39 ولی اگر از خدا باشد، نمی توانید آن رابرطرف نمود مبادا معلوم شود که با خدا منازعه میکنید.»40 پس به سخن او رضا دادند و رسولان را حاضر ساخته، تازیانه زدند و قدغن نمودند که دیگر به نام عیسی حرف نزنند پس ایشان رامرخص کردند.41 و ایشان از حضور اهل شوراشادخاطر رفتند از آنرو که شایسته آن شمرده شدند که بجهت اسم او رسوایی کشند42 و هرروزه در هیکل و خانهها از تعلیم و مژده دادن که عیسی مسیح است دست نکشیدند.

ACTS 5

Peter Condemns //Ananias and Sapphira

1 Ananias and his wife Sapphira also sold a piece of property.

2 But they agreed to cheat and keep some of the money for themselves.
So when Ananias took the rest of the money to the apostles, 3 Peter said, “Why has Satan made you keep back some of the money from the sale of the property? Why have you lied to the Holy Spirit?

4 The property was yours before you sold it, and even after you sold it, the money was still yours. What made you do such a thing? You didn't lie to people. You lied to God!”
5  t As soon as Ananias heard this, he dropped dead, and everyone who heard about it was frightened.

6 Some young men came in and wrapped up his body. Then they took it out and buried it.
7 Three hours later Sapphira came in, but she did not know what had happened to her husband.

8 Peter asked her, “Tell me, did you sell the property for this amount?”
“Yes,” she answered, “that's the amount.”
9 Then Peter said, “Why did the two of you agree to test the Lord's Spirit? The men who buried Ananias are by the door, and they will carry you out!”

10 At once she fell at Peter's feet and died.
When the young men came back in, they found Sapphira lying there dead. So they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

11 The church members were afraid, and so was everyone else who heard what had happened.

Peter's Unusual Power

13 No one outside their group dared join them, even though everyone liked them very much.
14 Many men and women started having faith in the Lord. 15 Then sick people were brought out to the road and placed on mats. It was hoped that Peter would walk by, and his shadow would fall on them and heal them.

16 A lot of people living in the towns near Jerusalem brought those who were sick or troubled by evil spirits, and they were all healed.

Trouble for the Apostles

21 So they went into the temple before sunrise and started teaching.
The high priest and his men called together their council, which included all of Israel's leaders. Then they ordered the apostles to be brought to them from the jail. 22 The temple police who were sent to the jail did not find the apostles. They returned and said, 23 “We found the jail locked tight and the guards standing at the doors. But when we opened the doors and went in, we didn't find anyone there.”

24 The captain of the temple police and the chief priests listened to their report, but they did not know what to think about it.
25 Just then someone came in and said, “Now those men you put in jail are in the temple, teaching the people!”

26 The captain went with some of the temple police and brought the apostles back. But they did not use force. They were afraid that the people might start throwing stones at them.
27 When the apostles were brought before the council, the high priest said to them,

28 t “We told you plainly not to teach in the name of Jesus. But look what you have done! You have been teaching all over Jerusalem, and you are trying to blame us for his death.”

29 Peter and the apostles replied:
We don't obey people. We obey God. 30 You killed Jesus by nailing him to a cross. But the God our ancestors worshiped raised him to life 31 and made him our Leader and Savior. Then God gave him a place at his right side, t so that the people of Israel would turn back to him and be forgiven.

32 We are here to tell you about all this, and so is the Holy Spirit, who is God's gift to everyone who obeys God.
33 When the council members heard this, they became so angry they wanted to kill the apostles. 34 But one of the members was the Pharisee Gamaliel, a highly respected teacher. He ordered the apostles to be taken out of the room for a little while.

35 Then he said to the council:
Men of Israel, be careful what you do with these men.

36 Not long ago Theudas claimed to be someone important, and about 400 men joined him. But he was killed, and all his followers were scattered. That was the end of that.

37 Later, when the people of our nation were being counted, Judas from Galilee showed up. A lot of people followed him, but he was killed, and all his followers were scattered.
38 So I advise you to stay away from these men. Leave them alone. If what they are planning is something of their own doing, it will fail.

39 t But if God is behind it, you cannot stop it anyway, unless you want to fight against God.
The council members agreed with what he said,

40 and they called the apostles back in. They had them beaten with a whip and warned them not to speak in the name of Jesus. Then they let them go.
41 The apostles left the council and were happy, because God had considered them worthy to suffer for the sake of Jesus. 42 Every day they spent time in the temple and in one home after another. They never stopped teaching and telling the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.
