کارهای رسولان 5

حنانیا و سفیره

1 امّا شخصی به نام حنانیا با همسر خود سفیره قطعهٔ زمینی را فروخت 2 و با اطّلاع زن خود مبلغی از پول آن را نگه داشت و بقیّهٔ را آورد و در اختیار رسولان نهاد. 3 پطرس گفت: «ای حنانیا، چرا این‌طور تسلیم شیطان شدی تا او تو را وادار كند به روح‌القدس دروغ بگویی و مقداری از پول زمینت را نگاه داری؟ آیا وقتی آن را داشتی مال خودت نبود؟ 4 آیا وقتی آن را فروختی باز هم در اختیارت نبود؟ چطور شد كه فكر چنین كاری كردی؟ تو نه به انسان، بلكه به خدا دروغ گفته‌ای.» 5 همین‌که حنانیا این سخنان را شنید به زمین افتاد و جان سپرد و همهٔ آنانی كه این را شنیدند بسیار ترسیدند. 6 آنگاه جوانان آمدند و او را كفن كرده به خاک سپردند. 7 پس از سه ساعت همسرش بدون اینكه از جریان آگاه شده باشد وارد شد. 8 پطرس از او پرسید: «بگو ببینم آیا زمین را به همین مبلغ فروختید؟» زن گفت: «آری به همین مبلغ.» 9 پطرس به او گفت: «چرا هر دو همدست شدید كه روح خداوند را بیازمایید؟ کسانی‌که شوهرت را دفن کرده‌اند هم اكنون در آستانهٔ در هستند و تو را هم خواهند برد.» 10 در همان لحظه او پیش پاهای پطرس افتاد و جان داد. جوانان كه وارد شدند او را مرده یافتند و جسدش را بردند و پیش شوهرش دفن كردند.

11 ترس عظیمی بر همهٔ كلیسا و کسانی‌که این ماجرا را شنیدند چیره شد.

عجایب و معجزات


12 رسولان عجایب و نشانه‌های بی‌شماری در میان قوم انجام می‌دادند و با وحدت نظر در ایوان سلیمان جمع می‌شدند. 13 هیچ‌کس خارج از جمع خودشان جرأت نمی‌کرد با آنان همنشین شود، امّا مردم عموماً از ایشان تعریف می‌کردند. 14 ولی بیش از پیش مردان و زنهای بسیاری به خداوند ایمان آوردند و به ایشان پیوستند. 15 كار به جایی رسید كه مردم، بیماران خود را در كوچه‌ها می‌آوردند و آنان را بر بستر و تشک می‌خوابانیدند تا وقتی‌که پطرس از آنجا می‌گذشت لااقل سایهٔ او بر بعضی از آنان بیفتد.

16 عدّهٔ زیادی از شهرهای اطراف اورشلیم آمدند و بیماران و كسانی را كه گرفتار ارواح پلید می‌بودند آورده و همه شفا یافتند.

بازداشت رسولان و بازجویی از آنان


17 در این هنگام كاهن اعظم و دستیاران او یعنی فرقهٔ صدوقی از روی حسد اقداماتی به عمل آوردند: 18 آنها رسولان را گرفتند و به زندان عمومی انداختند 19 امّا همان شب فرشتهٔ خداوند درهای زندان را باز كرد و آنان را بیرون برد و به ایشان گفت: 20 «بروید و در معبد بزرگ بایستید و در مورد این حیات تازه با همه صحبت كنید.» 21 پس آنان این را شنیدند و به آن عمل كردند و صبح زود به معبد بزرگ رفته به تعلیم پرداختند. كاهن اعظم و دستیاران او، اعضای شورا و مشایخ اسرائیل را فراخوانده جلسه‌ای تشكیل دادند و كسانی را فرستادند تا رسولان را از زندان بیرون بیاورند. 22 وقتی مأموران وارد زندان شدند آنان را نیافتند. پس بازگشتند و گزارش داده گفتند: 23 «ما دیدیم كه درهای زندان کاملاً بسته بود و نگهبانان در جلوی درها سر خدمت حاضر بودند؛ ولی وقتی در را باز كردیم، هیچ‌كس را نیافتیم.» 24 هنگامی‌كه فرماندهٔ پاسداران معبد بزرگ و سران كاهنان این را شنیدند، حیران ماندند كه چه به سر رسولان آمده و عاقبت كار چه خواهد شد. 25 در این هنگام شخصی جلو آمد و گفت: «زندانیان شما در معبد بزرگ ایستاده‌اند و قوم را تعلیم می‌دهند.» 26 پس فرمانده با پاسداران معبد بزرگ رفت و آنان را آورد، البتّه بدون اِعمال زور زیرا می‌ترسیدند كه قوم آنان را سنگسار كنند. 27 رسولان را آوردند و در برابر شورا بپا داشتند و كاهن اعظم بازپرسی را چنین آغاز كرده گفت: 28 «مگر ما اكیداً به شما اخطار نكردیم كه دیگر به این نام تعلیم ندهید؟ امّا شما برخلاف دستور ما اورشلیم را با تعالیم خود پر کرده‌اید و می‌کوشید كه خون این شخص را به گردن ما بیندازید.» 29 پطرس و رسولان پاسخ دادند: «از خدا باید اطاعت كرد، نه از انسان. 30 خدای نیاکان ما همان عیسی را كه شما مصلوب كرده و كشتید زنده گردانید 31 و به عنوان سرور و نجات‌دهنده با سرافرازی در سَمت راست خود نشانید تا فرصت توبه و آمرزش گناهان را به بنی‌اسرائیل عطا فرماید 32 و ما شاهدان این امور هستیم یعنی ما و روح‌القدس كه خدا به مطیعان خود بخشیده است.» 33 هنگامی‌كه این را شنیدند، چنان خشمگین شدند كه تصمیم گرفتند آنان را بكشند. 34 امّا شخصی از فرقهٔ فریسی به نام غمالائیل كه استاد شریعت و نزد همهٔ مردم محترم بود در مجلس بپا خواست و دستور داد كه متّهمان را مدّتی بیرون برند. 35 سپس به حاضران گفت: «ای اسرائیلیان مواظب باشید كه با اینها چه می‌کنید. 36 مدّتی قبل شخصی به نام تئودا برخاست و با این ادّعا كه شخص مهمی است، تقریباً چهارصد نفر را دور خود جمع كرد. امّا او به قتل رسید و همهٔ پیروانش از هم پاشیده شدند و تمام نقشه‌های او نقش بر آب شد. 37 یهودای جلیلی هم در زمان سرشماری برخاست و گروهی را به دنبال خود كشید، امّا او هم از بین رفت و پیروانش پراكنده شدند. 38 و امروز این را به شما می‌گویم كه با این افراد كاری نداشته باشید. آنها را به حال خود بگذارید، زیرا اگر نقشه و كاری كه دارند از آن انسان باشد، به ثمر نخواهد رسید. 39 امّا اگر از آن خدا باشد، شما نمی‌توانید آنها را شكست دهید. چون در این صورت شما هم جزء كسانی خواهید شد، كه با خدا ستیزه می‌کنند.» 40 آنان به نصیحت او گوش دادند. رسولان را احضار كردند و پس از آنکه آنها را با شلاّق زدند، به آنان اخطار كردند كه باید از سخن گفتن به نام عیسی دست بردارند. سپس آنها را آزاد ساختند. 41 پس رسولان چون خدا آنان را شایسته دانسته بود كه به‌خاطر نام عیسی بی‌حرمتی ببینند شادی‌كنان از حضور شورا بیرون رفتند. 42 و همه روزه در معبد بزرگ و در خانه‌ها به تعلیم و اعلام این مژده كه عیسی، مسیح موعود است، ادامه دادند.

ACTS 5

Peter Condemns //Ananias and Sapphira

1 Ananias and his wife Sapphira also sold a piece of property.

2 But they agreed to cheat and keep some of the money for themselves.
So when Ananias took the rest of the money to the apostles, 3 Peter said, “Why has Satan made you keep back some of the money from the sale of the property? Why have you lied to the Holy Spirit?

4 The property was yours before you sold it, and even after you sold it, the money was still yours. What made you do such a thing? You didn't lie to people. You lied to God!”
5  t As soon as Ananias heard this, he dropped dead, and everyone who heard about it was frightened.

6 Some young men came in and wrapped up his body. Then they took it out and buried it.
7 Three hours later Sapphira came in, but she did not know what had happened to her husband.

8 Peter asked her, “Tell me, did you sell the property for this amount?”
“Yes,” she answered, “that's the amount.”
9 Then Peter said, “Why did the two of you agree to test the Lord's Spirit? The men who buried Ananias are by the door, and they will carry you out!”

10 At once she fell at Peter's feet and died.
When the young men came back in, they found Sapphira lying there dead. So they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

11 The church members were afraid, and so was everyone else who heard what had happened.

Peter's Unusual Power


12 The apostles worked many miracles and wonders among the people. All of the Lord's followers often met in the part of the temple known as Solomon's Porch.t

13 No one outside their group dared join them, even though everyone liked them very much.
14 Many men and women started having faith in the Lord. 15 Then sick people were brought out to the road and placed on mats. It was hoped that Peter would walk by, and his shadow would fall on them and heal them.

16 A lot of people living in the towns near Jerusalem brought those who were sick or troubled by evil spirits, and they were all healed.

Trouble for the Apostles


17 The high priest and all the other Sadducees who were with him became jealous. 18 They arrested the apostles and put them in the city jail. 19 But that night an angel from the Lord opened the doors of the jail and led the apostles out. The angel said, 20 “Go to the temple and tell the people everything about this new life.”

21 So they went into the temple before sunrise and started teaching.
The high priest and his men called together their council, which included all of Israel's leaders. Then they ordered the apostles to be brought to them from the jail. 22 The temple police who were sent to the jail did not find the apostles. They returned and said, 23 “We found the jail locked tight and the guards standing at the doors. But when we opened the doors and went in, we didn't find anyone there.”

24 The captain of the temple police and the chief priests listened to their report, but they did not know what to think about it.
25 Just then someone came in and said, “Now those men you put in jail are in the temple, teaching the people!”

26 The captain went with some of the temple police and brought the apostles back. But they did not use force. They were afraid that the people might start throwing stones at them.
27 When the apostles were brought before the council, the high priest said to them,

28 t “We told you plainly not to teach in the name of Jesus. But look what you have done! You have been teaching all over Jerusalem, and you are trying to blame us for his death.”

29 Peter and the apostles replied:
We don't obey people. We obey God. 30 You killed Jesus by nailing him to a cross. But the God our ancestors worshiped raised him to life 31 and made him our Leader and Savior. Then God gave him a place at his right side, t so that the people of Israel would turn back to him and be forgiven.

32 We are here to tell you about all this, and so is the Holy Spirit, who is God's gift to everyone who obeys God.
33 When the council members heard this, they became so angry they wanted to kill the apostles. 34 But one of the members was the Pharisee Gamaliel, a highly respected teacher. He ordered the apostles to be taken out of the room for a little while.

35 Then he said to the council:
Men of Israel, be careful what you do with these men.

36 Not long ago Theudas claimed to be someone important, and about 400 men joined him. But he was killed, and all his followers were scattered. That was the end of that.

37 Later, when the people of our nation were being counted, Judas from Galilee showed up. A lot of people followed him, but he was killed, and all his followers were scattered.
38 So I advise you to stay away from these men. Leave them alone. If what they are planning is something of their own doing, it will fail.

39 t But if God is behind it, you cannot stop it anyway, unless you want to fight against God.
The council members agreed with what he said,

40 and they called the apostles back in. They had them beaten with a whip and warned them not to speak in the name of Jesus. Then they let them go.
41 The apostles left the council and were happy, because God had considered them worthy to suffer for the sake of Jesus. 42 Every day they spent time in the temple and in one home after another. They never stopped teaching and telling the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.
