حننیاہ اور سفیرہ

1 اور ایک شخص حننیا ہ نام اور اُس کی بِیوی سفِیر ہ نے جائیداد بیچی۔ 2 اور اُس نے اپنی بِیوی کے جانتے ہُوئے قِیمت میں سے کُچھ رکھ چھوڑا اور ایک حِصّہ لا کر رسُولوں کے پاؤں میں رکھ دِیا۔ 3 مگر پطر س نے کہا اَے حننیا ہ! کیوں شَیطان نے تیرے دِل میں یہ بات ڈال دی کہ تُو رُوحُ القُدس سے جُھوٹ بولے اور زمِین کی قِیمت میں سے کُچھ رکھ چھوڑے؟۔ 4 کیا جب تک وہ تیرے پاس تھی تیری نہ تھی؟ اور جب بیچی گئی تو تیرے اِختیار میں نہ رہی؟ تُو نے کیوں اپنے دِل میں اِس بات کا خیال باندھا؟ تُو آدمِیوں سے نہیں بلکہ خُدا سے جُھوٹ بولا۔ 5 یہ باتیں سُنتے ہی حننیا ہ گِر پڑا اور اُس کا دَم نِکل گیا اور سب سُننے والوں پر بڑا خَوف چھا گیا۔

6 پِھر جوانوں نے اُٹھ کر اُسے کَفنایا اور باہر لے جا کر دفن کِیا۔
7 اور قرِیباً تِین گھنٹے گُذر جانے کے بعد اُس کی بِیوی اِس ماجرے سے بے خبر اندر آئی۔

8 پطر س نے اُس سے کہا مُجھے بتا تو ۔ کیا تُم نے اِتنے ہی کو زمِین بیچی تھی؟
اُس نے کہا ہاں ۔ اِتنے ہی کو۔
9 پطرس نے اُس سے کہا تُم نے کیوں خُداوند کے رُوح کو آزمانے کے لِئے ایکا کِیا؟ دیکھ تیرے شَوہر کے دفن کرنے والے دروازہ پر کھڑے ہیں اور تُجھے بھی باہر لے جائیں گے۔ 10 وہ اُسی دَم اُس کے قدموں پر گِر پڑی اور اُس کا دَم نِکل گیا اور جوانوں نے اندر آ کر اُسے مُردہ پایا اور باہر لے جا کر اُس کے شَوہر کے پاس دفن کر دِیا۔

11 اور ساری کلِیسیا بلکہ اِن باتوں کے سب سُننے والوں پر بڑا خَوف چھا گیا۔

نِشان اور عجِیب کام

16 اور یروشلِیم کی چاروں طرف کے شہروں سے بھی لوگ بِیماروں اور ناپاک رُوحوں کے ستائے ہُوؤں کو لا کر کثرت سے جمع ہوتے تھے اور وہ سب اچّھے کر دِئے جاتے تھے۔

رسُول ستائے جاتے ہیں

21 وہ یہ سُن کر صُبح ہوتے ہی ہَیکل میں گئے اور تعلِیم دینے لگے
مگر سردار کاہِن اور اُس کے ساتِھیوں نے آ کر صدر عدالت والوں اور بنی اِسرائیل کے سب بزُرگوں کو جمع کِیا اور قَیدخانہ میں کہلا بھیجا کہ اُنہیں لائیں۔ 22 لیکن پیادوں نے پُہنچ کر اُنہیں قَیدخانہ میں نہ پایا اور لَوٹ کر خبر دی۔ 23 کہ ہم نے قَیدخانہ کو تو بڑی حِفاظت سے بند کِیا ہُؤا اور پہرے والوں کو دروازوں پر کھڑے پایا مگر جب کھولا تو اندر کوئی نہ مِلا۔ 24 جب ہَیکل کے سردار اور سردار کاہِنوں نے یہ باتیں سُنِیں تو اُن کے بارے میں حَیران ہُوئے کہ اِس کا کیا اَنجام ہو گا۔ 25 اِتنے میں کِسی نے آ کر اُنہیں خبر دی کہ دیکھو ۔ وہ آدمی جنہیں تُم نے قَید کِیا تھا ہَیکل میں کھڑے لوگوں کو تعلِیم دے رہے ہیں۔

26 تب سردار پیادوں کے ساتھ جا کر اُنہیں لے آیا لیکن زبردستی نہیں کیونکہ لوگوں سے ڈرتے تھے کہ ہم کو سنگسار نہ کریں۔
27 پِھر اُنہیں لا کر عدالت میں کھڑا کر دِیا اور سردار کاہِن نے اُن سے یہ کہا۔

28 کہ ہم نے تو تُمہیں سخت تاکِید کی تھی کہ یہ نام لے کر تعلِیم نہ دینا مگر دیکھو تُم نے تمام یروشلِیم میں اپنی تعلِیم پَھیلا دی اور اُس شخص کا خُون ہماری گَردن پر رکھنا چاہتے ہو۔
29 پطر س اور رسُولوں نے جواب میں کہا کہ ہمیں آدمِیوں کے حُکم کی نِسبت خُدا کا حُکم ماننا زِیادہ فرض ہے۔ 30 ہمارے باپ دادا کے خُدا نے یِسُو ع کو جِلایا جِسے تُم نے صلِیب پر لٹکا کر مار ڈالا تھا۔ 31 اُسی کو خُدا نے مالِک اور مُنجّی ٹھہرا کر اپنے دہنے ہاتھ سے سر بُلند کِیا تاکہ اِسرا ئیل کو تَوبہ کی تَوفِیق اورگُناہوں کی مُعافی بخشے۔

32 اور ہم اِن باتوں کے گواہ ہیں اور رُوحُ القُدس بھی جِسے خُدا نے اُنہیں بخشا ہے جو اُس کا حُکم مانتے ہیں۔
33 وہ یہ سُن کر جل گئے اور اُنہیں قتل کرنا چاہا۔ 34 مگرگملی ایل نام ایک فرِیسی نے جو شرع کا مُعلِّم اور سب لوگوں میں عِزّت دار تھا عدالت میں کھڑے ہو کر حُکم دِیا کہ اِن آدمِیوں کو تھوڑی دیر کے لِئے باہر کر دو۔ 35 پِھر اُن سے کہا کہ اَے اِسرائیِلیو!اِن آدمِیوں کے ساتھ جو کُچھ کِیا چاہتے ہو ہوشیاری سے کرنا۔ 36 کیونکہ اِن دِنوں سے پہلے تھیُودا س نے اُٹھ کر دعویٰ کِیا تھا کہ مَیں بھی کُچھ ہُوں اور تخمِیناً چار سَو آدمی اُس کے ساتھ ہو گئے تھے مگر وہ مارا گیا اور جِتنے اُس کے ماننے والے تھے سب پراگندہ ہُوئے اور مِٹ گئے۔ 37 اِس شخص کے بعد یہُودا ہ گلِیلی اِسم نوِیسی کے دِنوں میں اُٹھا اور اُس نے کُچھ لوگ اپنی طرف کر لِئے ۔ وہ بھی ہلاک ہُؤا اور جِتنے اُس کے ماننے والے تھے سب پراگندہ ہو گئے۔ 38 پس اب مَیں تُم سے کہتا ہُوں کہ اِن آدمِیوں سے کنا رہ کرو اور اِن سے کُچھ کام نہ رکھّو ۔ کہِیں اَیسا نہ ہو کہ خُدا سے بھی لڑنے والے ٹھہرو کیونکہ یہ تدبِیر یا کام اگر آدمِیوں کی طرف سے ہے تو آپ برباد ہو جائے گا۔

39 لیکن اگر خُدا کی طرف سے ہے تو تُم اِن لوگوں کو مغلُوب نہ کر سکو گے۔
40 اُنہوں نے اُس کی بات مانی اور رسُولوں کو پاس بُلا کر اُن کو پِٹوایا اور یہ حُکم دے کر چھوڑ دِیا کہ یِسُو ع کا نام لے کر بات نہ کرنا۔ 41 پس وہ عدالت سے اِس بات پر خُوش ہو کر چلے گئے کہ ہم اُس نام کی خاطِر بے عِزّت ہونے کے لائِق تو ٹھہرے۔ 42 اور وہ ہَیکل میں اور گھروں میں ہر روز تعلِیم دینے اور اِس بات کی خُوشخبری سُنانے سے کہ یِسُو ع ہی مسِیح ہے باز نہ آئے۔

ACTS 5

Peter Condemns //Ananias and Sapphira

1 Ananias and his wife Sapphira also sold a piece of property.

2 But they agreed to cheat and keep some of the money for themselves.
So when Ananias took the rest of the money to the apostles, 3 Peter said, “Why has Satan made you keep back some of the money from the sale of the property? Why have you lied to the Holy Spirit?

4 The property was yours before you sold it, and even after you sold it, the money was still yours. What made you do such a thing? You didn't lie to people. You lied to God!”
5  t As soon as Ananias heard this, he dropped dead, and everyone who heard about it was frightened.

6 Some young men came in and wrapped up his body. Then they took it out and buried it.
7 Three hours later Sapphira came in, but she did not know what had happened to her husband.

8 Peter asked her, “Tell me, did you sell the property for this amount?”
“Yes,” she answered, “that's the amount.”
9 Then Peter said, “Why did the two of you agree to test the Lord's Spirit? The men who buried Ananias are by the door, and they will carry you out!”

10 At once she fell at Peter's feet and died.
When the young men came back in, they found Sapphira lying there dead. So they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

11 The church members were afraid, and so was everyone else who heard what had happened.

Peter's Unusual Power

13 No one outside their group dared join them, even though everyone liked them very much.
14 Many men and women started having faith in the Lord. 15 Then sick people were brought out to the road and placed on mats. It was hoped that Peter would walk by, and his shadow would fall on them and heal them.

16 A lot of people living in the towns near Jerusalem brought those who were sick or troubled by evil spirits, and they were all healed.

Trouble for the Apostles

21 So they went into the temple before sunrise and started teaching.
The high priest and his men called together their council, which included all of Israel's leaders. Then they ordered the apostles to be brought to them from the jail. 22 The temple police who were sent to the jail did not find the apostles. They returned and said, 23 “We found the jail locked tight and the guards standing at the doors. But when we opened the doors and went in, we didn't find anyone there.”

24 The captain of the temple police and the chief priests listened to their report, but they did not know what to think about it.
25 Just then someone came in and said, “Now those men you put in jail are in the temple, teaching the people!”

26 The captain went with some of the temple police and brought the apostles back. But they did not use force. They were afraid that the people might start throwing stones at them.
27 When the apostles were brought before the council, the high priest said to them,

28 t “We told you plainly not to teach in the name of Jesus. But look what you have done! You have been teaching all over Jerusalem, and you are trying to blame us for his death.”

29 Peter and the apostles replied:
We don't obey people. We obey God. 30 You killed Jesus by nailing him to a cross. But the God our ancestors worshiped raised him to life 31 and made him our Leader and Savior. Then God gave him a place at his right side, t so that the people of Israel would turn back to him and be forgiven.

32 We are here to tell you about all this, and so is the Holy Spirit, who is God's gift to everyone who obeys God.
33 When the council members heard this, they became so angry they wanted to kill the apostles. 34 But one of the members was the Pharisee Gamaliel, a highly respected teacher. He ordered the apostles to be taken out of the room for a little while.

35 Then he said to the council:
Men of Israel, be careful what you do with these men.

36 Not long ago Theudas claimed to be someone important, and about 400 men joined him. But he was killed, and all his followers were scattered. That was the end of that.

37 Later, when the people of our nation were being counted, Judas from Galilee showed up. A lot of people followed him, but he was killed, and all his followers were scattered.
38 So I advise you to stay away from these men. Leave them alone. If what they are planning is something of their own doing, it will fail.

39 t But if God is behind it, you cannot stop it anyway, unless you want to fight against God.
The council members agreed with what he said,

40 and they called the apostles back in. They had them beaten with a whip and warned them not to speak in the name of Jesus. Then they let them go.
41 The apostles left the council and were happy, because God had considered them worthy to suffer for the sake of Jesus. 42 Every day they spent time in the temple and in one home after another. They never stopped teaching and telling the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.
