1 NJẸ li ọjọ wọnni, nigbati iye awọn ọmọ-ẹhin npọ̀ si i, ikùn-sinu wà ninu awọn Hellene si awọn Heberu, nitoriti a nṣe igbagbé awọn opó wọn ni ipinfunni ojojumọ́. 2 Awọn mejila si pè ọpọlọpọ awọn ọmọ-ẹhin jọ̀ sọdọ, nwọn wipe, Kò yẹ ti awa iba fi ọ̀rọ Ọlọrun silẹ, ki a si mã ṣe iranṣẹ tabili. 3 Nitorina, ará, ẹ wo ọkunrin meje ninu nyin, olorukọ rere, ẹniti o kún fun Ẹmí Mimọ́ ati fun ọgbọ́n, ẹniti awa iba yàn si iṣẹ yi. 4 Ṣugbọn awa o duro ṣinṣin ninu adura igbà, ati ninu iṣẹ iranṣẹ ọ̀rọ na. 5 Ọ̀rọ na si tọ́ loju gbogbo ijọ: nwọn si yàn Stefanu, ọkunrin ti o kún fun igbagbọ́ ati fun Ẹmí Mimọ́, ati Filippi ati Prokoru, ati Nikanoru, ati Timoni, ati Parmena, ati Nikola alawọṣe Ju ara Antioku: 6 Ẹniti nwọn mu duro niwaju awọn aposteli: nigbati nwọn si gbadura, nwọn fi ọwọ́ le wọn.

8 Ati Stefanu, ti o kún fun ore-ọfẹ ati agbara, o ṣe iṣẹ iyanu, ati iṣẹ ami nla lãrin awọn enia. 9 Ṣugbọn awọn kan dide ninu awọn ti sinagogu, ti a npè ni ti awọn Libertine, ati ti ara Kirene, ati ti ara Aleksandria, ati ninu awọn ara Kilikia, ati ti Asia nwọn mba Stefanu jiyàn. 10 Nwọn kò si le kò ọgbọ́n ati ẹmí ti o fi nsọrọ loju. 11 Nigbana ni nwọn bẹ̀ abẹtẹlẹ awọn ọkunrin, ti nwọn nwipe, Awa gbọ́ ọkunrin yi nsọ ọrọ-odi si Mose ati si Ọlọrun. 12 Nwọn si rú awọn enia soke, ati awọn àgbagba, ati awọn akọwe, nwọn dide si i, nwọn gbá a mu, nwọn mu u wá si ajọ igbimọ. 13 Nwọn si mu awọn ẹlẹri eke wá, ti nwọn wipe, ọkunrin yi kò simi lati sọ ọ̀rọ-òdi si ibi mimọ́ yi, ati si ofin: 14 Nitori awa gbọ́ o wipe, Jesu ti Nasareti yi yio fọ́ ibi yi, yio si pa iṣe ti Mose fifun wa dà. 15 Ati gbogbo awọn ti o si joko ni ajọ igbimọ tẹjumọ́ ọ, nwọn nwò oju rẹ̀ bi ẹnipe oju angẹli.
Acts 6
Choosing of the Seven
1 Now at this time while the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint arose on the part of the tHellenistic Jews against the native Hebrews, because their widows were being overlooked in the daily serving of food. 2 So the twelve summoned the congregation of the disciples and said, "It is not desirable for us to neglect the word of God in order to serve tables.3 Therefore, brethren, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task.4 But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word."5 The statement found approval with the whole congregation; and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas and Nicolas, a tproselyte from Antioch.6 And these they brought before the apostles; and after praying, they laid their hands on them.
7 The word of God kept on spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were becoming obedient to the faith.
8 And Stephen, full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and signs among the people.9 But some men from what was called the Synagogue of the Freedmen, including both Cyrenians and Alexandrians, and some from Cilicia and Asia, rose up and argued with Stephen.10 But they were unable to cope with the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking.11 Then they secretly induced men to say, "We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God."12 And they stirred up the people, the elders and the scribes, and they came up to him and dragged him away and brought him before the Council.13 They put forward false witnesses who said, "This man incessantly speaks against this holy place and the Law;14 for we have heard him say that this Nazarene, Jesus, will destroy this place and alter the customs which Moses handed down to us."15 And fixing their gaze on him, all who were sitting in the Council saw his face like the face of an angel.
