تغییر زندگی شائول

(کارهای رسولان 6:22-16؛ 12:26-18)

1 شائول از تهدید و كشتن پیروان خداوند به هیچ نحوی دست بردار نبود. او نزد كاهن اعظم رفت 2 و تقاضای معرّفی ‌نامه‌هایی برای كنیسه‌های دمشق كرد تا چنانچه مرد یا زنی را از اهل طریقت پیدا كند آنها را دستگیر كرده به اورشلیم آورد. 3 شائول هنوز به دمشق نرسیده بود، كه ناگهان نزدیک شهر نوری از آسمان در اطراف او تابید. 4 او به زمین افتاد و صدایی شنید كه می‌گفت: «ای شائول، شائول، چرا بر من جفا می‌کنی؟» 5 شائول پرسید: «خداوندا تو كیستی؟» پاسخ آمد: «من عیسی هستم، همان كسی‌كه تو بر او جفا می‌کنی، 6 ولی برخیز و به شهر برو و در آنجا به تو گفته خواهد شد كه چه باید بكنی.» 7 در این هنگام همسفران شائول خاموش ماندند، زیرا اگرچه صدا را می‌شنیدند، ولی كسی را نمی‌دیدند. 8 پس شائول از زمین برخاست و با اینكه چشمانش باز بود، چیزی نمی‌دید. دستش را گرفتند و او را به دمشق هدایت كردند. 9 در آنجا سه روز نابینا ماند و چیزی نخورد و ننوشید.

10 یكی از ایمانداران به نام حنانیا در شهر دمشق زندگی می‌کرد. خداوند در رؤیا به او ظاهر شد و فرمود: «ای حنانیا.»
او پاسخ داد: «بله ای خداوند، آماده‌ام.»
11 خداوند فرمود: «برخیز و به کوچه‌ای كه آن را 'راست' می‌نامند برو و در خانهٔ یهودا سراغ شخصی به نام شائول طرسوسی را بگیر. او به دعا مشغول است 12 و در رؤیا مردی را دیده است به نام حنانیا كه می‌آید و بر او دست می‌گذارد و بینایی او را باز می‌گرداند.» 13 حنانیا عرض كرد: «خداوندا دربارهٔ این شخص و آن‌همه آزار كه او به قوم تو در اورشلیم رسانیده است، چیزهایی شنیده‌ام 14 و حالا از طرف سران كاهنان اختیار یافته و به اینجا آمده است تا همهٔ كسانی را كه به تو روی می‌آوردند دستگیر كند.» 15 امّا خداوند به او گفت: «تو باید بروی زیرا این شخص وسیله‌ای است كه من انتخاب کرده‌ام تا نام مرا به ملّتها و پادشاهان آنان و قوم اسرائیل اعلام نماید.

16 خود من به او نشان خواهم داد كه چه رنجهای بسیاری به‌خاطر نام من متحمّل خواهد شد.»
17 پس حنانیا رفت، وارد آن خانه شد و دست بر شائول گذاشت و گفت: «ای برادر، ای شائول، خداوند یعنی همان عیسایی كه بین راه به تو ظاهر شد، مرا فرستاده است تا تو بینایی خود را بازیابی و از روح‌القدس پر گردی.» 18 در همان لحظه چیزی مانند پوسته از چشمان شائول افتاد و بینایی خود را بازیافت و برخاسته تعمید گرفت.

19 بعد از آن غذا خورد و قوّت گرفت.

بشارت شائول در دمشق

شائول مدّتی در دمشق با ایمانداران به سر برد 20 و طولی نكشید كه در كنیسه‌های دمشق به طور آشكار اعلام می‌کرد كه عیسی، پسر خداست. 21 هرکس سخنان او را می‌شنید در حیرت می‌افتاد و می‌گفت: «مگر این همان كسی نیست كه در اورشلیم کسانی‌که نام عیسی را به زبان می‌آوردند نابود می‌کرد؟ و آیا منظور او از آمدن به اینجا فقط این نیست كه آنان را بگیرد و به دست سران كاهنان بسپارد؟» 22 امّا قدرت كلام شائول روزبه‌روز بیشتر می‌شد و یهودیان دمشق را با دلایل انكار ناپذیر مجاب می‌ساخت كه عیسی، مسیح موعود است. 23 پس از مدّتی یهودیان توطئه كردند تا او را به قتل برسانند. 24 امّا شائول از نیّت آنان باخبر شد. یهودیان حتّی دروازه‌های شهر را شب و روز تحت نظر داشتند تا او را بكشند،

25 ولی شاگردان او، شبانه او را داخل سبدی گذاشتند و از دیوار شهر او را به پایین فرستادند.

شائول در اورشلیم

26 وقتی شائول به اورشلیم رسید سعی نمود به سایر شاگردان عیسی بپیوندد، امّا آنان از او می‌ترسیدند، زیرا قبول نمی‌كردند كه او واقعاً پیرو عیسی شده باشد. 27 به هر حال برنابا او را برداشت و به حضور رسولان آورد و برای ایشان شرح داد، كه چگونه او در راه دمشق خداوند را دیده و چطور خداوند با او سخن گفته و به چه ترتیب شائول در دمشق بی‌باكانه به نام عیسی وعظ كرده است. 28 به این ترتیب شائول در اورشلیم با آنان رفت و آمد پیدا كرد و آشكارا بدون ترس به نام خداوند موعظه می‌کرد 29 و با یهودیان یونانی زبان مباحثه و گفت‌وگو می‌نمود به طوری ‌كه آنان قصد جان او را داشتند. 30 وقتی ایماندران از این موضوع آگاه شدند شائول را به قیصریه رسانیدند و او را روانهٔ طرسوس كردند.

31 به این ‌ترتیب كلیسا در سراسر یهودیه و جلیل و سامره آرامش یافت. در حالی‌كه آنان در خداترسی و تقویت روح‌القدس به سر می‌بردند، كلیسا از لحاظ نیرو و تعداد رشد می‌کرد.

پطرس در لِده و یافا

32 پطرس از همه‌جا دیدن می‌کرد و یک‌بار نیز به دیدن مقدّسین مقیم لده رفت. 33 در آنجا شخصی را به نام اینیاس كه به مدّت هشت سال مفلوج و بستری بود، دید. 34 پطرس به او گفت: «ای اینیاس، عیسی مسیح تو را شفا می‌بخشد. بلند شو و رختخواب خود را جمع كن.» او فوراً از جا برخاست 35 و جمیع ساكنان لده و شارون او را دیدند و به خداوند روی آوردند. 36 در یافا یكی از ایمانداران كه زنی به نام طبیتا بود زندگی می‌کرد (ترجمه یونانی نام او دوركاس به معنی آهوست.) این زن كه بسیار نیكوكار و بخشنده بود 37 در این زمان بیمار شد و فوت كرد. او را غسل دادند و در بالاخانه‌ای گذاشتند. 38 ایمانداران كه شنیده بودند، پطرس در لده است، به سبب نزدیكی لده به یافا دو نفر را نزد او فرستادند و تقاضا نمودند: «هرچه زودتر خود را به ما برسان.» 39 پطرس بی‌درنگ به اتّفاق آنان حركت كرد و همین‌که به آنجا رسید، او را به بالا خانه بردند. بیوه‌زنان گریه‌كنان دور او را گرفتند و همهٔ پیراهن‌ها و لباسهایی را كه دوركاس در زمان حیات خود دوخته بود به او نشان دادند. 40 پطرس همهٔ آنان را از اتاق بیرون كرد. سپس زانو زد و دعا نمود و رو به جسد كرده گفت: «ای طبیتا برخیز.» او چشمان خود را گشود و وقتی پطرس را دید راست نشست. 41 پطرس دست خود را به او داد و او را روی پا بلند كرد. سپس مقدّسین و بیوه‌زنان را صدا زد و او را زنده به ایشان سپرد. 42 این موضوع در سراسر یافا منتشر شد و بسیاری به خداوند ایمان آوردند. 43 پطرس روزهای زیادی در یافا ماند و با شمعون دباغ زندگی می‌کرد.

ACTS 9

Saul Becomes a Follower //of the Lord

(Acts 22.6-16; 26.12-18)

1 Saul kept on threatening to kill the Lord's followers. He even went to the high priest 2 and asked for letters to the leaders of the synagogues in Damascus. He did this because he wanted to arrest and take to Jerusalem any man or woman who had accepted the Lord's Way.t 3 When Saul had almost reached Damascus, a bright light from heaven suddenly flashed around him.

4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying, “Saul! Saul! Why are you so cruel to me?”

5 “Who are you?” Saul asked.
“I am Jesus,” the Lord answered. “I am the one you are so cruel to.

6 Now get up and go into the city, where you will be told what to do.”
7  t The men with Saul stood there speechless. They had heard the voice, but they had not seen anyone. 8 Saul got up from the ground, and when he opened his eyes, he could not see a thing. Someone then led him by the hand to Damascus,

9 and for three days he was blind and did not eat or drink.

10 A follower named Ananias lived in Damascus, and the Lord spoke to him in a vision. Ananias answered, “Lord, here I am.”
11 The Lord said to him, “Get up and go to the house of Judas on Straight Street. When you get there, you will find a man named Saul from the city of Tarsus. Saul is praying,

12 and he has seen a vision. He saw a man named Ananias coming to him and putting his hands on him, so he could see again.”
13 Ananias replied, “Lord, a lot of people have told me about the terrible things this man has done to your followers in Jerusalem.

14 Now the chief priests have given him the power to come here and arrest anyone who worships in your name.”
15 The Lord said to Ananias, “Go! I have chosen him to tell foreigners, kings, and the people of Israel about me.

16 I will show him how much he must suffer for worshiping in my name.”

17 Ananias left and went into the house where Saul was staying. Ananias placed his hands on him and said, “Saul, the Lord Jesus has sent me. He is the same one who appeared to you along the road. He wants you to be able to see and to be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
18  t Suddenly something like fish scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see. He got up and was baptized.

19 Then he ate and felt much better.

Saul Preaches in Damascus

For several days Saul stayed with the Lord's followers in Damascus. 20 Soon he went to the synagogues and started telling people that Jesus is the Son of God.

21 Everyone who heard Saul was amazed and said, “Isn't this the man who caused so much trouble for those people in Jerusalem who worship in the name of Jesus? Didn't he come here to arrest them and take them to the chief priests?”

22 Saul preached with such power that he completely confused the Jewish people in Damascus, as he tried to show them that Jesus is the Messiah.
23  t Later some of them made plans to kill Saul, 24 but he found out about it. He learned that they were guarding the gates of the city day and night in order to kill him.

25 Then one night his followers let him down over the city wall in a large basket.

Saul in Jerusalem

26 When Saul arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to join the followers. But they were all afraid of him, because they did not believe he was a true follower.

27 Then Barnabas helped him by taking him to the apostles. He explained how Saul had seen the Lord and how the Lord had spoken to him. Barnabas also said when Saul was in Damascus, he had spoken bravely in the name of Jesus.
28 Saul moved about freely with the followers in Jerusalem and told everyone about the Lord. 29 He was always arguing with the Jews who spoke Greek, and so they tried to kill him.

30 But the followers found out about this and took Saul to Caesarea. From there they sent him to the city of Tarsus.

31 The church in Judea, Galilee, and Samaria now had a time of peace and kept on worshiping the Lord. The church became stronger, as the Holy Spirit encouraged it and helped it grow.

Peter Heals Aeneas

32 While Peter was traveling from place to place, he visited the Lord's followers who lived in the town of Lydda. 33 There he met a man named Aeneas, who for eight years had been sick in bed and could not move.

34 Peter said to Aeneas, “Jesus Christ has healed you! Get up and make up your bed.”t At once he stood up.

35 Many people in the towns of Lydda and Sharon saw Aeneas and became followers of the Lord.

Peter Brings Dorcas //Back to Life

36 In Joppa there was a follower named Tabitha. Her Greek name was Dorcas, which means “deer.” She was always doing good things for people and had given much to the poor. 37 But she got sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room. 38 Joppa wasn't far from Lydda, and the followers heard that Peter was there. They sent two men to say to him, “Please come with us as quickly as you can!”

39 At once, Peter went with them.
The men took Peter upstairs into the room. Many widows were there crying. They showed him the coats and clothes that Dorcas had made while she was still alive.
40 After Peter had sent everyone out of the room, he knelt down and prayed. Then he turned to the body of Dorcas and said, “Tabitha, get up!” The woman opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

41 He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet.
Peter called in the widows and the other followers and showed them that Dorcas had been raised from death. 42 Everyone in Joppa heard what had happened, and many of them put their faith in the Lord. 43 Peter stayed on for a while in Joppa in the house of a man named Simon, who made leather.
