Conversión de Saulo

1 Saulo seguía amenazando y promoviendo actos de violencia y muerte contra los seguidores del Señor. Entonces fue al sumo sacerdotet2 y le pidió cartas de autorización para las sinagogast de Damasco. Si Saulo encontraba a algún seguidor del Caminot, hombre o mujer, lo podía arrestar y llevar preso a Jerusalén.3 Cuando estaba cerca de la ciudad de Damasco, lo rodeó de repente una luz muy brillante del cielo.

4 Saulo cayó al suelo y escuchó una voz que le decía:
—Saulo, Saulo, ¿por qué me persigues?

5 Saulo preguntó:
—¿Quién eres, Señor?
La voz le contestó:
—Soy Jesús, a quien tú persigues.

6 Levántate y vete a la ciudad. Allí se te dirá qué tienes que hacer.
7 Los hombres que viajaban con Saulo estaban ahí, sin poder decir ni una sola palabra. Oían la voz pero no veían a nadie.8 Saulo se levantó del suelo, pero cuando abrió los ojos no veía nada. Entonces lo llevaron de la mano a Damasco.

9 Estuvo allí tres días sin ver y no comió ni bebió nada.

10 En Damasco había un seguidor llamado Ananías. El Señor le dijo en una visión:
—Ananías.
Y él le respondió:
—Aquí estoy, Señor.

11 El Señor le dijo:
—Levántate, ve a la calle Derecha y busca la casa de un hombre llamado Judas. Allí pregunta por Saulo de Tarso. Él está orando y

12 tuvo una visión donde un hombre llamado Ananías se le acerca y le impone las manos para que recobre la vista.

13 Ananías le respondió:
—Señor, muchos me han contado todo el mal que él ha hecho en Jerusalén contra tu pueblo santot.

14 Ahora Saulo ha venido aquí con poderes de los jefes de los sacerdotes para arrestar a todo el que confía en ti.

15 Pero el Señor le dijo:
—¡Ve! Yo elegí a Saulo para la misión de dar a conocer mi mensaje ante reyes, israelitas y gente de otras naciones.

16 Yo mismo le mostraré a Saulo todo lo que tendrá que sufrir por mi causa.
17 Entonces Ananías se fue a la casa de Judas e imponiéndole las manos a Saulo, le dijo: «Hermano Saulo, el Señor Jesús me envió. Fue el que se te apareció cuando venías para acá. Me mandó para que puedas ver de nuevo y te llenes del Espíritu Santo».18 De inmediato, algo que parecía escamas cayó de sus ojos y recobró la vista. Saulo se levantó y fue bautizadot.

19 Luego comió y recuperó las fuerzas.

Saulo en Damasco

20 Enseguida entró en las sinagogast a proclamar que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios.21 Todos los que lo escuchaban se asombraban y decían: «¿No es este el mismo que en Jerusalén perseguía a muerte a los que confían en Jesús? ¿Acaso no vino a arrestar a los seguidores de aquí y a llevarlos ante los jefes de los sacerdotes?»

22 Sin embargo, las palabras de Saulo eran tan bien argumentadas que confundía a los judíos que vivían en Damasco. Ellos no lo podían contradecir cuando él afirmaba que Jesús es el Mesíast.

Saulo escapa de Damasco

23 Después de muchos días, los judíos hicieron planes para matar a Saulo.24 De día y de noche vigilaban las puertas de la ciudad porque querían matarlo, pero Saulo se enteró del plan.

25 Sus seguidores lo bajaron en un canasto por la muralla que rodeaba la ciudad.

Saulo en Jerusalén

26 Saulo se fue a Jerusalén y trató de reunirse con los seguidores, pero todos le tenían miedo y no creían que fuera un seguidor.27 Pero Bernabé apoyó a Saulo y lo trajo a los apóstoles. Les explicó que Saulo había visto al Señor en el camino y que el Señor le había hablado. También les contó que en Damasco, Saulo había hablado valientemente en el nombre de Jesús.28 Entonces Saulo se quedó en Jerusalén con los seguidores. Estando ahí, hablaba abiertamente en el nombre del Señor.29 Conversaba y discutía con los judíos que hablaban griego, pero ellos intentaban acabar con él.

30 Cuando los hermanos se enteraron de esto, lo llevaron a la ciudad de Cesarea y de ahí lo mandaron a Tarso.

31 Así que la iglesiat disfrutó de paz por toda Judea, Galilea y Samaria. Se fortalecía y progresaba, viviendo de una manera que mostraba mucho respeto por el Señor. La iglesia crecía animada por el Espíritu Santo.

Milagros de Pedro en Lida y Jope

32 Pedro recorría toda la región y fue a ver a los santost que vivían en Lida.33 Allí conoció a un paralítico llamado Eneas, que llevaba ocho años en cama.

34 Pedro le dijo:
—Eneas, Jesucristo te sana. Levántate y tiende tu cama.
Inmediatamente Eneas se levantó.

35 Todos los que vivían en Lida y en Sarón lo vieron y decidieron seguir al Señor.
36 En la ciudad de Jope había una seguidora llamada Tabita, que en griego es Dorcas. Ella siempre hacía buenas obras y daba dinero a los necesitados.37 Mientras Pedro estaba en Lida, ella se enfermó y murió. Lavaron su cuerpo y la llevaron a una habitación de arriba.

38 Los seguidores que vivían en Jope escucharon que Pedro estaba en Lida, cerca de Jope. Entonces mandaron dos hombres para que hablaran con Pedro. Le rogaron: «¡Venga usted con nosotros, rápido!»
39 Pedro se fue con ellos y al llegar lo llevaron arriba a la habitación. Todas las viudas rodearon a Pedro llorando y le mostraron las túnicas que Dorcas había hecho cuando estaba con vida.

40 Pedro sacó de la habitación a todos, se arrodilló y oró. Luego, volviéndose hacia el cuerpo de ella, le dijo:
—Tabita, ¡levántate!
Ella abrió los ojos y cuando vio a Pedro, se sentó.41 Pedro extendió la mano y la levantó. Entonces llamó a los santos y a las viudas para que vinieran a la habitación, y presentó viva a Tabita.42 Esto se supo en toda la ciudad de Jope y mucha gente creyó en el Señor.

43 Pedro se quedó en Jope muchos días en casa de un curtidor llamado Simón.

Acts 9

The Conversion of Saul

1 Now Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,2 and asked for letters from him to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, both men and women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.3 As he was traveling, it happened that he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him;4 and he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"5 And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" And He said, "I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,6 but get up and enter the city, and it will be told you what you must do."7 The men who traveled with him stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one.8 Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were open, he could see nothing; and leading him by the hand, they brought him into Damascus.9 And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.

10 Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and the Lord said to him in a vision, "Ananias." And he said, "Here I am, Lord."11 And the Lord said to him, "Get up and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying,12 and he has seen tin a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him, so that he might regain his sight."13 But Ananias answered, "Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he did to Your saints at Jerusalem;14 and here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name."15 But the Lord said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen tinstrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel;16 for I will show him how much he must suffer for My name's sake."17 So Ananias departed and entered the house, and after laying his hands on him said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit."18 And immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he regained his sight, and he got up and was baptized;

19 and he took food and was strengthened.
Now for several days he was with the disciples who were at Damascus,

Saul Begins to Preach Christ

20 and immediately he began to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues, saying, "He is the Son of God."21 All those hearing him continued to be amazed, and were saying, "Is this not he who in Jerusalem destroyed those who called on this name, and who had come here for the purpose of bringing them bound before the chief priests?"22 But Saul kept increasing in strength and confounding the Jews who lived at Damascus by proving that this Jesus is the Christ.

23 When many days had elapsed, the Jews plotted together to do away with him,24 but their plot became known to Saul. They were also watching the gates day and night so that they might put him to death;25 but his disciples took him by night and let him down through an opening in the wall, lowering him in a large basket.

26 When he came to Jerusalem, he was trying to associate with the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.27 But Barnabas took hold of him and brought him to the apostles and described to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had talked to him, and how at Damascus he had spoken out boldly in the name of Jesus.28 And he was with them, moving about freely in Jerusalem, speaking out boldly in the name of the Lord.29 And he was talking and arguing with the Hellenistic Jews; but they were attempting to put him to death.30 But when the brethren learned of it, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him away to Tarsus.

31 So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase.

Peter's Ministry

32 Now as Peter was traveling through all those regions, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda.33 There he found a man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years, for he was paralyzed.34 Peter said to him, "Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you; get up and make your bed." Immediately he got up.35 And all who lived at Lydda and Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord.

36 Now in Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (which translated in Greek is called Dorcas); this woman was abounding with deeds of kindness and charity which she continually did.37 And it happened at that time that she fell sick and died; and when they had washed her body, they laid it in an upper room.38 Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, having heard that Peter was there, sent two men to him, imploring him, "Do not delay in coming to us."39 So Peter arose and went with them. When he arrived, they brought him into the upper room; and all the widows stood beside him, weeping and showing all the ttunics and garments that Dorcas used to make while she was with them.40 But Peter sent them all out and knelt down and prayed, and turning to the body, he said, "Tabitha, arise." And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.41 And he gave her his hand and raised her up; and calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.42 It became known all over Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.43 And Peter stayed many days in Joppa with a tanner named Simon.
