Malachi 3
1 Behold, I send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant, whom ye desire, behold, he cometh, saith Jehovah of hosts.2 But who can abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fuller’s soap:3 and he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi, and refine them as gold and silver; and they shall offer unto Jehovah offerings in righteousness.4 Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto Jehovah, as in the days of old, and as in ancient years.5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against the false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the sojourner from his right, and fear not me, saith Jehovah of hosts.6 For I, Jehovah, change not; therefore ye, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.7 From the days of your fathers ye have turned aside from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith Jehovah of hosts. But ye say, Wherein shall we return?8 Will a man rob God? yet ye rob me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.9 Ye are cursed with the curse; for ye rob me, even this whole nation.10 Bring ye the whole tithe into the store-house, that there may be food in my house, and prove me now herewith, saith Jehovah of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast its fruit before the time in the field, saith Jehovah of hosts.12 And all nations shall call you happy; for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith Jehovah of hosts.13 Your words have been stout against me, saith Jehovah. Yet ye say, What have we spoken against thee?14 Ye have said, It is vain to serve God; and what profit is it that we have kept his charge, and that we have walked mournfully before Jehovah of hosts?15 And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are built up; yea, they tempt God, and escape.16 Then they that feared Jehovah spake one with another; and Jehovah hearkened, and heard, and a book of remembrance was written before him, for them that feared Jehovah, and that thought upon his name.17 And they shall be mine, saith Jehovah of hosts, even mine own possession, in the day that I make; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.18 Then shall ye return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
Malachi 4
1 For, behold, the day cometh, it burneth as a furnace; and all the proud, and all that work wickedness, shall be stubble; and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith Jehovah of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.2 But unto you that fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings; and ye shall go forth, and gambol as calves of the stall.3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I make, saith Jehovah of hosts.4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, even statutes and ordinances.5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of Jehovah come.6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers; lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
Matthew 1
1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judah and his brethren;3 and Judah begat Perez and Zerah of Tamar; and Perez begat Hezron; and Hezron begat Ram;4 and Ram begat Amminadab; and Amminadab begat Nahshon; and Nahshon begat Salmon;5 and Salmon begat Boaz of Rahab; and Boaz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;6 and Jesse begat David the king.
7 and Solomon begat Rehoboam; and Rehoboam begat Abijah; and Abijah begat Asa;8 and Asa begat Jehoshaphat; and Jehoshaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Uzziah;9 and Uzziah begat Jotham; and Jotham begat Ahaz; and Ahaz begat Hezekiah;10 and Hezekiah begat Manasseh; and Manasseh begat Amon; and Amon begat Josiah;11 and Josiah begat Jechoniah and his brethren, at the time of the carrying away to Babylon.
12 And after the carrying away to Babylon, Jechoniah begat Shealtiel; and Shealtiel begat Zerubbabel;13 and Zerubbabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;14 and Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;15 and Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;16 and Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 So all the generations from Abraham unto David are fourteen generations; and from David unto the carrying away to Babylon fourteen generations; and from the carrying away to Babylon unto the Christ fourteen generations.
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.19 And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.20 But when he thought on these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.21 And she shall bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name JESUS; for it is he that shall save his people from their sins.22 Now all this is come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,23 Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son,
24 And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took unto him his wife;25 and knew her not till she had brought forth a son: and he called his name JESUS.
