Introducción (1.1-8)
Saludo
1 Pablo, apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios, junto con el hermano Timoteo,t
2 a nuestros fieles hermanost en Cristo, los que en la ciudad de Colosast forman parte del pueblo santo. Que Dios nuestro Padre derrame su gracia y su paz sobre vosotros.Acción de gracias
3 Siempre que oramos por vosotros damos gracias a Dios, Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, 4 pues hemos recibido noticias de vuestra fe en Cristo Jesús y de vuestro amor para con todos los que pertenecen al pueblo santo,t 5 amor basado en la esperanza de lo que Dios os ha reservado en el cielo.t Vosotros alcanzasteis esta esperanza al escuchar el mensaje verdadero del evangelio. 6 Este mensaje que os fue predicado está creciendo y dando fruto en todo el mundo,t igual que ha sucedido entre vosotros desde que oísteis hablar del amor de Dios y supisteis que ese amor es verdadero. 7 Esto os enseñó nuestro querido Epafras,t que ha trabajado con nosotros y en quien tenéist un fiel servidor de Cristo.
8 Él nos ha traído noticias del amor que el Espíritu os inspira.t1. La acción salvadora de Dios (1.9-23)
9 Por esta razón, nosotros, desde el día en que lo supimos, no hemos dejado de orar por vosotros y de pedir a Dios que os haga conocer plenamente su voluntad, y que os dé toda clase de sabiduría y entendimiento espiritual.t 10 Así podréis portaros como deben hacerlo los que pertenecen al Señor,t haciendo siempre lo que le agrada, dando frutos de toda clase de buenas obras y llegando a conocer mejor a Dios. 11 Le pedimos que con su glorioso poder os haga fuertes; así podréis soportarlo todo con mucha fortaleza y paciencia, y con alegría 12 daréis gracias al Padre, que os ha preparadot para recibir en la luzt aquella parte de la herenciat que reserva a quienes pertenecen al pueblo santo. 13 Dios nos ha librado del poder de la oscuridadt y nos ha llevado al reino de su amado Hijo,t
14 por quien hemos recibido la liberaciónt y el perdón de los pecados.tLa paz con Dios por medio de la muerte de Cristo
15 Cristot es la imagen visible de Dios, que es invisible; es su Hijo primogénito, anterior a todo lo creado.t 16 Por medio de él creó Dios todo cuanto hay en el cielo y en la tierra, lo visible y lo invisible, y también los seres espirituales que poseen dominio, autoridad y poder.t Todo fue creado por medio de él y para él.t 17 Cristo existe antes de todas las cosas, y por él se mantiene todo en orden.t 18 Además, Cristo es la cabeza del cuerpot que es la iglesia. Él, que es el principio, fue el primero de los que han de resucitar, para tener así el primer puesto en todo.t 19 Dios quiso habitar plenamente en Cristo,t
20 y por medio de Cristo quiso poner en paz consigo mismo al universo entero, tanto lo que está en la tierra como lo que está en el cielo,t haciendo la paz mediante la sangre que Cristo derramó en la cruz.tConsecuencias de la acción salvadora
21 Vosotros erais antes extranjeros y enemigost de Dios en vuestro corazón, por las cosas malas que hacíais, 22 pero ahora Cristo os ha reconciliadot mediante la muerte que padeció en su cuerpo. Y lo hizo para que estéis en su presencia, santos, sin mancha y sin culpa.t
23 Pero para esto debéis permanecer firmemente fundados en la fe, sin apartaros de la esperanza contenida en el mensaje del evangelio que oísteis. Este es el mensaje que se ha anunciado por todas partes en el mundo, y que yo, Pablo, ayudo a predicar.t2. La misión de Pablo (1.24–2.5)
24 Ahora me alegro de lo que sufro por vosotros, porque de esta manera voy completando en mi propio cuerpo lo que falta de los sufrimientos de Cristot por la iglesia, que es su cuerpo. 25 Dios ha hecho de mí un servidor de la iglesia, por el encargo que me dio para bien vuestrot de anunciar en forma completa su mensaje, 26 es decir, el designio secreto que desde hace siglos y generaciones tenía Dios escondido, pero que ahora ha manifestado a los suyos.t
27 A estos, Dios les quiso dar a conocer la gloriosa riqueza que ese designio encierra para los no judíos. Y ese designio secreto es Cristo, que habita en vosotrost y que es la esperanza de la gloria que habéis de recibir.t
28 Nosotros anunciamos a Cristo, aconsejando y enseñando a todos en toda sabiduría para presentarlos perfectos en Cristo.t 29 Para esto trabajo y lucho con toda la fuerza y el poder que él me da.t
Colossians 1
Salutation
1 From Paul,t an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,
2 to the saints, the faithfult brothers and sisterst in Christ, at Colossae. Grace and peace to yout from God our Father!s
Paul’s Thanksgiving and Prayer for the Church
3 We alwayst give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,4 sincet we heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you have for all the saints.5 Your faith and love have arisent from the hope laid upt for you in heaven, which you have heard about in the message of truth, the gospelt6 that has come to you. Just as in the entire world this gospelt is bearing fruit and growing, so it has also been bearing fruit and growingt among you from the first day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth.7 You learned the gospelt from Epaphras, our dear fellow slavet – at faithful minister of Christ on ours behalf –
8 who also told us of your love in the Spirit.
Paul’s Prayer for the Growth of the Church
9 For this reason we also, from the day we heard about you,t have not ceased praying for you and asking Godt to fillt you with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,10 so that you may livet worthily of the Lord and please him in all respectst – bearing fruit in every good deed, growing in the knowledge of God,11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might for the display oft all patience and steadfastness, joyfully12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified you to sharet in the saints’t inheritance in the light.13 He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son he loves,t
14 in whom we have redemption,s the forgiveness of sins.
The Supremacy of Christ
15 s He is the image of the invisible God, the firstbornt over all creation,t
16 for all things in heaven and on earth were created by him – all things, whether visible or invisible, whether thrones or dominions,t whether principalities or powers – all things were created through him and for him.
17 He himself is before all things and all things are held togethert in him.
18 He is the head of the body, the church, as well as the beginning, the firstbornt from among the dead, so that he himself may become first in all things.t
19 For Godt was pleased to have all hist fullness dwellt in the Sont
20 and through him to reconcile all things to himself by making peace through the blood of his cross – through him,s whether things on earth or things in heaven.
Paul’s Goal in Ministry
21 And you were at one time strangers and enemies in yourt mindst as expressed throught your evil deeds,22 but now he has reconciled youst by his physical body through death to present you holy, without blemish, and blameless before him –
23 if indeed you remain in the faith, established and firm,t without shiftingt from the hope of the gospel that you heard. This gospel has also been preached in all creation under heaven, and I, Paul, have become its servant.
24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for you, and I fill up in my physical body – for the sake of his body, the church – what is lacking in the sufferings of Christ.25 I became a servant of the church according to the stewardshipt from God – given to me for you – in order to completet the word of God,26 that is, the mystery that has been kept hidden from ages and generations, but has now been revealed to his saints.27 God wanted to make known to them the glorioust riches of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.28 We proclaim him by instructingt and teachingt all peoplet with all wisdom so that we may present every person maturet in Christ.
29 Toward this goalt I also labor, struggling according to his power that powerfullyt works in me.
