Kolosser 1

1 Paulus, Apostel Christi Jesu durch Gottes Willen, und Timotheus, der Bruder,2 den heiligen und treuen Brüdern in Christo, die in Kolossä sind: Gnade euch und Friede von Gott, unserem Vater, und dem Herrn Jesus Christus !3 Wir danken dem Gott und Vater unseres Herrn Jesus Christus allezeit, indem wir für euch beten,4 nachdem wir gehört haben von eurem Glauben in Christo Jesu und der Liebe, die ihr zu allen Heiligen habt,5 wegen der Hoffnung, die für euch aufgehoben ist in den Himmeln, von welcher ihr zuvor gehört habt in dem Worte der Wahrheit des Evangeliums,6 das zu euch gekommen, so wie es auch in der ganzen Welt ist, und ist fruchtbringend und wachsend, wie auch unter euch, von dem Tage an, da ihr es gehört und die Gnade Gottes in Wahrheit erkannt habt;7 so wie ihr gelernt habt von Epaphras, unserem geliebten Mitknecht, der ein treuer Diener des Christus für euch ist,8 der uns auch eure Liebe im Geiste kundgetan hat.9 Deshalb hören auch wir nicht auf, von dem Tage an, da wir es gehört haben, für euch zu beten und zu bitten, auf daß ihr erfüllt sein möget mit der Erkenntnis seines Willens in aller Weisheit und geistlichem Verständnis,10 um würdig des Herrn zu wandeln zu allem Wohlgefallen, in jedem guten Werke fruchtbringend, und wachsend durch die Erkenntnis Gottes,11 gekräftigt mit aller Kraft nach der Macht seiner Herrlichkeit, zu allem Ausharren und aller Langmut mit Freuden;12 danksagend dem Vater, der uns fähig gemacht hat zu dem Anteil am Erbe der Heiligen in dem Lichte,13 der uns errettet hat aus der Gewalt der Finsternis und versetzt in das Reich des Sohnes seiner Liebe,14 in welchem wir die Erlösung haben, die Vergebung der Sünden;15 welcher das Bild des unsichtbaren Gottes ist, der Erstgeborene aller Schöpfung.16 Denn durch ihn sind alle Dinge geschaffen worden, die in den Himmeln und die auf der Erde, die sichtbaren und die unsichtbaren, es seien Throne oder Herrschaften oder Fürstentümer oder Gewalten: alle Dinge sind durch ihn und für ihn geschaffen.17 Und er ist vor allen, und alle Dinge bestehen zusammen durch ihn.18 Und er ist das Haupt des Leibes, der Versammlung, welcher der Anfang ist, der Erstgeborene aus den Toten, auf daß er in allem den Vorrang habe;19 denn es war das Wohlgefallen der ganzen Fülle, in ihm zu wohnen20 und durch ihn alle Dinge mit sich zu versöhnen indem er Frieden gemacht hat durch das Blut seines Kreuzes, durch ihn, es seien die Dinge auf der Erde oder die Dinge in den Himmeln.21 Und euch, die ihr einst entfremdet und Feinde waret nach der Gesinnung in den bösen Werken, hat er aber nun versöhnt22 in dem Leibe seines Fleisches durch den Tod, um euch heilig und tadellos und unsträflich vor sich hinzustellen,23 wenn ihr anders in dem Glauben gegründet und fest bleibet und nicht abbewegt werdet von der Hoffnung des Evangeliums, welches ihr gehört habt, das gepredigt worden in der ganzen Schöpfung, die unter dem Himmel ist, dessen Diener ich, Paulus, geworden bin.24 Jetzt freue ich mich in den Leiden für euch und ergänze in meinem Fleische, was noch rückständig ist von den Drangsalen des Christus für seinen Leib, das ist die Versammlung,25 deren Diener ich geworden bin nach der Verwaltung Gottes, die mir in Bezug auf euch gegeben ist, um das Wort Gottes zu vollenden:26 das Geheimnis, welches von den Zeitaltern und von den Geschlechtern her verborgen war, jetzt aber seinen Heiligen geoffenbart worden ist,27 denen Gott kundtun wollte, welches der Reichtum der Herrlichkeit dieses Geheimnisses sei unter den Nationen, welches ist Christus in euch, die Hoffnung der Herrlichkeit;28 den wir verkündigen, indem wir jeden Menschen ermahnen und jeden Menschen lehren in aller Weisheit, auf daß wir jeden Menschen vollkommen in Christo darstellen;29 wozu ich mich auch bemühe, indem ich kämpfend ringe gemäß seiner Wirksamkeit, die in mir wirkt in Kraft.

Colossians 1

Salutation

1 From Paul,t an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

2 to the saints, the faithfult brothers and sisterst in Christ, at Colossae. Grace and peace to yout from God our Father!s

Paul’s Thanksgiving and Prayer for the Church

3 We alwayst give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,4 sincet we heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you have for all the saints.5 Your faith and love have arisent from the hope laid upt for you in heaven, which you have heard about in the message of truth, the gospelt6 that has come to you. Just as in the entire world this gospelt is bearing fruit and growing, so it has also been bearing fruit and growingt among you from the first day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth.7 You learned the gospelt from Epaphras, our dear fellow slavet – at faithful minister of Christ on ours behalf –

8 who also told us of your love in the Spirit.

Paul’s Prayer for the Growth of the Church

9 For this reason we also, from the day we heard about you,t have not ceased praying for you and asking Godt to fillt you with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,10 so that you may livet worthily of the Lord and please him in all respectst – bearing fruit in every good deed, growing in the knowledge of God,11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might for the display oft all patience and steadfastness, joyfully12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified you to sharet in the saints’t inheritance in the light.13 He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son he loves,t

14 in whom we have redemption,s the forgiveness of sins.

The Supremacy of Christ

15 s He is the image of the invisible God, the firstbornt over all creation,t

16 for all things in heaven and on earth were created by him – all things, whether visible or invisible, whether thrones or dominions,t whether principalities or powers – all things were created through him and for him.

17 He himself is before all things and all things are held togethert in him.

18 He is the head of the body, the church, as well as the beginning, the firstbornt from among the dead, so that he himself may become first in all things.t

19 For Godt was pleased to have all hist fullness dwellt in the Sont

20 and through him to reconcile all things to himself by making peace through the blood of his cross – through him,s whether things on earth or things in heaven.

Paul’s Goal in Ministry

21 And you were at one time strangers and enemies in yourt mindst as expressed throught your evil deeds,22 but now he has reconciled youst by his physical body through death to present you holy, without blemish, and blameless before him –

23 if indeed you remain in the faith, established and firm,t without shiftingt from the hope of the gospel that you heard. This gospel has also been preached in all creation under heaven, and I, Paul, have become its servant.
24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for you, and I fill up in my physical body – for the sake of his body, the church – what is lacking in the sufferings of Christ.25 I became a servant of the church according to the stewardshipt from God – given to me for you – in order to completet the word of God,26 that is, the mystery that has been kept hidden from ages and generations, but has now been revealed to his saints.27 God wanted to make known to them the glorioust riches of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.28 We proclaim him by instructingt and teachingt all peoplet with all wisdom so that we may present every person maturet in Christ.

29 Toward this goalt I also labor, struggling according to his power that powerfullyt works in me.
