Anschrift und Gruß

1 tPaulus, ein Apostel Jesu Christi, von Gott berufen, und sein Mitarbeiter Timotheus2 senden diesen Brief an die Brüder und Schwestern in Kolossä, die zu Gott gehören und mit denen wir im Glauben verbunden sind. Wir wünschen euch Gnade und Frieden von Gott, unserem Vater.

Wir beten für euch

3 tJedes Mal wenn wir für euch beten, danken wir Gott, dem Vater unseres Herrn Jesus Christus.4 Wir haben von eurem Glauben an Jesus Christus gehört und davon, wie ihr allen Christen in Liebe verbunden seid.5 tDazu seid ihr fähig, weil ihr wisst, dass sich eure Hoffnung im Himmel erfüllen wird. Von dieser Hoffnung habt ihr gehört, als man euch das Wort der Wahrheit, die rettende Botschaft von Jesus Christus, verkündete.

6 tDiese Botschaft wird nicht nur bei euch, sondern auch in der ganzen Welt verbreitet. Immer mehr Menschen hören sie, nehmen sie an, und so trägt sie reiche Frucht. Auch bei euch ist es vom ersten Tag an so gewesen, als ihr erkannt habt, wie barmherzig Gott ist.7 tEuch brachte unser lieber Mitarbeiter Epaphras diese rettende Botschaft. Wir wissen, dass er Christus dient und dass er euch ein treuer und guter Lehrer war.8 Er hat uns auch davon berichtet, welche Liebe untereinander der Geist Gottes in euch geweckt hat.

9 tSeitdem haben wir nicht aufgehört, für euch zu beten und Gott darum zu bitten, dass ihr seinen Willen erkennt und sein Geist euch mit Weisheit und Einsicht erfüllt.10 Dann nämlich könnt ihr so leben, dass der Herr dadurch geehrt wird. Er hat Gefallen daran, wenn ihr immer mehr Gutes tut. Ihr sollt ihn immer besser kennen lernen

11-12 tund seine göttliche Kraft erfahren, damit ihr geduldig und ausdauernd euren Weg gehen könnt.
Ihr habt wirklich allen Grund, Gott, dem Vater, voll Freude dafür zu danken, dass ihr einmal mit allen anderen Christen bei ihm sein dürft, in seinem Reich des Lichts.13 tEr hat uns aus der Gewalt der Finsternis befreit, und nun leben wir in der neuen Welt seines geliebten Sohnes Jesus Christus.14 tDurch ihn sind wir erlöst, unsere Sünden sind vergeben.

Christus, der Ursprung allen Lebens

15 ttChristus ist das Ebenbild des unsichtbaren Gottes, er war als Erster vor Beginn der Schöpfung da.

16 tDurch ihn ist alles erschaffen, was im Himmel und auf der Erde ist: Sichtbares und Unsichtbares, Königreiche und Mächte, Herrscher und Gewalten. Alles ist durch ihn und für ihn geschaffen.

17 Denn Christus war vor allem anderen; und alles besteht durch ihn.

18 tEr ist das Haupt der Gemeinde, die sein Leib ist. Er ist der Ursprung allen Lebens, der auch als Erster von den Toten zu neuem Leben auferstand, damit er in jeder Hinsicht der Erste sei.

19 tDenn Gott hat beschlossen, mit seiner ganzen Fülle in ihm zu wohnen.

20 Alles im Himmel und auf der Erde sollte durch Christus mit Gott wieder versöhnt werden, alles hat Frieden gefunden, als er am Kreuz sein Blut vergoss.

21 tAuch ihr wart einmal weit weg von Gott, ihr wart seine Feinde durch alles Böse, das ihr gedacht und getan habt.22 Durch seinen Tod hat euch Christus mit Gott versöhnt. Jetzt steht ihr ohne Sünde und ohne jeden Makel vor Gott.23 tBleibt nur fest und unerschütterlich in eurem Glauben, und lasst euch durch nichts davon abbringen! Keine Macht der Erde soll euch die Hoffnung dieser rettenden Botschaft rauben, die ihr gehört habt und die überall in der Welt verkündet worden ist. Im Auftrag Gottes sage ich, Paulus, diese Botschaft weiter.

24 tWas ich auch immer für euch erleiden muss, nehme ich gern auf mich; ich freue mich sogar darüber. Das Maß der Leiden, die ich für Christus auf mich nehmen muss, ist noch nicht voll. Und ich leide für seinen Leib, für seine Gemeinde.25 Gott hat mir aufgetragen, seiner Gemeinde zu dienen und euch seine Botschaft ohne Abstriche zu verkünden.26 tIhr habt erfahren, was von Anfang der Welt, was allen Menschen vor euch verborgen war: ein Geheimnis, das jetzt allen Christen enthüllt worden ist.27 tIhnen wollte Gott zeigen, wie unbegreiflich und wunderbar dieses Geheimnis ist, das allen Menschen auf dieser Erde gilt: Christus lebt mitten unter euch. Er hat euch die Hoffnung auf die Herrlichkeit Gottes geschenkt.

28 tDiesen Christus verkünden wir euch. Mit aller Weisheit, die Gott mir gegeben hat, ermahne ich die Menschen und unterweise sie im Glauben, damit jeder Einzelne durch die Verbindung mit Christus reif und mündig wird.

29 Das ist das Ziel meiner Arbeit, dafür kämpfe ich, und dafür mühe ich mich ab. Christus, der mit seiner Macht in mir wirkt, schenkt mir die Kraft dazu.

Colossians 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy our brother,2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ that are at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father.3 We give thanks to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,4 having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have toward all the saints,5 because of the hope which is laid up for you in the heavens, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel,6 which is come unto you; even as it is also in all the world bearing fruit and increasing, as it doth in you also, since the day ye heard and knew the grace of God in truth;7 even as ye learned of Epaphras our beloved fellow-servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf,8 who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray and make request for you, that ye may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,10 to walk worthily of the Lord unto all pleasing, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;11 strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, unto all patience and longsuffering with joy;12 giving thanks unto the Father, who made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light;13 who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love;14 in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins:15 who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation;16 for in him were all things created, in the heavens and upon the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and unto him;17 and he is before all things, and in him all things consist.18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.19 For it was the good pleasure of the Father that in him should all the fulness dwell;20 and through him to reconcile all things unto himself, having made peace through the blood of his cross; through him, I say, whether things upon the earth, or things in the heavens.21 And you, being in time past alienated and enemies in your mind in your evil works,22 yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and without blemish and unreproveable before him:23 if so be that ye continue in the faith, grounded and stedfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel which ye heard, which was preached in all creation under heaven; whereof I Paul was made a minister.24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church;25 whereof I was made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which was given me to you-ward, to fulfil the word of God,26 even the mystery which hath been hid for ages and generations: but now hath it been manifested to his saints,27 to whom God was pleased to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:28 whom we proclaim, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ;29 whereunto I labor also, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.
