Aux Colossiens 1
Salutation
1 tPaul, apôtre de Jésus-Christ par la volonté de Dieu, et le frère Timothée,
2 taux frères qui, à Colosses, sont saints et dignes de confiance dans le Christ : Grâce et paix à vous de la part de Dieu, notre Père !La bonne nouvelle est parvenue chez vous
3 tNous rendons grâce à Dieu, le Père de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, et nous prions sans cesse pour vous ; 4 tnous avons en effet entendu parler de votre foi en Jésus-Christ et de l’amour que vous avez pour tous les saints, 5 tà cause de l’espérance qui vous est réservée dans les cieux, espérance dont vous avez entendu parler précédemment par la parole de la vérité, la bonne nouvelle. 6 tCette bonne nouvelle est parvenue chez vous, tout comme elle porte du fruit et croît dans le monde entier ; il en est de même chez vous, depuis le jour où vous avez entendu et connu la grâce de Dieu en vérité, 7 td’après les instructions que vous avez reçues d’Epaphras, notre compagnon d’esclavage bien-aimé ; il est pour vous un ministre du Christ digne de confiance,
8 tet il nous a appris de quel amour l’Esprit vous anime.Intercession
9 tC’est pourquoi, nous aussi, depuis le jour où nous l’avons appris, nous ne cessons de prier Dieu pour vous et de demander que vous soyez remplis de la connaissance de sa volonté, en toute sagesse et intelligence spirituelle, 10 tpour que vous vous comportiez d’une manière digne du Seigneur, afin de lui plaire à tous points de vue, que vous portiez du fruit par toutes sortes d’œuvres bonnes, que vous croissiez dans la connaissance de Dieu
11 tet que vous deveniez puissants à tous égards par sa force glorieuse, en vue d’une persévérance et d’une patience à toute épreuve.Le Fils, image du Dieu invisible
Avec joie, 12 trendez grâce au Père qui vous a rendus capables d’accéder à la part d’héritage des saints dans la lumière. 13 tIl nous a délivrés de l’autorité des ténèbres pour nous transporter dans le royaume de son Fils bien-aimé,
14 ten qui nous avons la rédemption, le pardon des péchés.
15 tIl est l’image du Dieu invisible,
le premier-né de toute création ;
16 tcar c’est en lui que tout a été créé
dans les cieux et sur la terre,
le visible et l’invisible,
trônes, seigneuries,
principats, autorités ;
tout a été créé par lui et pour lui ;
17 tlui, il est avant tout,
et c’est en lui que tout se tient ;
18 tlui, il est la tête du corps – qui est l’Eglise.
Il est le commencement,
le premier-né d’entre les morts,
afin d’être en tout le premier.
19 tCar il a plu à Dieu de faire habiter en lui toute plénitude
20 tet, par lui, de tout réconcilier avec lui-même,
aussi bien ce qui est sur la terre que
ce qui est dans les cieux,
en faisant la paix par lui,
par le sang de sa croix.
21 tQuant à vous qui étiez autrefois étrangers et ennemis, dans votre façon de penser et par vos œuvres mauvaises, 22 til vous a maintenant réconciliés, par la mort, dans son corps de chair, pour vous faire paraître devant lui saints, sans défaut et sans reproche
23 t– si vraiment vous demeurez, dans la foi, fondés et fermement établis, sans vous laisser emporter loin de l’espérance de la bonne nouvelle que vous avez entendue, qui a été proclamée à toute création sous le ciel et dont moi, Paul, je suis devenu ministre.Le combat de l’apôtre
24 tJe me réjouis maintenant dans mes souffrances pour vous et je supplée à ce qui manque aux détresses du Christ dans ma chair pour son corps, qui est l’Eglise. 25 tC’est d’elle que, moi, je suis devenu ministre, selon l’intendance de Dieu qui m’a été accordée pour vous, afin d’accomplir la parole de Dieu, 26 tce mystère qui a été caché de tout temps et à toutes les générations, mais qui s’est maintenant manifesté à ses saints, 27 tà qui Dieu a voulu faire connaître quelle est, parmi les non-Juifs, la glorieuse richesse de ce mystère : le Christ en vous, l’espérance de la gloire. 28 tC’est lui que nous annonçons, en avertissant tout être humain et en instruisant tout être humain en toute sagesse, afin de porter tout être humain à son accomplissement dans le Christ. 29 tC’est pour cela que je me donne de la peine, en combattant par son action qui, avec puissance, est à l’œuvre en moi.
Colossians 1
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy our brother,2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ that are at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father.3 We give thanks to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,4 having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have toward all the saints,5 because of the hope which is laid up for you in the heavens, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel,6 which is come unto you; even as it is also in all the world bearing fruit and increasing, as it doth in you also, since the day ye heard and knew the grace of God in truth;7 even as ye learned of Epaphras our beloved fellow-servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf,8 who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray and make request for you, that ye may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,10 to walk worthily of the Lord unto all pleasing, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;11 strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, unto all patience and longsuffering with joy;12 giving thanks unto the Father, who made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light;13 who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love;14 in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins:15 who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation;16 for in him were all things created, in the heavens and upon the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and unto him;17 and he is before all things, and in him all things consist.18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.19 For it was the good pleasure of the Father that in him should all the fulness dwell;20 and through him to reconcile all things unto himself, having made peace through the blood of his cross; through him, I say, whether things upon the earth, or things in the heavens.21 And you, being in time past alienated and enemies in your mind in your evil works,22 yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and without blemish and unreproveable before him:23 if so be that ye continue in the faith, grounded and stedfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel which ye heard, which was preached in all creation under heaven; whereof I Paul was made a minister.24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church;25 whereof I was made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which was given me to you-ward, to fulfil the word of God,26 even the mystery which hath been hid for ages and generations: but now hath it been manifested to his saints,27 to whom God was pleased to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:28 whom we proclaim, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ;29 whereunto I labor also, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.
