1 t t Paulus, etter Guds vilje Kristi Jesu apostel, og vår bror Timoteus
2 t helsar dei heilage i Kolossai, dei truande sysken i Kristus: Nåde vere med dykk og fred frå Gud, vår Far!Takk og forbøn
3 t Vi takkar alltid Gud, vår Herre Jesu Kristi Far, når vi bed for dykk. 4 For vi har fått høyra om dykkar tru på Kristus Jesus og den kjærleiken de har til alle dei heilage 5 tt på grunn av det håpet som ventar dykk i himmelen. Det har de alt no fått høyra om gjennom det sanne ordet, evangeliet 6 som er kome til dykk. For i heile verda ber evangeliet frukt og breier seg ut. Det har det òg gjort hos dykk, heilt frå den dagen de høyrde det og i sanning fekk læra Guds nåde å kjenna. 7 tt Det var slik de lærte det av Epafras, vår kjære medarbeidar, som er ein trufast Kristi tenar for dykk.
8 Han har òg fortalt oss om den kjærleiken de har i Anden.
9 t Heilt frå den dagen vi fekk høyra om dette, har vi ikkje halde opp med å be for dykk. Og det er vår bøn at de må bli fylte med kunnskap om Guds vilje og få all den visdom og innsikt som Anden gjev, 10 t så de kan leva eit liv som er Herren verdig, og vera heilt og fullt til glede for han, bera frukt i all god gjerning og stadig veksa i kjennskap til Gud. 11 t De skal styrkjast av krafta frå hans herlegdom, så de alltid er uthaldande og tolmodige. Og med glede 12 t skal de takka Far, som gjorde dykk i stand til å få del i den arven dei heilage får i lyset. 13 t For han har fria oss ut frå mørkrets makt og ført oss over i riket til Sonen, som han elskar.
14 tt I han er vi frikjøpte og har fått tilgjeving for syndene.Skaping og forsoning ved Kristus
15 t t Han er biletet av den usynlege Gud,
den førstefødde før alt det skapte.
16 t For i han vart alt skapt,
i himmelen og på jorda,
det synlege og det usynlege,
troner og herredøme,
makter og åndskrefter –
ved han og til han er alt skapt.
17 t t Han er før alt,
og i han blir alt halde saman.
18 t t Han er hovudet for kroppen, som er kyrkja.
Han er opphavet,
den førstefødde frå dei døde,
så han i eitt og alt skal vera den fremste.
19 t For i han ville Gud la heile sin fylde bu,
20 t og ved han ville Gud forsona alt med seg,
det som er i himmelen, og det som er på jorda,
då han skapte fred ved hans blod på krossen.
21 t De òg var ein gong framande og fiendar av Gud i sinn og tanke med dei vonde gjerningane dykkar. 22 t Men no har han forsona dykk med seg, då Kristus leid døden i sin kropp av kjøt og blod. Heilage, uklanderlege og utan feil ville han stilla dykk fram for seg,
23 t så sant de blir ståande i trua, grunnfeste og støe, og ikkje lèt dykk riva bort frå håpet i evangeliet, det som de har høyrt. Det er forkynt for alle skapningar under himmelen, og eg, Paulus, er ein tenar for det.Liding og teneste for forsamlingane
24 t No gleder eg meg over det eg må lida for dykk, og det som enno manglar i Kristi lidingar, det utfyller eg med min eigen kropp; eg lid for hans kropp, som er kyrkja. 25 t Hennar tenar har eg vorte fordi Gud gav meg oppgåva som forvaltar hos dykk: å fullføra tenesta med Guds ord, 26 t det mysteriet som har vore løynt gjennom alle tider og for alle slekter, men som no er openberra for hans heilage. 27 tt Gud ville kunngjera for dei kor rikt på herlegdom dette mysteriet er for folkeslaga: Kristus er mellom dykk, håpet om herlegdomen! 28 t Det er han vi forkynner. Og vi rettleier og underviser alle menneske i den fulle visdom, så vi kan føra kvart menneske fram til mognad i Kristus. 29 t For å nå dette målet arbeider og kjempar eg i hans kraft, som verkar i meg med styrke.
COLOSSIANS 1
1 From Paul, chosen by God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from Timothy, who is also a follower.
2 To God's people who live in Colossae and are faithful followers of Christ.

3 Each time we pray for you, we thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 4 We have heard of your faith in Christ and of your love for all God's people,
5 because what you hope for is kept safe for you in heaven. You first heard about this hope when you believed the true message, which is the good news.
6 The good news is spreading all over the world with great success. It has spread in this same way among you, ever since the first day you learned the truth about God's wonderful kindness 7 t from our good friend Epaphras. He works together with us for Christ and is a faithful worker for you.t
8 He is also the one who told us about the love that God's Spirit has given you.The Person and Work //of Christ
9 We have not stopped praying for you since the first day we heard about you. In fact, we always pray that God will show you everything he wants you to do and that you may have all the wisdom and understanding his Spirit gives. 10 Then you will live a life that honors the Lord, and you will always please him by doing good deeds. You will come to know God even better.
11 His glorious power will make you patient and strong enough to endure anything, and you will be truly happy.
12 I pray that you will be grateful to God for letting yout have part in what he has promised his people in the kingdom of light. 13 God rescued us from the dark power of Satan and brought us into the kingdom of his dear Son,
14 t who forgives our sins and sets us free.
15 t Christ is exactly like God,
who cannot be seen.
He is the first-born Son,
superior to all creation.
16 Everything was created by him,
everything in heaven
and on earth,
everything seen and unseen,
including all forces
and powers,
and all rulers
and authorities.
All things were created
by God's Son,
and everything was made
for him.
17 God's Son was before all else,
and by him everything
is held together.
18 t He is the head of his body,
which is the church.
He is the very beginning,
the first to be raised
from death,
so that he would be
above all others.
19 God himself was pleased
to live fully in his Son.
20 t And God was pleased
for him to make peace
by sacrificing his blood
on the cross,
so that all beings in heaven
and on earth
would be brought back to God.
21 You used to be far from God. Your thoughts made you his enemies, and you did evil things. 22 But his Son became a human and died. So God made peace with you, and now he lets you stand in his presence as people who are holy and faultless and innocent.
23 But you must stay deeply rooted and firm in your faith. You must not give up the hope you received when you heard the good news. It was preached to everyone on earth, and I myself have become a servant of this message.Paul's Service to the Church
24 I am glad I can suffer for you. I am pleased also that in my own body I can continuet the suffering of Christ for his body, the church. 25 God's plan was to make me a servant of his church and to send me to preach his complete message to you. 26 For ages and ages this message was kept secret from everyone, but now it has been explained to God's people.
27 God did this because he wanted you Gentiles to understand his wonderful and glorious mystery. And the mystery is that Christ lives in you, and he is your hope of sharing in God's glory.
28 We announce the message about Christ, and we use all our wisdom to warn and teach everyone, so all of Christ's followers will grow and become mature. 29 This is why I work so hard and use the mighty power he gives me.
