골로새서 1

인사

1 하나님의 뜻으로 그리스도 예수의 사도가 된 나 바울과 형제인 디모데가, 2 골로새에 있는 성도들 곧 그리스도 안에 있는 t신실한 t형제자매들에게 이 편지를 씁니다. t우리 아버지 하나님께서 내려주시는 은혜와 평화가 여러분에게 있기를 빕니다.

하나님께 감사를 드리다

3 우리는 여러분을 위하여 기도할 때에, 항상 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 하나님 아버지께 감사를 드립니다. 4 우리는 그리스도 예수에 대한 여러분의 믿음과 모든 성도를 향해서 여러분이 품고 있는 사랑을 전해 들었습니다. 5 이 믿음과 사랑은 여러분을 위하여 하늘에 쌓아 두신 t소망에 근거합니다. 이 소망은 여러분이 진리의 말씀 곧 복음을 받아들일 때에 이미 들은 것입니다. 6 이 복음은 온 세상에 전해진 것과 같이, 여러분에게 전해졌습니다. 여러분이 하나님의 은혜를 듣고서 참되게 깨달은 그날로부터, 여러분 가운데서와 같이 온 세상에서 열매를 맺으며 자라고 있습니다. 7 여러분은 하나님의 은혜를 우리와 함께 종이 된 사랑하는 에바브라에게서 배웠습니다. 그는 t여러분을 위해서 일하는 그리스도의 신실한 일꾼이요, 8 성령 안에서 여러분의 사랑을 우리에게 알려 준 사람입니다.

그리스도의 인격과 그분이 하시는 일

9 그러므로 우리가 여러분의 소식을 들은 그 날부터, 우리도 여러분을 위하여 쉬지 않고 기도합니다. 우리는 하나님께서 여러분에게 모든 신령한 지혜와 총명으로 t하나님의 뜻을 아는 지식을 채워 주시기를 빕니다. 10 여러분이 주님께 합당하게 살아감으로써, 모든 일에서 그분을 기쁘게 해 드리고, 모든 선한 일에서 열매를 맺고, 하나님을 점점 더 알고, 11 하나님의 영광의 권능에서 오는 모든 능력으로 강하게 되어서, 기쁨으로 끝까지 참고 견디기를 바랍니다. 12 그리하여 성도들이 받을 상속의 몫을 차지할 자격을 t여러분에게 주신 아버지께, 여러분이 빛 속에서 감사를 드리게 되기를 우리는 바랍니다. 13 아버지께서 우리를 암흑의 권세에서 건져내셔서, 자기의 사랑하는 아들의 나라로 옮기셨습니다. 14 우리는 그 아들 안에서 t구속 곧 죄 사함을 받았습니다. 15 그 아들은 보이지 않는 하나님의 형상이시요, 모든 피조물보다 먼저 나신 분이십니다.

16 만물이 그분 t안에서 창조되었습니다. 하늘에 있는 것들과 땅에 있는 것들, 보이는 것들과 보이지 않는 것들, 왕권이나 주권이나 권력이나 권세나 할 것 없이, 모든 것이 그분으로 말미암아 창조되었고, 그분을 위하여 창조되었습니다.

17 그분은 만물보다 먼저 계시고, 만물은 그분 안에서 존속합니다.

18 그분은 교회라는 몸의 머리이십니다. 그는 근원이시며, 죽은 사람들 가운데서 제일 먼저 살아나신 분이십니다. 이는 그분이 만물 가운데서 으뜸이 되시기 위함입니다.

19 하나님께서는 그분의 안에 모든 충만함을 머무르게 하시기를 기뻐하시고,

20 그분의 십자가의 피로 평화를 이루셔서, 그분으로 말미암아 만물을, 곧 땅에 있는 것들이나 하늘에 있는 것들이나 다, 자기와 기꺼이 화해시켰습니다.

21 전에 여러분은 악한 일로 하나님을 멀리 떠나 있었고, 마음으로 하나님과 원수가 되어 있었습니다. 22 그러나 지금은 하나님께서 그리스도의 죽으심을 통하여, 그분의 육신의 몸으로 여러분과 화해하셔서, 여러분을 거룩하고 흠이 없고 책망할 것이 없는 사람으로 자기 앞에 내세우셨습니다. 23 그러므로 여러분은 믿음에 튼튼히 터를 잡아 굳건히 서 있어야 하며, 여러분이 들은 복음의 소망에서 떠나지 말아야 합니다. 이 복음은 하늘 아래 있는 모든 피조물에게 전파되었으며, 나 바울은 이 복음의 일꾼이 되었습니다.

교회에서 바울이 하는 일

24 이제 나는 여러분을 위하여 고난을 받는 것을 기쁘게 여기고 있으며, 그리스도의 남은 고난을 그분의 몸 곧 교회를 위하여 내 육신으로 채워가고 있습니다. 25 나는 하나님께서 여러분을 위하여 하나님의 말씀을 남김없이 전파하게 하시려고 내게 맡기신 사명을 따라, 교회의 일꾼이 되었습니다. 26 이 비밀은 영원 전부터 모든 세대에게 감추어져 있었는데, 지금은 그 성도들에게 드러났습니다. 27 하나님께서는 이방 사람 가운데 나타난 이 비밀의 영광이 얼마나 풍성한지를 성도들에게 알리려고 하셨습니다. 이 비밀은 여러분 안에 계신 그리스도요, 곧 영광의 소망입니다. 28 우리는 이 그리스도를 전합니다. 우리는 모든 사람을 그리스도 안에서 온전한 사람으로 세우기 위하여 모든 사람에게 권하며, 지혜를 다하여 모든 사람을 가르칩니다. 29 이 일을 위하여 나도 내 속에서 능력으로 작용하는 그분의 활력을 따라 수고하며 애쓰고 있습니다.

COLOSSIANS 1

1 From Paul, chosen by God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from Timothy, who is also a follower.

2 To God's people who live in Colossae and are faithful followers of Christ.
I pray that God our Father will be kind to you and will bless you with peace!

A Prayer of Thanks

3 Each time we pray for you, we thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 4 We have heard of your faith in Christ and of your love for all God's people,

5 because what you hope for is kept safe for you in heaven. You first heard about this hope when you believed the true message, which is the good news.
6 The good news is spreading all over the world with great success. It has spread in this same way among you, ever since the first day you learned the truth about God's wonderful kindness 7 t from our good friend Epaphras. He works together with us for Christ and is a faithful worker for you.t

8 He is also the one who told us about the love that God's Spirit has given you.

The Person and Work //of Christ

9 We have not stopped praying for you since the first day we heard about you. In fact, we always pray that God will show you everything he wants you to do and that you may have all the wisdom and understanding his Spirit gives. 10 Then you will live a life that honors the Lord, and you will always please him by doing good deeds. You will come to know God even better.

11 His glorious power will make you patient and strong enough to endure anything, and you will be truly happy.
12 I pray that you will be grateful to God for letting yout have part in what he has promised his people in the kingdom of light. 13 God rescued us from the dark power of Satan and brought us into the kingdom of his dear Son,

14 t who forgives our sins and sets us free.

15  t Christ is exactly like God,
who cannot be seen.
He is the first-born Son,
superior to all creation.

16 Everything was created by him,
everything in heaven
and on earth,
everything seen and unseen,
including all forces
and powers,
and all rulers
and authorities.
All things were created
by God's Son,
and everything was made
for him.

17 God's Son was before all else,
and by him everything
is held together.

18  t He is the head of his body,
which is the church.
He is the very beginning,
the first to be raised
from death,
so that he would be
above all others.

19 God himself was pleased
to live fully in his Son.

20  t And God was pleased
for him to make peace
by sacrificing his blood
on the cross,
so that all beings in heaven
and on earth
would be brought back to God.
21 You used to be far from God. Your thoughts made you his enemies, and you did evil things. 22 But his Son became a human and died. So God made peace with you, and now he lets you stand in his presence as people who are holy and faultless and innocent.

23 But you must stay deeply rooted and firm in your faith. You must not give up the hope you received when you heard the good news. It was preached to everyone on earth, and I myself have become a servant of this message.

Paul's Service to the Church

24 I am glad I can suffer for you. I am pleased also that in my own body I can continuet the suffering of Christ for his body, the church. 25 God's plan was to make me a servant of his church and to send me to preach his complete message to you. 26 For ages and ages this message was kept secret from everyone, but now it has been explained to God's people.

27 God did this because he wanted you Gentiles to understand his wonderful and glorious mystery. And the mystery is that Christ lives in you, and he is your hope of sharing in God's glory.
28 We announce the message about Christ, and we use all our wisdom to warn and teach everyone, so all of Christ's followers will grow and become mature. 29 This is why I work so hard and use the mighty power he gives me.
