III.— LA NUEVA VIDA EN CRISTO (3,1—4,1)
Muertos al mundo; vivos para Dios
1 ¡Ustedes han resucitado con Cristo! Orienten, pues, sus vidas hacia el cielo, donde está Cristo sentado junto a Diost.t 2 Pongan el corazón en las realidades celestiales y no en las de la tierra.t 3 Porque han muerto y sus vidas está escondida con Cristo en Dios.
4 Cuando Cristo, la vida de ustedest, se manifieste, también ustedes aparecerán llenos de gloria junto a él.tNuevas criaturas
5 Destruyan lo que hay de mundano en ustedes: la lujuria, la impureza, las pasiones desenfrenadas, los malos deseos y la avaricia, que es una especie de idolatría.t 6 Esto es lo que enciende la ira de Dios sobre quienes se niegan a obedecerlot; 7 es también lo que en otro tiempo constituyó la norma de conducta y de vida de ustedes mismos. 8 Ahora, en cambio, es preciso que renuncien a todo eso: a la ira, al rencor, a la malquerencia, la calumnia y la groseríat.t 9 No anden engañándose unos a otros. Despójense de la vieja y pecadora condición humana 10 y conviértanse en nuevas criaturas que van renovándose sin cesar a imagen de su Creador, en busca de un conocimiento cada vez más profundo.t
11 Ya no hay fronteras de raza, religión, cultura o condición social, sino que Cristo es todo en todos.t
12 Son elegidos de Dios; él los ha consagrado y les ha otorgado su amor. Sean, pues, profundamente compasivos, benignos, humildes, pacientes y comprensivos.t 13 Sopórtense mutuamente y, así como el Señor los perdonó, perdónense también ustedes, cuando alguno tenga quejas contra otro.t
14 Y, por encima de todo, practiquen el amor que todo lo vuelve perfecto.t
15 Que la paz de Cristo reine en sus vidas; a ella los ha llamado Dios para formar un solo cuerpo. Y sean agradecidos.t 16 Que el mensaje de Cristo los llene con toda su riqueza y sabiduría para que sean maestros y consejeros los unos de los otros, cantando a Dios salmos, himnos y canciones inspiradas* con un corazón profundamente agradecidot.t
17 En fin, cuanto hagan o digan, háganlo todo en nombre de Jesús, el Señor, dando gracias a Dios Padre por medio de él.tLos diversos estados de vida
18 Esposas, respetent la autoridad de sus maridos; tal es el deber como cristianas.t
19 Maridos, amen a sus esposas y nunca las traten con aspereza.
20 Ustedes, hijos, obedezcan a sus padres sin reservas, pues eso es lo que agrada al Señor.t
21 Por lo que toca a ustedes, padres, eduquen con tacto a sus hijos, para que no se desalienten.
22 Esclavos*, acaten en todo momento las órdenes de los amos temporales. No como alguien que se siente vigilado o en plan adulador, sino con la nobleza de los que honrant al Señor.t 23 Pongan el corazón en lo que hagan, como si lo hicieran para el Señor y no para gente mortal. 24 Sepan que el Señor les dará la herencia eterna como premiot y que son esclavos de Cristo, el Señor. 25 En cuanto al que se comporte mal, Dios le dará su merecido sin favoritismo alguno.t
Colossians 3
Exhortations to Seek the Things Above
1 Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.2 Keep thinking about things above, not things on the earth,3 for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.4 When Christ (who is yours life) appears, then you too will be revealed in glory with him.5 So put to death whatever in your nature belongs to the earth:t sexual immorality, impurity, shameful passion,t evil desire, and greed which is idolatry.6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience.ss7 You also lived your livest in this way at one time, when you used to live among them.8 But now, put off all such thingst as anger, rage, malice, slander, abusive language from your mouth.9 Do not lie to one another since you have put off the old man with its practices10 and have been clothed with the new mans that is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of the one who created it.
11 Here there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slavet or free, but Christ is all and in all.
Exhortation to Unity and Love
12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with a heart of mercy,t kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,13 bearing with one another and forgivingt one another, if someone happens to havet a complaint against anyone else. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also forgive others.t14 And to all theset virtuest addt love, which is the perfect bond.t15 Let the peace of Christ be in control in your heart (for you were in fact called as one bodyt to this peace), and be thankful.16 Let the word of Christs dwell in you richly, teaching and exhorting one another with all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, all with gracet in your hearts to God.
17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
18 Wives, submit to yourt husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be embittered against them.20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing in the Lord.21 Fathers,t do not provoket your children, so they will not become disheartened.22 Slaves,t obey your earthlyt masters in every respect, not only when they are watching – like those who are strictly people-pleasers – but with a sincere heart, fearing the Lord.23 Whatever you are doing,t work at it with enthusiasm,t as to the Lord and not for people,t24 because you know that you will receive yourt inheritancet from the Lord as the reward. Servet the Lord Christ.25 For the one who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong,ts and there are no exceptions.t
