EPISTOLA DI S. PAOLO A'~COLOSSESI 3

Esortazione alla santità, ed all'amor fraterno

1 SE dunque voi siete risuscitati con Cristot, cercate le cose di sopra, dove Cristo è a sedere alla destra di Diot. 2 Pensate alle cose di soprat, non a quelle che son sopra la terra. 3 Perciocchè voi siete mortit, e la vita vostra è nascosta con Cristo in Dio.

4 Quando Cristo, che è la vita vostrat, apparirà, allora ancor voi apparirete con lui in gloriat.
5 Mortificate adunque le vostre membra che son sopra la terrat; fornicazione, immondizia, lussuria nefanda, mala concupiscenza, ed avarizia, che è idolatriat. 6 Per le quali cose viene l'ira di Dio sopra i figliuoli della disubbidienzat. 7 Nelle quali già camminaste ancor voi, quando vivevate in esset. 8 Ma ora deponete ancora voi tutte queste coset: ira, cruccio, malizia, e fuor della vostra bocca maldicenza, e parlar disonestot. 9 Non mentite gli uni agli altrit, avendo spogliato l'uomo vecchio co'~suoi atti; 10 e vestito il nuovot, che si rinnova a conoscenzat, secondo l'immagine di colui che l'ha creatot.

11 Dove non vi è Greco e Giudeot, circoncisione e incirconcisione, Barbaro e Scita, servo e franco; ma Cristo è ogni cosa, ed in tutti.
12 Vestitevi adunque, come eletti di Dio, santi, e diletti, di viscere di misericordia, di benignità, d'umiltà, di mansuetudine, di pazienzat; 13 comportandovi gli uni gli altri, e perdonandovi, se alcuno ha qualche querela contro ad un altrot; come Cristo ancora vi ha perdonati, fate voi altresì il simigliante. 14 E per tutte queste cose, vestitevi di caritàt, che è il legame della perfezionet.

15 Ed abbia la presidenza ne'~cuori vostri la pace di Diot, alla quale ancora siete stati chiamati in un corpot; e siate riconoscentit.
16 La parola di Cristo abiti in voi doviziosamente, in ogni sapienza; ammaestrandovi, ed ammonendovi gli uni gli altri, con salmi, ed inni, e canzoni spiritualit; cantando con grazia del cuor vostro al Signore.

17 E qualunque cosa facciatet, in parola, o in opera, fate ogni cosa nel nome del Signore Gesù, rendendo graziet a Dio, e Padre, per lui.

I doveri domestici

18 MOGLI, siate soggette a'~maritit, come si conviene nel Signore.

19 Mariti, amate le moglit, e non v'inasprite contro a loro.

20 Figliuoli, ubbidite a'~padri e madrit, in ogni cosa; poichè questo è accettevole al Signore.

21 Padri, non provocate ad ira i vostri figliuolit, acciocchè non vengan meno dell'animo.
22 Servi, ubbiditet in ogni cosa a quelli che son vostri signori secondo la carne; non servendo all'occhio, come per piacere agli uomini; ma in semplicità di cuore, temendo Iddio. 23 E qualunque cosa facciate, operate d'animo, facendolo come al Signore, e non agli uomini; 24 sapendo che dal Signore riceverete la retribuzione dell'ereditàt; poichè voi servite a Cristo, il Signore.

25 Ma chi fa torto riceverà la retribuzione del torto ch'egli avrà fatto, e non vi è riguardo a qualità di personat.
26 Signori, fate ciò che è giusto, e ragionevole inverso i servit, sapendo che ancora voi avete un Signore ne'~cieli.

Colossians 3

Exhortations to Seek the Things Above

1 Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.2 Keep thinking about things above, not things on the earth,3 for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.4 When Christ (who is yours life) appears, then you too will be revealed in glory with him.5 So put to death whatever in your nature belongs to the earth:t sexual immorality, impurity, shameful passion,t evil desire, and greed which is idolatry.6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience.ss7 You also lived your livest in this way at one time, when you used to live among them.8 But now, put off all such thingst as anger, rage, malice, slander, abusive language from your mouth.9 Do not lie to one another since you have put off the old man with its practices10 and have been clothed with the new mans that is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of the one who created it.

11 Here there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slavet or free, but Christ is all and in all.

Exhortation to Unity and Love

12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with a heart of mercy,t kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,13 bearing with one another and forgivingt one another, if someone happens to havet a complaint against anyone else. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also forgive others.t14 And to all theset virtuest addt love, which is the perfect bond.t15 Let the peace of Christ be in control in your heart (for you were in fact called as one bodyt to this peace), and be thankful.16 Let the word of Christs dwell in you richly, teaching and exhorting one another with all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, all with gracet in your hearts to God.

17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
18 Wives, submit to yourt husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be embittered against them.20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing in the Lord.21 Fathers,t do not provoket your children, so they will not become disheartened.22 Slaves,t obey your earthlyt masters in every respect, not only when they are watching – like those who are strictly people-pleasers – but with a sincere heart, fearing the Lord.23 Whatever you are doing,t work at it with enthusiasm,t as to the Lord and not for people,t24 because you know that you will receive yourt inheritancet from the Lord as the reward. Servet the Lord Christ.25 For the one who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong,ts and there are no exceptions.t
