1 tIhr Herren, behandelt eure Sklaven gerecht und anständig. Denkt immer daran, dass ihr denselben Herrn im Himmel habt wie sie.

Für andere leben

2 tLasst euch durch nichts vom Gebet abbringen, und vergesst dabei nicht, Gott zu danken.3 tBetet auch für uns, damit Gott uns eine Möglichkeit gibt, sein Geheimnis zu verkünden: die Botschaft von Christus, für die ich hier im Gefängnis sitze.4 Und betet, dass ich frei und offen von dem reden kann, was mir aufgetragen wurde.

5 tVerhaltet euch klug und besonnen denen gegenüber, die keine Christen sind. Nutzt die wenige Zeit, die euch noch bleibt!6 tRedet mit jedem Menschen freundlich; alles, was ihr sagt, soll gut und hilfreich seint. Bemüht euch darum, für jeden die richtigen Worte zu finden.

Persönliche Grüße und Wünsche

7 tUnser lieber Bruder Tychikus wird euch ausführlich berichten, wie es mir geht. Er ist mein treuer Mitarbeiter und dient dem Herrn.8 Ich schicke ihn gerade deshalb zu euch, damit ihr erfahrt, wie es uns geht, und damit er euch ermutigt und weiterhilft.9 tMit ihm zusammen schicke ich Onesimus, der ja zu euch gehört. Auch ihn schätze ich als treuen und lieben Bruder. Beide werden euch alles erzählen, was hier geschehen ist.

10 tAristarch, der zusammen mit mir im Gefängnis ist, lässt euch grüßen, ebenso Markus, der Vetter von Barnabas. Seinetwegen hatte ich euch ja schon geschrieben. Ich bitte euch noch einmal, ihn freundlich aufzunehmen, wenn er zu euch kommt.11 Auch Jesus Justus schickt euch seine Grüße. Diese drei Männer sind die einzigen Christen jüdischer Herkunft, die sich mit mir für Gottes neue Welt einsetzen. Sie sind mir Trost und Hilfe zugleich.

12 tEpaphras, der zu euch gehört, grüßt euch ebenfalls sehr herzlich. Er dient Jesus Christus und lässt nicht nach, für euch zu beten. Inständig bittet er Gott darum, dass ihr reife Christen werdet und bereit, in allen Dingen Gottes Willen zu erfüllen.13 tIch kann bezeugen, wie viel Mühe er auf sich nimmt für euch, für die Christen in Laodizea und die in Hierapolis.14 tFreundliche Grüße auch von dem Arzt Lukas, den wir alle sehr schätzen, und von Demas.15 Grüßt alle Christen in Laodizea von mir, vor allem Nympha und alle, die sich in ihrem Haus versammeln.

16 Wenn ihr diesen Brief gelesen habt, dann gebt ihn an die Gemeinde in Laodizea weiter. Lest auch den Brief, den ich dorthin geschrieben habe.17 Und sagt Archippus: Erfüll den Auftrag, den dir der Herr gegeben hat, treu und gewissenhaft!

18 tUnd hier noch mein persönlicher Gruß an euch; ich, Paulus, schreibe ihn mit eigener Hand. Vergesst nicht, dass ich im Gefängnis bin!

1 Masters, render unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.2 Continue stedfastly in prayer, watching therein with thanksgiving;3 withal praying for us also, that God may open unto us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds;4 that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.6 Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer each one.7 All my affairs shall Tychicus make known unto you, the beloved brother and faithful minister and fellow-servant in the Lord:8 whom I have sent you for this very purpose, that ye may know our state, and that he may comfort your hearts;9 together with Onesimus, the faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They shall make known unto you all things that are done here.10 Aristarchus my fellow-prisoner saluteth you, and Mark, the cousin of Barnabas (touching whom ye received commandments; if he come unto you, receive him),11 and Jesus that is called Justus, who are of the circumcision: these only are my fellow-workers unto the kingdom of God, men that have been a comfort unto me.12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ Jesus, saluteth you, always striving for you in his prayers, that ye may stand perfect and fully assured in all the will of God.13 For I bear him witness, that he hath much labor for you, and for them in Laodicea, and for them in Hierapolis.14 Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas salute you.15 Salute the brethren that are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church that is in their house.16 And when this epistle hath been read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye also read the epistle from Laodicea.17 And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.18 The salutation of me Paul with mine own hand.
