Deuteronomio 30

Bendición a causa del arrepentimiento

1 »Cuando recibas todas estas bendiciones o sufras estas maldiciones de las que te he hablado, y las recuerdes en cualquier nación por donde el Señor tu Dios te haya dispersado; 2 y cuando tú y tus hijos se vuelvan al Señor tu Dios y le obedezcan con todo el *corazón y con toda el *alma, tal como hoy te lo ordeno, 3 entonces el Señor tu Dios restaurará tu buena fortunas y se compadecerá de ti. ¡Volverá a reunirte de todas las naciones por donde te haya dispersado! 4 Aunque te encuentres desterrado en el lugar más distante de la tierra, desde allá el Señor tu Dios te traerá de vuelta, y volverá a reunirte. 5 Te hará volver a la tierra que perteneció a tus antepasados, y tomarás posesión de ella. Te hará prosperar, y tendrás más descendientes que los que tuvieron tus antepasados. 6 El Señor tu Dios quitará lo pagano que haya en tu corazóns y en el de tus descendientes, para que lo ames con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma, y así tengas vida. 7 Además, el Señor tu Dios hará que todas estas maldiciones caigan sobre tus enemigos, los cuales te odian y persiguen. 8 Y tú volverás a obedecer al Señor y a cumplir todos sus mandamientos, tal como hoy te lo ordeno. 9 Entonces el Señor tu Dios te bendecirá con mucha prosperidad en todo el trabajo de tus manos y en el fruto de tu vientre, en las crías de tu ganado y en las cosechas de tus campos. El Señor se complacerá de nuevo en tu bienestar, así como se deleitó en la prosperidad de tus antepasados, 10 siempre y cuando obedezcas al Señor tu Dios y cumplas sus mandamientos y preceptos, escritos en este libro de la *ley, y te vuelvas al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma.

Elección entre la vida y la muerte

11 »Este mandamiento que hoy te ordeno obedecer no es superior a tus fuerzas ni está fuera de tu alcance. 12 No está arriba en el cielo, para que preguntes: “¿Quién subirá al cielo por nosotros, para que nos lo traiga, y así podamos escucharlo y obedecerlo?” 13 Tampoco está más allá del océano, para que preguntes: “¿Quién cruzará por nosotros hasta el otro lado del océano, para que nos lo traiga, y así podamos escucharlo y obedecerlo?” 14 ¡No! La palabra está muy cerca de ti; la tienes en la boca y en el *corazón, para que la obedezcas.
15 »Hoy te doy a elegir entre la vida y la muerte, entre el bien y el mal. 16 Hoy te ordeno que ames al Señor tu Dios, que andes en sus *caminos, y que cumplas sus mandamientos, preceptos y leyes. Así vivirás y te multiplicarás, y el Señor tu Dios te bendecirá en la tierra de la que vas a tomar posesión.
17 »Pero si tu corazón se rebela y no obedeces, sino que te desvías para adorar y servir a otros dioses, 18 te advierto hoy que serás destruido sin remedio. No vivirás mucho tiempo en el territorio que vas a poseer luego de cruzar el Jordán.
19 »Hoy pongo al cielo y a la tierra por testigos contra ti, de que te he dado a elegir entre la vida y la muerte, entre la bendición y la maldición. Elige, pues, la vida, para que vivan tú y tus descendientes. 20 Ama al Señor tu Dios, obedécelo y sé fiel a él, porque de él depende tu vida, y por él vivirás mucho tiempo en el territorio que juró dar a tus antepasados Abraham, Isaac y Jacob.»

DEUTERONOMY 30

The [Lord] //Will Bring You Back

Moses said to Israel:

1  t I have told you everything the [Lord] your God will do for you, and I've also told you the curses he will put on you if you reject him. He will scatter you in faraway countries, but when you realize that he is punishing you, 2 return to him with all your heart and soul and start obeying the commands I have given to you today. 3-4 Then he will stop punishing you and treat you with kindness. He may have scattered you to the farthest countries on earth, but he will bring you back

5 to the land that had belonged to your ancestors and make you even more successful and powerful than they ever were.

6 You and your descendants are stubborn, but the [Lord] will make you willing to obey him and love him with all your heart and soul, and you will enjoy a long life.

7 Then the [Lord] your God will remove the curses from you and put them on those enemies who hate and attack you.
8 You will again obey the laws and teachings of the [Lord], 9 and he will bless you with many children, large herds and flocks, and abundant crops. The [Lord] will be happy to do good things for you, just as he did for your ancestors.

10 But you must decide once and for all to worship him with all your heart and soul and to obey everything in The Book of God's Law.

Choose Life, Not Death

Moses said to Israel:

14 No, these commands are nearby and you know them by heart. All you have to do is obey!
15  t Today I am giving you a choice. You can choose life and success or death and disaster.

16-18 I am commanding you to be loyal to the [Lord], to live the way he has told you, and to obey his laws and teachings. You are about to cross the Jordan River and take the land that he is giving you. If you obey him, you will live and become successful and powerful.
On the other hand, you might choose to disobey the [Lord] and reject him. So I'm warning you that if you bow down and worship other gods, you won't have long to live.
19 Now I call the sky and the earth to be witnesses that I am offering you this choice. Will you choose for the [Lord] to make you prosperous and give you a long life? Or will he put you under a curse and kill you? Choose life! 20 t Be completely faithful to the [Lord] your God, love him, and do whatever he tells you. The [Lord] is the only one who can give life, and he will let you live a long time in the land that he promised to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
