Mojžíšova smrt

1 Mojžíš pak vystoupil z moábských plání na horu Nebó, na vrchol Pisgy naproti Jerichu, a Hospodin mu ukázal celou tu zem: Gileád a dále, až po Dan, 2 celý Neftalímův kraj, zemi Efraima a Manasese, celé území Judy až ke Středozemnímu moři, 3 Negev i údolní rovinu Palmového města Jericha až po Coar. 4 Hospodin mu řekl: „Toto je zem, kterou jsem s přísahou zaslíbil Abrahamovi, Izákovi a Jákobovi se slovy: ‚Dám ji tvému semeni.‘ Dovolil jsem ti ji spatřit na vlastní oči, ale vejít do ní nesmíš.“

5 Tam, v moábské zemi, pak Hospodinův služebník Mojžíš zemřel, jak Hospodin řekl. 6 Pochoval jej v moábské zemi, v roklině naproti Bet-peoru, ale jeho hrob až dodnes nikdo nezná. 7 Když Mojžíš zemřel, bylo mu sto dvacet let. Jeho oči nezeslábly a jeho svěžest nevyprchala. 8 Synové Izraele oplakávali Mojžíše na moábských pláních třicet dní, než uplynula doba pláče a truchlení.

9 Jozue, syn Nunův, byl naplněn duchem moudrosti, neboť na něj Mojžíš vložil ruce. Synové Izraele ho poslouchali a jednali, jak Hospodin přikázal Mojžíšovi.

10 V Izraeli už ale nepovstal prorok, jako byl Mojžíš, se kterým se Hospodin znal tváří v tvář. 11 Kolik jen znamení a divů jej Hospodin poslal vykonat v Egyptě proti faraonovi, všem jeho služebníkům a celé jeho zemi! 12 Jak mocnou sílu a jak hrozné činy předvedl Mojžíš před očima celého Izraele!

Deuteronomy 34

The Death of Moses

1 Then Moses ascended from the deserts of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the summit of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho.ss The Lord showed him the whole land – Gilead to Dan,2 and all of Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the distantt sea,3 the Negev, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of the date palm trees, as far as Zoar.

4 Then the Lord said to him, “This is the land I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’t I have let you see it,t but you will not cross over there.”
5 So Moses, the servant of the Lord, died there in the land of Moab as the Lord had said.6 Hes buried him in the land of Moab near Beth Peor, but no one knows his exact burial place to this very day.7 Moses was 120 years old when he died, but his eye was not dullt nor had his vitalityt departed.

8 The Israelites mourned for Moses in the deserts of Moab for thirty days; then the days of mourning for Moses ended.

The Epitaph of Moses

9 Now Joshua son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had placed his hands on him;s and the Israelites listened to him and did just what the Lord had commanded Moses.10 No prophet ever again arose in Israel like Moses, who knew the Lord face to face.s11 He didt all the signs and wonders the Lord had sent him to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh, all his servants, and the whole land,

12 and he displayed great powert and awesome might in view of all Israel.t
