1 Nor jakintsua adinakoa?
Nork daki gauzen zergatia argitzen?
Jakinduriak argitzen dio
gizakiari aurpegia,
eta bekozkoa aldatzen.
2 Bete itzazu erregearen esanak,
hala egin baitzenion zin
Jainkoaren aurrean.t
3 Ez arbuiatu erregearen nagusigoat,
eta ez jardun gaiztakerian,
nahi duen guztia
egiten baitu erregeak.
4 Honen esana, izan ere,
ahalmen handikoa;
nork galdetu hari zertan ari den?
5 Agindua bete dezanak
ez du inolako txarrik izanen;
jakintsuak badaki noiz eta zer egin.t
6 Arazo guztientzat daude
aldi eta era bereziak;
gizakiarentzat, berriz, atsekabe ugari.
7 Izan ere, inork ezin jakin
zer gertatuko den.
Adieraz ote diezaioke norbaitek?t
8 Gizon-emakumeak ezin izan
beren bizi-arnasaren jabet;
ezin egin ihes heriotza-egunari,
ezin alde egin borrokaldi honetatik.
Gaiztakeriak ez du salbatuko
gaiztoa.t
9 Hauen guztien berri izan dut,
eguzkipean egin ohi diren
lan guztiak
aztertzen saiatu naizenean,
kalte eginez, gizakiak gizakia
menderatzen duenean.Zuzenaren eta gaiztoaren saria
10 Era berean, ikusia dut
nola lurperatu dituzten gaiztoak;
toki santutik urruti bizi izan ziren;
hala ere, hirian ahaztu egin zuten
haien jokabideat.
Hau ere zentzugabekeria!
11 Izan ere,
gaiztakeriaren aurkako epaia
berehala betetzen ez delako,
makurkeria egiteko gogoz
bete ohi da
gizon-emakumeen bihotza.
12 Hamaika gaiztakeria egin ohi du
bekatariak!
Baina luzaz bizi da.
Hala ere, badakit:
«Jainkoari begirune eta lotsa
diotenei ongi doakie.t
13 Gaiztoak ez du onik izango
eta ez du bere bizia luzatuko
itzal bat adina,
ez baitio begirunerik Jainkoari».
14 Lurrean, ordea,
beste zentzugabekeria hau
gertatu ohi da:
zenbait gizaki zuzenek
gaizkileei dagokien zoria dute,
eta zenbait gizaki gaiztok
ongileei dagokiena.
Nire ustez, hau
guztiz zentzugabekoa da.t
15 Gora, bada, alaitasuna!
Ez baitu gizakiak
eguzkipean beste onik,
jan, edan eta gozatzea baizik.
Horixe bakarrik atera dezake
bere eginahaletik,
Jainkoak mundu honetan bizitzeko
eman dizkion egunetan.tInork ulertzen ez Jainkoak egina
16 Gogotik saiatu naiz jakintsu izaten
eta lurrean egin ohi diren jarduerak
ulertzen.
Gau eta egun, begirik bildu gabe,
ari izaten dira gizon-emakumeak.
17 Baina, ikusi dudanez,
Jainkoak eguzkipean ari dituen
egintza guztietarik bat ere
ezin dute gizon-emakumeek
garbi ulertu.
Zenbat eta gehiago saiatu
egintza horien arrazoi bila,
hainbat eta nekezago
aurkituko dute.
Jakintsuak berak,
badakiela esanik ere, ez du ulertzen.t
Ecclesiastes 8
Human Government Demonstrates Limitations of Wisdom
1 Who ist at wise person? Who knows the solutiont to a problem?t
A person’s wisdom brightens his appearance,t and softensst his harsh countenance.t
2 Obey the king’s command,s
because you tookt an oath before Godt to be loyal to him.t
3 Do not rush out of the king’s presence in haste – do not delay when the matter is unpleasant,t
for he can do whatever he pleases.
4 Surely the king’s authorityt is absolute;t
no one can sayt to him, “What are you doing?”
5 Whoever obeys hist command will not experience harm,
and a wise persont knows the proper timet and procedure.
6 For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter,
for the oppressiont of the kingt is severe upon his victim.t
7 Surely no one knows the future,t
and no one can tell another person what will happen.t
8 Just as no one has power over the wind to restrain it,t
so no one has power over the day of hist death.
Just as no one can be discharged during the battle,t
so wickedness cannot rescue the wicked.t
9 While applyingt my mindt to everythingt that happens in this world,t I have seen all this:
Sometimes one persont dominatest other peoplet to their harm.t
Contradictions to the Law of Retribution
10 Not only that,t but I have seen the wicked approachings and entering the temple,t
and as they left the holy temple,t they
boasteds in the city that they had done so.
This also is an enigma.t
11 Whent a sentencet is not executedt at once against a crime,t
the human heartt is encouraged to do evil.t
12 Even though a sinner might commit a hundred crimest and still live a long time,t
yet I know that it will go well with God-fearing peoplet – for they stand in feart before him.
13 But it will not go well with the wicked,
nor will theyt prolong theirt days like a shadow,t
because theyt do not stand in feart before God.
14 Here ist anothert enigmat that occurs on earth:
Sometimes there are righteous people who get what the wicked deserve,t
and sometimes there are wicked people who get what the righteous deserve.t
I said, “This also is an enigma.”
Enjoy Life In Spite of Its Injustices
15 So I recommend the enjoyment of life,t
for there is nothing better on eartht for a person to dot exceptt to eat, drink, and enjoys life.t
Sot joyt will accompany him in his toil
during the days of his life which God gives him on earth.t
Limitations of Human Wisdom
16 When I triedt to gaint wisdom
and to observe the activityt on earth –
even though it prevents anyone from sleeping day or nightt –
17 then I discerned all that God has done:t
No one really comprehends what happenst on earth.t
Despite all humant efforts to discover it, no one can ever graspt it.t
Even ift a wise person claimedt that he understood,
he would not really comprehendt it.t
