Hälsning

1 Från Paulus, som genom Guds vilja är sändebudt åt Jesus Kristust.
Till alla dem i Efesos som tillhör Gud och troget lever i gemenskap med Kristus.

2 Jag ber att Gud, vår Far, och Herren Jesus Kristus ska visa er godhet och fylla er med frid.

Inledande hyllning till Gud

3 Låt oss hylla Gud, han som är Far till vår Herre Jesus Kristus. Gud har ju genom sin Ande gett oss allt sitt goda på grund av vår gemenskap med Kristus.
4 Redan innan världen skapades, hade ju Gud i sin kärlek bestämt, att den som lever i gemenskap med hans Son får tillhöra honom och en dag stå inför honom utan skuld.

5 Hans plan var hela tiden att vi skulle bli hans barn genom det som Jesus Kristus skulle göra för oss. Ja, detta var hans vilja, och han gladde sig åt den dag det skulle ske!
6 Så låt oss hylla Gud för den fantastiska nåd han har visat oss därför att vi tillhör hans älskade Son.

7 Ja, han visade oss en oändlig nåd när han lät Sonen offra sitt blod, för genom detta har vi köpts fria från vårt slaveri och har fått förlåtelse för våra synder.
8 I sin överflödande godhet gav Gud oss dessutom vishet och förstånd.9 Han avslöjade nämligen sin hemligat plan för oss ‑ den plan som han hade gjort upp redan i tidens början.10 Den gick ut på att Gud, när den rätta tiden hade kommit, skulle låta Kristus bli härskare över hela skapelsen ‑ över allting som finns både i himlen och på jorden.11 Och eftersom vi nu lever i gemenskap med Kristus, ska vi också få ärva allt det goda som finns hos Gud. Detta enligt den plan som han gjorde upp, för när Gud tänker ut något blir det alltid som han vill.12 Och hans syfte med allt detta var att vi judar, som var de första att börja hoppas på Kristus, skulle hylla och ära Gud.13 Men nu har också ni icke-judar fått höra budskapet om Jesus, det sanna budskap som kan rädda er. Och eftersom ni tror på Kristus och lever i gemenskap med honom, har Gud också gett er sin heliga Ande som ett tecken på att ni tillhör honom, precis som han lovade för länge sedan.

14 Guds Ande är garantin för att Gud verkligen ska låta oss ärva allt det goda som finns hos honom, den dag han befriar oss som är hans eget folk. Och detta är ännu ett skäl till att hylla och ära Gud.

Paulus tackar för församlingen och ber om andlig vishet

15 Ända sedan jag fick höra om er tro på Herren Jesus och om den kärlek ni visar alla de troende,16 har jag ständigt tackat Gud när jag har bett för er.17 Jag ber att Gud, vår Herre Jesus Kristus mäktiga och underbara Far, ska låta sin Ande ge er vishet och förstånd, så att ni för varje dag lär känna Gud bättre.18 Jag ber också att ni ska inse vilken underbar framtid Gud har erbjudit oss. Han har nämligen bestämt att vi som tillhör honom ska få ärva alla de stora och härliga rikedomar som finns hos honom.19 Och jag ber att ni ska förstå hur otroligt stark den kraft är som han låter verka i oss. Det är samma mäktiga kraft20 som han lät verka i Kristus, när han uppväckte honom från de döda och satte honom på sin högra sida i himlen för att han skulle regera med honom.t21 Och Kristus regerar nu över alla härskare och makter och krafter och väldiga änglar.t Ja, han står över allting som finns både i den här världen och i den kommande.22 Gud har gett Kristus makt över allting.t Och han som har fått makten över hela universum har också blivit ledare och huvud för församlingen.

23 Församlingen är hans kropp, och genom den är Kristus fullständigt närvarande bland människorna, han som uppfyller hela himlen och jorden.t

Salutation

1 From Paul,t an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to the saints [in Ephesus],ss the faithfult in Christ Jesus.

2 Grace and peace to yout from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

Spiritual Blessings in Christ

3 Blesseds ist the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessedt us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ.4 Fort he chose us in Christt before the foundation of the world that we may be holy and unblemisheds in his sightt in love.t5 He did this by predestiningts us to adoption as hist sonsts through Jesus Christ, according to the pleasuret of his will –6 to the praise of the glory of his gracet that he has freely bestowed on us in his dearly loved Son.tss7 In himt we have redemption through his blood,s the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace8 that he lavished on us in all wisdom and insight.9 He did this when he revealedt to us the secrett of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set fortht in Christ,ts10 toward the administration of the fullness of the times, to head upt all things in Christ – the things in heavent and the things on earth.s11 In Christt we too have been claimed as God’s own possession,ts since we were predestined according to the one purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to the counsel of his will12 so that we, who were the first to set our hopet on Christ,t would be to the praise of his glory.13 And whent you heard the word of truth (the gospel of your salvation) – when you believed in Christt – you were marked with the sealt of the promised Holy Spirit,t

14 who is the down paymentts of our inheritance, until the redemption of God’s own possession,t to the praise of his glory.

Prayer for Wisdom and Revelation

15 For this reason,s because It have heardt of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your loves for all the saints,16 I do not cease to give thanks for you when I remember yout in my prayers.17 I pray thatt the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,t may give you spiritual wisdom and revelationt in your growing knowledge of him,tsss18 – since the eyes of yourst heart have been enlightenedt – so that you may know what is the hope of his calling,tssss what is the wealth of his glorioust inheritance in the saints,19 and what is the incomparablet greatness of his power towardt us who believe, as displayed int the exercise of his immense strength.ts20 This powert he exercisedt in Christ when he raised himt from the dead and seated hims at his right hand in the heavenly realmss21 far above every rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.22 And Godtputtall things under Christ’stfeet,s and he gave him to the church as head over all things.t

23 Now the church ist his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.ts
