Epheser 1

1 Paulus, Apostel Jesu Christi durch Gottes willen, den Heiligen und Treuen in Christo Jesu, die in Ephesus sind:2 Gnade euch und Friede von Gott, unserem Vater, und dem Herrn Jesus Christus!3 Gepriesen sei der Gott und Vater unseres Herrn Jesus Christus, der uns gesegnet hat mit jeder geistlichen Segnung in den himmlischen Örtern in Christo,4 wie er uns auserwählt hat in ihm vor Grundlegung der Welt, daß wir heilig und tadellos seien vor ihm in Liebe;5 und uns zuvorbestimmt hat zur Sohnschaft durch Jesum Christum für sich selbst nach dem Wohlgefallen seines Willens,6 zum Preise der Herrlichkeit seiner Gnade, worin er uns begnadigt hat in dem Geliebten,7 in welchem wir die Erlösung haben durch sein Blut, die Vergebung der Vergehungen, nach dem Reichtum seiner Gnade,8 welche er gegen uns hat überströmen lassen in aller Weisheit und Einsicht,9 indem er uns kundgetan hat das Geheimnis seines Willens, nach seinem Wohlgefallen, das er sich vorgesetzt hat in sich selbst10 für die Verwaltung der Fülle der Zeiten: alles unter ein Haupt zusammenzubringen in dem Christus, das was in den Himmeln und das, was auf der Erde ist, in ihm,11 in welchem wir auch ein Erbteil erlangt haben, die wir zuvorbestimmt sind nach dem Vorsatz dessen, der alles wirkt nach dem Rate seines Willens,12 damit wir zum Preise seiner Herrlichkeit seien, die wir zuvor auf den Christus gehofft haben;13 auf welchen auch ihr gehofft, nachdem ihr gehört habt das Wort der Wahrheit, das Evangelium eures Heils, in welchem ihr auch, nachdem ihr geglaubt habt, versiegelt worden seid mit dem Heiligen Geiste der Verheißung,14 welcher das Unterpfand unseres Erbes ist, zur Erlösung des erworbenen Besitzes, zum Preise seiner Herrlichkeit.15 Weshalb auch ich, nachdem ich gehört habe von dem Glauben an den Herrn Jesus, der in euch ist, und von der Liebe, die ihr zu allen Heiligen habt, nicht aufhöre,16 für euch zu danken, euer erwähnend in meinen Gebeten,17 auf daß der Gott unseres Herrn Jesus Christus, der Vater der Herrlichkeit, euch gebe den Geist der Weisheit und Offenbarung in der Erkenntnis seiner selbst, damit ihr,18 erleuchtet an den Augen eures Herzens, wisset, welches die Hoffnung seiner Berufung ist, und welches der Reichtum der Herrlichkeit seines Erbes in den Heiligen,19 und welches die überschwengliche Größe seiner Kraft an uns, den Glaubenden, nach der Wirksamkeit der Macht seiner Stärke,20 in welcher er gewirkt hat in dem Christus, indem er ihn aus den Toten auferweckte (und er setzte ihn zu seiner Rechten in den himmlischen Örtern,21 über jedes Fürstentum und jede Gewalt und Kraft und Herrschaft und jeden Namen, der genannt wird, nicht allein in diesem Zeitalter, sondern auch in dem zukünftigen,22 und hat alles seinen Füßen unterworfen und ihn als Haupt über alles der Versammlung gegeben,23 welche sein Leib ist, die Fülle dessen, der alles in allem erfüllt);

Salutation

2 Grace and peace to yout from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

Spiritual Blessings in Christ

3 Blesseds ist the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessedt us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ.4 Fort he chose us in Christt before the foundation of the world that we may be holy and unblemisheds in his sightt in love.t5 He did this by predestiningts us to adoption as hist sonsts through Jesus Christ, according to the pleasuret of his will –6 to the praise of the glory of his gracet that he has freely bestowed on us in his dearly loved Son.tss7 In himt we have redemption through his blood,s the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace8 that he lavished on us in all wisdom and insight.9 He did this when he revealedt to us the secrett of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set fortht in Christ,ts10 toward the administration of the fullness of the times, to head upt all things in Christ – the things in heavent and the things on earth.s11 In Christt we too have been claimed as God’s own possession,ts since we were predestined according to the one purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to the counsel of his will12 so that we, who were the first to set our hopet on Christ,t would be to the praise of his glory.13 And whent you heard the word of truth (the gospel of your salvation) – when you believed in Christt – you were marked with the sealt of the promised Holy Spirit,t

14 who is the down paymentts of our inheritance, until the redemption of God’s own possession,t to the praise of his glory.

Prayer for Wisdom and Revelation

15 For this reason,s because It have heardt of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your loves for all the saints,16 I do not cease to give thanks for you when I remember yout in my prayers.17 I pray thatt the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,t may give you spiritual wisdom and revelationt in your growing knowledge of him,tsss18 – since the eyes of yourst heart have been enlightenedt – so that you may know what is the hope of his calling,tssss what is the wealth of his glorioust inheritance in the saints,19 and what is the incomparablet greatness of his power towardt us who believe, as displayed int the exercise of his immense strength.ts20 This powert he exercisedt in Christ when he raised himt from the dead and seated hims at his right hand in the heavenly realmss21 far above every rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.22 And Godtputtall things under Christ’stfeet,s and he gave him to the church as head over all things.t

23 Now the church ist his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.ts
