Lettre aux Éphésiens 1
Salutation
1 De la part de Paul, qui par la volonté de Dieu est apôtre de Jésus-Christ.
A ceux qui appartiennent au peuple de Dieu à Éphèset et qui sont fidèles dans la communion avec Jésus-Christ :
2 Que Dieu notre Père et le Seigneur Jésus-Christ vous accordent la grâce et la paix.Les bienfaits que Dieu nous a accordés par le Christ
3 Louons Dieu, le Père de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ ! Il nous a bénis dans notre union avec le Christ, en nous accordant toute bénédiction spirituelle dans le monde céleste. 4 Avant la création du monde, Dieu nous avait déjà choisis pour être siens par le Christ, afin que nous soyons saints et sans défaut à ses yeux. Dans son amour, 5 Dieut avait décidé par avance qu’il ferait de nous ses enfants par Jésus-Christ ; dans sa bienveillance, voilà ce qu’il a voulu.
6 Louons donc Dieu pour le don magnifique qu’il nous a généreusement fait en son Fils bien-aimé.
7 Car, par le sacrifice du Christ, nous sommes délivrés du mal et nos péchés sont pardonnést. Dieu nous a ainsi manifesté la richesse de sa grâce, 8 qu’il nous a accordée avec abondance en nous procurant une pleine sagesse et une pleine intelligence : 9 Il nous a fait connaître son plan secret que, dans sa bienveillance, il avait décidé par avance de réaliser par le Christ.
10 Ce plan, que Dieu achèvera à la fin des temps, consiste à réunir tout ce qui est dans les cieux et sur la terre sous un seul chef, le Christ.
11 Dans notre union avec le Christ, nous avons reçu la part qui nous était promiset, car Dieu nous avait choisis par avance, selon son plan ; et Dieu réalise toutes choses conformément à ce qu’il a décidé et voulu.
12 Louons donc la grandeur de Dieu, nous qui avons été les premiers à mettre notre espoir dans le Christ !
13 Vous aussi, quand vous avez écouté le message de la vérité, la Bonne Nouvelle qui vous a apporté le salut, vous avez cru au Christ ; alors, Dieu a mis sa marque personnelle sur vous, en vous donnant le Saint-Esprit promis.
14 Le Saint-Esprit nous garantit les biens que Dieu a réservés à son peuple ; il nous assure que nous les posséderons quand notre délivrance sera complète. Louons donc la grandeur de Dieu !Prière de Paul
15 Voilà pourquoi, maintenant que j’ai entendu parler de votre foi dans le Seigneur Jésus et de votre amour pour tous les croyants, 16 je ne cesse pas de remercier Dieu à votre sujet. Je pense à vous dans mes prières 17 et je demande au Dieu de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, au Père glorieux, de vous donner l’Esprit de sagesse qui vous le révélera et vous le fera vraiment connaître. 18 Qu’il ouvre vos yeux à sa lumière, afin que vous compreniez à quelle espérance il vous a appelés, quelle est la richesse et la splendeur des biens destinés à ceux qui lui appartiennent, 19 et quelle est la puissance extraordinaire dont il dispose pour nous les croyants. Cette puissance est celle-là même que Dieu a manifestée avec tant de force 20 quand il a ramené le Christ d’entre les morts et l’a fait siéger à sa droite dans le monde célestet. 21 Le Christ y est placé au-dessus de toute autorité, de tout pouvoir, de toute puissance, de toute dominationt et de tout autre titre qui puisse être cité non seulement dans ce monde-ci mais aussi dans le monde à venir. 22 Dieu a mis toutes choses sous les pieds du Christt et il l’a donné à l’Église comme chef suprême. 23 L’Église est le corps du Christ ; c’est en elle que le Christ est pleinement présent, lui qui remplit tout l’universt.
Ephesians 1
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, to the saints that are at Ephesus, and the faithful in Christ Jesus:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ:4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blemish before him in love:5 having foreordained us unto adoption as sons through Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,6 to the praise of the glory of his grace, which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved:7 in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,8 which he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,9 making known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in him10 unto a dispensation of the fulness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens, and the things upon the earth; in him, I say,11 in whom also we were made a heritage, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his will;12 to the end that we should be unto the praise of his glory, we who had before hoped in Christ:13 in whom ye also, having heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation,-- in whom, having also believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,14 which is an earnest of our inheritance, unto the redemption of God’s own possession, unto the praise of his glory.15 For this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and the love which ye show toward all the saints,16 cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him;18 having the eyes of your heart enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,19 and what the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might20 which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places,21 far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:22 and he put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things to the church,23 which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
