Efesini 1

1 Io, Paolo, apostolo di Gesù Cristo per volontà di Dio, scrivo ai fratelli cristiani di Efeso sempre fedeli a Gesù Cristo.2 A voi auguro grazia e pace da parte di Dio, nostro Padre, e del Signore Gesù Cristo.3 Benedetto sia Dio, Padre del nostro Signore Gesù Cristo, che nel cielo ci ha benedetto con ogni benedizione spirituale, perché apparteniamo a Cristo.

Il grande piano di Dio.

4 Molto tempo fa, ancor prima di creare il mondo, Dio ci scelse perché gli appartenessimo, in virtù di ciò che Cristo avrebbe fatto per noi. Nel suo amore, egli decise di renderci santi e senza difetti di fronte a lui.5 Il suo piano immutabile è stato attuato per far sì che diventassimo suoi figli, mandando Gesù Cristo a morire per noi, secondo il suo volere.6 Sia lodato il Signore per il dono meraviglioso che ci ha fatto per mezzo di Gesù, suo amatissimo Figlio.7 Da Cristo, dal suo sangue versato per noi, abbiamo la redenzione, vale a dire il perdono di tutti i peccati. Questa è la ricchezza della grazia di Dio.8 Egli ce l’ha donata in abbondanza, dandoci sapienza e intelligenza e9 rivelandoci il motivo segreto per cui ha mandato Cristo, rivelandoci il piano che aveva già deciso e preparato sin dai tempi dei tempi.10 E questo è il suo scopo quando i tempi saranno maturati, egli riunirà tutte le cose, sia in cielo che in terra, sotto un unico capo: Cristo.11 E anche noi, grazie a ciò che Cristo ha fatto, abbiamo parte nel suo progetto e siamo destinati ad essere suoi eredi, perché Dio stesso lo vuole. Infatti tutte queste cose accadono, perché egli stesso decise così tanto tempo fa, perché12 potessimo lodare ed esaltare la sua gloria per le grandi cose che ha fatto per noi, per noi che siamo stati i primi a credere in Cristo.13 E grazie a ciò che Cristo ha fatto, anche voi, dopo che avete ascoltato la buona notizia della vostra salvezza e dopo aver confidato in Cristo, avete ricevuto il sigillo di quello Spirito Santo che era stato promesso a tutti noi cristiani.14 Lo Spirito Santo che è dentro di noi è la garanzia che Dio ci darà tutto ciò che ha promesso; e il sigillo dello Spirito su di noi sta ad indicare che Dio ci ha già acquistati e ci garantisce di prenderci con sé. Per noi questa è una ragione di più per lodare il nostro Dio glorioso.15 Per tutto questo, perché ho saputo della vostra grande fede nel Signore Gesù e dell’amore che avete verso tutti i cristiani,16-17 non smetto di ringraziare Dio per voi. Prego per voi continuamente, chiedendo a Dio, il Padre glorioso del nostro Signore Gesù Cristo, di darvi la saggezza di vedere chiaramente e di conoscere fino in fondo Cristo e tutto quello che ha fatto per voi.18 Prego che i vostri cuori siano inondati di luce, perché sappiate a quale futuro Dio vi ha chiamati e quanta gloria la sua eredità riserva a noi cristiani.19 Prego anche che incominciate a capire quanto sia immensa la sua potenza in quelli che credono in lui. Con la stessa straordinaria potenza20 Dio ha resuscitato Cristo dalla morte e lo ha fatto sedere al posto d’onore alla sua destra in cielo21 molto, molto più in alto di qualsiasi altro principe, autorità, dittatore o capo. Proprio così, egli stesso si trova al di sopra di qualsiasi altro, non solo di questo mondo, ma anche del mondo che verrà.22 Infatti, come dicono le Scritture: «Dio gli ha affidato tutto ciò che ha creato, dandogli autorità su tutte le cose » e lo ha eletto capo supremo della Chiesa,23 che è il suo corpo, la pienezza di Cristo, che in tutti porta a compimento ogni cosa.

Ephesians 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, to the saints that are at Ephesus, and the faithful in Christ Jesus:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ:4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blemish before him in love:5 having foreordained us unto adoption as sons through Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,6 to the praise of the glory of his grace, which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved:7 in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,8 which he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,9 making known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in him10 unto a dispensation of the fulness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens, and the things upon the earth; in him, I say,11 in whom also we were made a heritage, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his will;12 to the end that we should be unto the praise of his glory, we who had before hoped in Christ:13 in whom ye also, having heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation,-- in whom, having also believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,14 which is an earnest of our inheritance, unto the redemption of God’s own possession, unto the praise of his glory.15 For this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and the love which ye show toward all the saints,16 cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him;18 having the eyes of your heart enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,19 and what the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might20 which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places,21 far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:22 and he put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things to the church,23 which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
