EFESIËRS 1

1 Hierdie brief kom van Paulus. Ek is deur God gekies om 'n apostel van Christus Jesus te wees.
Ek skryf aan God se mense in Efese, hulle wat in Christus Jesus glo.

2 Mag die genade en vrede van God ons Vader en die Here Jesus Christus met julle wees.

Wonderlike geestelike geskenke

3 Prys God, die Vader van ons Here Jesus Christus, voortdurend, want Hy is wonderlik goed vir ons! Deur wat Christus gedoen het, het Hy ons geseën met elke geestelike seëning wat daar in die hemelsfere is.4 Deur wat Christus gedoen het, het God ons uitgekies. Omdat Hy ons liefhet, het Hy ons, al voor die wêreld gemaak is, uitgekies om Syne te wees en onberispelik in liefde voor sy aangesig te lewe.5 Deur wat Christus gedoen het, het God vooraf besluit om ons as sy kinders aan te neem. Hy het dit gedoen omdat dit is hoe Hy dit wou hê.

6 Daarom prys ons God se grootheid. Deur sy Seun wat Hy liefhet, het Hy genade aan ons gegee.
7 Deur sy geliefde Seun is ons verlos deurdat Hy sy bloed vir ons gestort het. Ons oortredings is vergewe omdat God die rykdom van sy genade8 in oorvloed aan ons gegee het. God, wat al die wysheid en insig het,9 het sy geheime plan aan ons bekendgemaak. So het Hy dit reeds voorheen, met die fokus op Christus, goedgevind om hierdie plan

10 in die volheid van die tye tot uitvoering te bring. Hierdie geheime plan is om alles wat in die hemel en op die aarde is, onder een hoof te verenig; en hierdie hoof is Christus.
11 Deur wat Christus gedoen het, het ons ook deel van God se eie erfdeel geword. Ons was vooraf daartoe bestem! Dit was God se doel! Hy het alles laat uitwerk soos Hy dit beplan en wou gehad het.12 Die gevolg is dat God se grootheid deur ons bestaan verheerlik word. Ons was die eerstes wat ons hoop op Christus geplaas het.13 Deur wat Christus gedoen het, het ook julle die waarheid gehoor, die Goeie Nuus waardeur julle verlos word. Op grond van wat Christus gedoen het, is julle, toe julle tot geloof gekom het, tot God se eiendom gemerk deur die Heilige Gees wat God belowe het.

14 Die Heilige Gees is God se deposito wat ons volle erfenis waarborg totdat almal wat aan God behoort, volkome verlos sal wees. Daarvoor moet ons God se grootheid prys!

Gebed om wysheid

15 Die nuus dat julle in die Here Jesus glo en liefde aan al God se mense bewys, maak dat ook ek16 nie ophou om God vir julle te dank nie. Ek dink aan julle in my gebede en vra17 dat die God van ons Here Jesus Christus - die Vader aan wie al die heerlikheid behoort - aan julle geestelike wysheid en insig sal gee deurdat julle Hom persoonlik ken.18 Mag God julle harte so verlig dat julle sal insien watter wonderlike vooruitsig sy roeping inhou. Mag julle insien hoe 'n ryk heerlikheid dit is dat God sy eie mense vir Hom as 'n erfdeel verkry het.

19 Mag julle insien hoe enorm groot die krag is wat God gebruik vir ons wat glo.
Dieselfde magtige sterkte was ook aan die werk20 toe God Christus uit die dood opgewek het en Hom in die hemel aan sy regterhand laat sit het.21 Nou is Christus hoog verhewe bo elke owerheid en gesag en krag en heerskappy, ja, elke noemenswaardige instansie, nie net in hierdie wêreld nie, maar ook in die wêreld wat kom.22 God het alle dinge onder sy beheer gestel en Hom ook as Hoof van alles aan die kerk gegee.

23 Die kerk is sy liggaam, die volheid van Hom wat alles in elke opsig met sy teenwoordigheid vul.

EPHESIANS 1

1  t From Paul, chosen by God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus.
To God's people who live in Ephesus andt are faithful followers of Christ Jesus.

2 I pray that God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ will be kind to you and will bless you with peace!

Christ Brings Spiritual //Blessings

6 God treated us with undeserved grace because of the Son he dearly loves, and so we should praise God.
7-8  t Christ sacrificed his life's blood to set us free, which means our sins are now forgiven. Christ did this because of God's gift of undeserved grace to us. God has great wisdom and understanding, 9 and by what Christ has done, God has shown us his own mysterious ways.

10 Then when the time is right, God will do all he has planned, and Christ will bring together everything in heaven and on earth.
11 God always does what he plans, and this is why he appointed Christ to choose us. 12 He did this so we Jews would bring honor to him and be the first ones to have hope because of him. 13 Christ also brought you the truth, which is the good news about how you can be saved. You put your faith in Christ and were given the promised Holy Spirit to show you belong to God.

14 The Spirit also makes us sure we will be given what God has stored up for his people. Then we will be set free, and God will be honored and praised.

Paul's Prayer

18 My prayer is that light will flood your hearts and you will understand the hope given to you when God chose you. Then you will discover the glorious blessings that will be yours together with all God's people.
19 I want you to know about the great and mighty power that God has for us followers. It is the same wonderful power he used 20 t when he raised Christ from death and let him sit at his right sidet in heaven. 21 There Christ rules over all forces, authorities, powers, and rulers. He rules over all beings in this world and will rule in the future world as well. 22 t t God has put all things under the power of Christ, and for the good of the church he has made him the head of everything. 23 The church is the body of Christ and is filled with Christ who completely fills everything.t
