Ephesians 1
Adresse et salutation
1 De la part de Paul, apôtre de Jésus-Christ par la volonté de Dieu, aux saintstqui sont [à Ephèse] et qui sont fidèles en Jésus-Christ:
2 que la grâce et la paix vous soient données de la part de Dieu notre Père et du Seigneur Jésus-Christ!
Les merveilleuses bénédictions du salut en Christ
3 Béni soit le Dieu et Père de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, qui nous a bénis de toute bénédiction spirituelle dans les lieux célestes en Christ!
4 En lui, Dieu nous a choisis avant la création du monde pour que nous soyons saints et sans défaut devant lui. Dans son amour,5 il nous a prédestinés à être ses enfants adoptifs par Jésus-Christ. C'est ce qu'il a voulu, dans sa bienveillance,
6 pour que nous célébrions la gloire de sa grâce, dont il nous a comblés dans le bien-aimét.
7 En lui, par son sang, nous sommes rachetés, pardonnés de nos fautes, conformément à la richesse de sa grâce.8 Dieu nous l'a accordée avec abondance, en toute sagesse et intelligence.9 Il nous a fait connaître le mystère de sa volonté, conformément au projet bienveillant qu'il avait formé en Christ
10 pour le mettre à exécution lorsque le moment serait vraiment venu, à savoir de tout réunir sous l'autorité du Messiet, aussi bien ce qui est dans le ciel que ce qui est sur la terre.
11 En lui nous avons été désignés comme héritiers, ayant été prédestinés suivant le plan de celui qui met tout en œuvre conformément aux décisions de sa volonté
12 pour servir à célébrer sa gloire, nous qui avons par avance espéré dans le Messie.
13 En lui vous aussi, après avoir entendu la parole de la vérité, l'Evangile qui vous sauve, en lui vous avez cru et vous avez été marqués de l'empreinte du Saint-Esprit qui avait été promis.
14 Il est le gage de notre héritage en attendant la libération de ceux que Dieu s'est acquis pour célébrer sa gloire.
Prière de Paul pour les Ephésiens
15 C'est pourquoi moi aussi, après avoir entendu parler de votre foi dans le Seigneur Jésus [et de votre amour] pour tous les saints,16 je ne cesse de dire toute ma reconnaissance pour vous lorsque je fais mention de vous dans mes prières.17 Je prie que le Dieu de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, le Père de gloire, vous donne un esprit de sagesse et de révélation qui vous le fasse connaître.18 Je prie qu'il illumine les yeux de votre cœur pour que vous sachiez quelle est l'espérance qui s'attache à son appel, quelle est la richesse de son glorieux héritage au milieu des saints19 et quelle est l'infinie grandeur de sa puissance, qui se manifeste avec efficacité par le pouvoir de sa force envers nous qui croyons.20 Cette puissance, il l'a déployée en Christ quand il l'a ressuscité et l'a fait asseoir à sa droite dans les lieux célestes,21 au-dessus de toute domination, de toute autorité, de toute puissance, de toute souveraineté et de tout nom qui peut être nommé, non seulement dans le monde présent, mais encore dans le monde à venir.22 Il a tout mis sous ses piedst et il l'a donné pour chef suprême à l'Eglise
23 qui est son corps, la plénitude de celui qui remplit tout en tous.
Ephesians 1
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, to the saints that are at Ephesus, and the faithful in Christ Jesus:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ:4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blemish before him in love:5 having foreordained us unto adoption as sons through Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,6 to the praise of the glory of his grace, which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved:7 in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,8 which he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,9 making known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in him10 unto a dispensation of the fulness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens, and the things upon the earth; in him, I say,11 in whom also we were made a heritage, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his will;12 to the end that we should be unto the praise of his glory, we who had before hoped in Christ:13 in whom ye also, having heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation,-- in whom, having also believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,14 which is an earnest of our inheritance, unto the redemption of God’s own possession, unto the praise of his glory.15 For this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and the love which ye show toward all the saints,16 cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him;18 having the eyes of your heart enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,19 and what the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might20 which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places,21 far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:22 and he put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things to the church,23 which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
