EFESIOS 1
Saludo
1 Queridos hermanos y hermanas de Éfeso:
A ustedes, que pertenecen al pueblo especial de Dios, y que siguen creyendo en Jesucristo y viven muy unidos a él, les envío mis saludos.
Yo, Pablo, soy apóstol de Jesucristo porque Dios así lo quiso.
2 Les pido a nuestro Padre Dios y al Señor Jesucristo que los amen mucho y les den su paz.
Pablo da gracias a Dios
3 Demos gracias al Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo por las bendiciones espirituales que Cristo nos trajo del cielo.
4 Desde antes de crear el mundo Dios nos eligió, por medio de Cristo, para que fuéramos sólo de él y viviéramos sin pecado.
Dios nos amó tanto que5 decidió enviar a Jesucristo para adoptarnos como hijos suyos, pues así había pensado hacerlo desde un principio.6 Dios hizo todo eso para que lo alabemos por su grande y maravilloso amor. Gracias a su amor, nos dio la salvación por medio de su amado Hijo.7-8 Por la muerte de Cristo en la cruz, Dios perdonó nuestros pecados y nos liberó de toda culpa. Esto lo hizo por su inmenso amor. Por su gran sabiduría y conocimiento,9 Dios nos mostró el plan que había mantenido en secreto, y que había decidido realizar por medio de Cristo.
10 Cuando llegue el momento preciso, Dios completará su plan y reunirá todas las cosas, tanto en el cielo como en la tierra, y al frente de ellas pondrá como jefe a Cristo.
11 Por medio de Cristo, Dios nos eligió desde un principio, para que fuéramos suyos y recibiéramos todo lo que él había prometido. Así lo había decidido Dios, quien siempre lleva a cabo sus planes.
12 Dios quiso que los judíos fuéramos los primeros en poner nuestra esperanza en Cristo, para que lo alabemos por su gran poder.
13 Ustedes oyeron y creyeron la buena noticia de su salvación, que es un mensaje verdadero, y gracias a Cristo pasaron a formar parte del pueblo de Dios y recibieron el Espíritu Santo, que nos había prometido.
14 Ustedes lo recibieron como prueba de que Dios cumplirá su promesa, cuando haya liberado totalmente a los que formamos su pueblo. Por eso, alabamos la grandeza de Dios.
Pablo ora por la iglesia en Éfeso
15 Me he enterado de que ustedes confían mucho en el Señor Jesús y aman a todos los del pueblo de Dios. Por eso, y por lo que antes dije,16 me acuerdo de ustedes cuando estoy orando, y le doy gracias a Dios por la confianza que en él tienen.17 Le pido al Dios de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, es decir, al Padre maravilloso, que les dé su Espíritu, para que sean sabios y puedan entender cómo es Dios.18 También le pido a Dios que les haga comprender con claridad el gran valor de la esperanza a la que han sido llamados, y de la salvación que él ha dado a los que son suyos.19 Pido también que entiendan bien el gran poder con que Dios nos ayuda en todo. El poder de Dios no tiene límites; con ese mismo poder20 Dios resucitó a Cristo y le dio un lugar en el cielo, a la derecha de su trono;21 con ese mismo poder, Dios le dio a Cristo dominio sobre todos los espíritus que tienen poder y autoridad, y sobre todo lo que existe en este mundo y en el nuevo mundo que vendrá.
22-23 Dios puso todas las cosas bajo el poder de Cristo, y lo nombró jefe de la iglesia. Cristo es, para la iglesia, lo que la cabeza es para el cuerpo. Con Cristo, que todo lo llena, la iglesia queda completa.
Ephesians 1
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, to the saints that are at Ephesus, and the faithful in Christ Jesus:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ:4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blemish before him in love:5 having foreordained us unto adoption as sons through Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,6 to the praise of the glory of his grace, which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved:7 in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,8 which he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,9 making known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in him10 unto a dispensation of the fulness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens, and the things upon the earth; in him, I say,11 in whom also we were made a heritage, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his will;12 to the end that we should be unto the praise of his glory, we who had before hoped in Christ:13 in whom ye also, having heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation,-- in whom, having also believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,14 which is an earnest of our inheritance, unto the redemption of God’s own possession, unto the praise of his glory.15 For this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and the love which ye show toward all the saints,16 cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him;18 having the eyes of your heart enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,19 and what the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might20 which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places,21 far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:22 and he put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things to the church,23 which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
