De la muerte a la vida
1 Tiempo hubo en que las culpas y pecados de todos ustedes los mantenían en estado de muerte.t 2 Era el tiempo en que seguían los torcidos caminos de este mundo y las directrices del que está al frente de las fuerzas invisibles del malt, de ese espíritu que al presente actúa con eficacia entre quienes se hallan en rebeldía contra Dios.t
3 Así vivíamos también todos nosotros en el pasado: sometidos a nuestras desordenadas apetencias humanast, obedientes a esos desordenados impulsos del instinto y de la imaginación, y destinados por nuestra condición a experimentar, como los demás, la ira de Dios.t
4 Pero la piedad de Dios es grande, e inmenso su amor hacia nosotros.t 5 Por eso, aunque estábamos muertos en razón de nuestras culpas, nos hizo revivir junto con Cristo —¡la salvación es pura generosidad de Dios!—,t 6 nos resucitó y nos sentó con Cristo Jesús en el cielo.t 7 Desplegó así, ante los siglos venideros, toda la impresionante riqueza de su gracia, hecha bondad para nosotros en Cristo Jesús.t 8 En efecto, ustedes han sido salvados gratuitamente mediante la fe. Y eso no es algo que provenga de ustedes; es un don de Dios. 9 No es, pues, cuestión de obras humanas, para que nadie pueda presumir.t
10 Lo que somos, a Dios se lo debemos. Él nos ha creado por medio de Cristo Jesús, para que hagamos el bien que Dios mismo nos señaló de antemano como norma de conducta.tPaz y unidad en Cristo
11 Recuerden, pues, que ustedes, paganos en otro tiempo por nacimiento y considerados incircuncisos por los llamados circuncisost —esos que llevan en su cuerpo una marca hecha por manos humanas—t 12 estaban en el pasado privados de Cristot, sin derecho a la ciudadanía de Israel, ajenos a las alianzas portadoras de la promesa, sin esperanza y sin Dios en medio del mundo.t
13 Ahora, en cambio, injertados en Cristo Jesús y gracias a su muerte, ya no están lejos como antes, sino cerca.t
14 Cristo es nuestra paz. Él ha hecho de ambos pueblos uno solo; él ha derribado el murot de odio que los separaba;t 15 él ha puesto fin en su propio cuerpo a la ley mosaica, con sus preceptos y sus normas, y ha creado en su propia persona con los dos pueblos una nueva humanidad, estableciendo la paz.t 16 Él ha reconciliado con Dios a ambos pueblos por medio de la cruz, los ha unido en un solo cuerpo y ha destruido así su enemistad.t 17 Él ha venido a traer la noticia de la paz: paz para ustedes, los que estaban lejos, y paz también para los que estaban cerca.t
18 Unos y otros, gracias a él y unidos en un solo Espíritu, tenemos abierto el camino que conduce al Padre.t
19 Ya no son, por tanto, extranjeros o advenedizos. Son conciudadanos de un pueblo consagradot, son familia de Dios,t 20 son piedras de un edificio construido sobre el cimiento de los apóstoles y los profetast. Y Cristo Jesús es la piedra angulart 21 en la que todo el edificio queda ensamblado y va creciendo hasta convertirse en templo consagrado al Señor,t 22 en el que también ustedes se van integrando hasta llegar a ser, por medio del Espíritu, casa en la que habita Dios.
Ephesians 2
New Life Individually
1 And although you weret deads in your transgressions and sins,2 in whichs you formerly livedts according to this world’s present path,ts according to the ruler of the kingdomt of the air, the ruler oft the spirits that is now energizingt the sons of disobedience,s
3 among whoms all of ust alsot formerly lived out our lives in the cravings of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wraths even as the rest…s
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us,5 even though we were dead in transgressions, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you are saved!t –6 and he raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,7 to demonstrate in the coming agest the surpassing wealth of his grace in kindness towardt us in Christ Jesus.8 For by grace you are savedt through faith,s and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God;9 it is not fromt works, so that no one can boast.t
10 For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them.ts
New Life Corporately
11 Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh – who are called “uncircumcision” by the so-called “circumcision” that is performed on the bodyt by human hands –12 that you were at that time without the Messiah,t alienated from the citizenship of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise,t having no hope and without God in the world.13 But now in Christ Jesus you who used to be far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.ts14 For he is our peace, the one who made both groups into onet and who destroyed the middle wall of partition, the hostility,15 when he nullifiedt in his flesh the law of commandments in decrees. He did this to create in himself one new mant out of two,t thus making peace,16 and to reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by which the hostility has been killed.t17 And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near,18 so thatt through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.19 So then you are no longer foreigners and noncitizens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household,20 because you have been builtt on the foundation of the apostles and prophets,s with Christ Jesus himself ast the cornerstone.t21 In himt the whole building,st being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,
22 in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
